Review Time
I recently acted as a referee for my partner’s father to help him obtain a CitizenCard. Despite providing clear and legitimate evidence that I run a genuine UK business (Butler Bookings, trading since 2013 and fully VAT-registered), CitizenCard refused to accept me as a valid referee. They dismissed the application on the basis that my business was not listed on Companies House — failing to recognise that sole trader businesses are not required to be registered there. I even provided an official VAT registration certificate, our trading address (clearly displayed on our website), and my direct contact details — all of which were ignored with a standard, unhelpful reply. It’s incredibly disappointing to see an organisation refuse to acknowledge legally trading sole proprietors, even when all the requested documentation is provided. This not only wasted time but unfairly questioned the legitimacy of my business without cause. Their rigid and uninformed verification process makes it difficult for honest applicants to obtain ID.I expected far better from a company dealing with identity verification and public trust.Edit 20th June:Thanks for your reply. We don’t need to use online advertising directories because we are ranked highly in Google. I have suggested providing you evidence of our Google advertising spend, but once again you tell me it’s not an accepted form of evidence.I have emailed you to ask what forms of evidence you need and you refuse to tell me, or provide any help whatsoever. It seems to me that this is a scam business and I would suggest anyone considering their services to look elsewhere and save yourself a lot of hassle and wasted time.
who ever may read this. do not deal with this company!! bunch of liars!! they will say they rang your refferree when they haven't they will refuse to refund you aswell. I won!! they would not have it that they had never rang the buiness of my refferree. I had to get my refferree on the case and show call logs to prove they had not called. this went on for weeks. I told them I'm not going away and they are breaking there company act. eventually I got a refund bit it has been a nightmare. they do not ring refferrees and claim they have a refuse tp refund. it was only when my refferree threatened them.with trading standards and the ombudsman.they gave us a refund. they do not ring refferees. and if they wasn't in the wrong they wouldn't of refunded me. citizenship card. improve your bloody staff Kathy or what ever she was called from your companybwas piss poor lying and repeating lies instead of looking into the error they was told from dayb1 it was their error and they would not have it it's took over 20 emails to get my refund and this card is useless anyway
Like: card turned upDislikes:- taking money before applicant has been through the application process- the application process seems to assume a smart phone is being used. Using a laptop develops into a real phaff.- the application process or a dummy process should be provided before payment so that the applicant can work through the steps beforehand and understand the amount of time needed before submission.- the fact that the site asks for a discount code should have warned me that this is not a full government ID programme.- 3yr expiry is way too short for people over 25
I am very happy to receive my Citizen Card. I did not expect to receive it so quickly. I waited 3 weeks to 1 month. But I received it 14 days between my application and receiving it . also a very pretty card. Thank you very much, you are doing a wonderful job.
Amazing and immediate replies to emails! The same process as a passport really. As my son is SEND the photo/ digital section I found very difficult and stressful as it kept rejecting it. Trying to get him to understand the process was overwhelming.Got there in the end and arrived quite quickly.
