Review Time
I really wish I’d read these reviews before ordering online :( It also makes sense why they did not give a damp that I was going to review my terrible experience.Order chocolate only to find they were out of date. £4.50 for 100gs of out of date chocolate… robbery. Customer service is non existent and the attitude is disgusting. Refused to give me a refund If I sent the items back.. pretty sure that’s illegal even with sale items.. Will dispute through trusty old PayPal :) I hope this business really gets what it deserves and closes soon.
A very narrow establishment with almost no space between tables. Private conversations are impossible. The staff are forever banging something, which makes the place sound more like a blacksmith's forge than a café. The loos are quite inadequate (actually there is only one), and when customers are crammed into their tables it is not unusual to see a queue of 3 or 4 women hopscotching outside the sole lavatory. The coffee is good, but the service can be very slow. I wouldn't return to eat, because there are very few savoury items, and sickly chocolates and cakes are not my thing. Very poor management and too little space makes Chococo impossible to recommend.
My daughter bought us a subscription for a chocolate assortment every month. The first box was nice but had quite a few chocolates that we would not have chosen. We’re now on our fourth monthly box and are quite disappointed. Each month, despite the menu card suggesting new flavours, we get the same, quite boring, selection with only one or two different choices. Can’t say we look forward to the box arriving in the post which is a shame!
We’re really impressed with Chococo’s service and the Honeycombe Easter Egg was delicious. We had an issue with delivery which wasn’t their fault, but they rectified it quickly and professionally. First Trustpilot review and it’s a definite 5 stars from me.
Don’t use this company! Our daughter sent us a Chococo Honeycombe Easter Egg in the post. Sadly, as many other customers have already pointed out, it was smashed to pieces when we opened the box. Totally ruined. My daughter was very upset, as these are not cheap & emailed the company, providing photos to show the damage. They have responded, basically saying tough. Does anyone know if they can just get away with providing damaged goods through the internet? Surely you should be able to trust that a purchase will be sent in a satisfactory condition, unless you have been told it is substandard when ordering. A very shoddy way to treat your customers.
Seen their beautiful Easter eggs recommended on this morning with starfish and turtles inside so order for my partner as I’m away from home for Easter. When he opened it the egg was smashed to pieces. The packaging was perfectly in tact so I’m guessing it was like that before it was posted. Disappointed since it’s a £15 egg and over a fiver for the postage.
I ordered ten bars of Mega Milk 65% milk chocolate as a thank you gift for friend in Brighton back in October. I just visited the family and asked them what they thought of the chocolate, and they had never received it (despite me receiving an email from Chococo confirming delivery). I contacted Chococo customer services and the agent was polite and courteous however immediately rejected the possibility of fulfilling the contract and resending the bars because I was contacting several months late. I explained this was a 'thank you' gift, I would not normally expect another 'thank you' in return.. so I was totally unaware. Moreover Chococo sent an email confirming that delivery to the recipient had occurred, which was not true.Chococo can apparently evidence the package left the warehouse but are unable to provide proof of delivery.I note that there's similar feedback here on Trustpilot from another customer who also sent a gift and it went to a completely different address and they were totally unaware.I'm adding my narrative to Trustpilot really as a warning to other customers; I am afraid the default Chococo delivery is poorly suited to sending expensive chocolate gifts. £40+ packages should require 'signed for' delivery, and it is Chococo's responsibility to ensure delivery to the intended recipient happens. If this isn't provable then Chococo certainly shouldn't send out emails stating items have been delivered to the intended recipient.I think in situations like this, where the contract has not been fulfilled and clearly a genuine customer is left very disappointed, Chococo has got the balance wrong in doubling down showing no goodwill at the outset. I appreciate they're a small business and I also suspect they would still make profit from this single transaction, even if they had dispatched another box of this Mega Milk chocolate.. these are, after all, very expensive bars. Moreover, I would've ordered more myself had this been resolved, and perhaps my friend would've loved the chocolate and his family become regular customers.Disappointed and there's an opportunity to improve things for Chococo here, I am sure.
