Review Time
I received parking charge notices for both of my vehicles after visiting Ripley’s Castle Estate, despite purchasing valid tickets and leaving well within the paid time.
The only issue was that I did not enter my full vehicle registration number when buying the tickets. However, payment was made in full for both vehicles, and I still have the original tickets and proof of purchase.
I appealed both notices and provided all the required evidence, yet both appeals were rejected. The charges have now been passed to Debt Recovery Plus, which is extremely concerning considering there was no loss and the parking was clearly paid for.
When I contacted Debt Recovery Plus, the representative I spoke to was very unhelpful and dismissive. I was told they would take me to court due to “new laws” and that my account would be marked as refusing to pay. When I asked for an email address to send my evidence, I was told they do not provide one and that I would not receive a reply.
I am trying to resolve this by providing clear proof that payment was made, yet I have not been given a fair opportunity to have the evidence properly reviewed.
Extremely disappointing experience and very poor communication throughout.
Extremely disappointed with their service i hot a letter of £169 straight away no communication before this letter. No previous letter recieved i don't know why the authorities dont take the action related to fake recovery services. And from last 8 days i am trying to contact them and they just putting me on hold and no one responding me even i am waiting for 1 hour on call.
As an update on my review from December 30th, this deceptive company continues to ignore my attempts to communicate. Instead, they sent a letter demanding £119 while refusing to respond to any of my inquiries. I've now sought assistance from a consumer advice service that is helping me with this issue. It's appalling how this company operates and they deserve to face consequences from government regulations. I will be reaching out to the ombudsman, as I refuse to let this go, which is likely what they hope for. Additionally, I find it quite amusing how they seem to inundate review platforms with their own five-star reviews to manipulate their ratings.
I would give this service a score of zero if it were an option. I received a letter dated 19th December today (30th), and when I reached out to them for assistance, the representative in live chat was unhelpful and dismissive. I highlighted that the original fine had increased from £60 to £170 while I awaited an appeal decision. I sought clarification on whether it would escalate to £280 during my wait for the IAS appeal response. After paying the £60, they then requested an additional £20 before they would set up a payment plan for the remaining £110. Being currently unemployed, I cannot afford to pay another £20 on the same day I paid £60, and when I communicated this, the chat was abruptly ended. This service feels like a scam, taking advantage of people's difficult situations.
What a dodgy company. Even after they were given permission to speak with me the woman refused to speak to me and terminated the call. All debt collection companies are the same sadly, only care about them selves and do not listen if the person calling does actually not own anything as the parking company has messed up.
I would rate this company at zero if possible. I received a letter dated 19th December today (30th) and when I contacted them to resolve the issue the live chat person was so unhelpful and would not listen to me. I pointed out that the original fine had jumped from £60 to £170, despite me waiting for an appeal decision. I asked for clarification of whether this would escalate to £280 whilst I waited to hear back from IAS appeal. I paid the £60 and then they demanded a further £20 before setting up a payment plan for the ‘remaining £110’. I am currently unemployed and unable to pay a further £20 on same day I paid £60 and when I explained this he just ended the chat. Such a scam of a company and preying on people’s vulnerabilities.
THIS COMPANY IS VERY DODGY....it's now DECEMBER and Debt Recovery Plus occasionally email me saying I owe them £240 for 2 outstanding tickets from August and September. (£170 each). The letters and emails don’t make any sense. For FOUR months they have told me that “if you don’t pay this figure by X date, your debt will increase to £280.” And then a week goes past the due date for the deposit and I don’t hear from them. It’s only when I look in my JUNK email I discover they extend the due date for the deposit….Their lack of communication is very unsettling…...I called the phone number for the company in October. The man I spoke to on the phone was awfully quiet and very unhelpful. I had informed him that my dad had passed away and I had no way of paying all of this upfront as I was mentally and financially unstable. I was living with my dad for 4 months and I had to move out and start financially contributing in a new home. Again….no consideration, no compassion asked if I could pay a £56 deposit there and then. And I phoned again last week. This northern lad was so CASUAL about it? He told me that they "don't take monthly instalments" but quoted me £37.78 over the course of 9 months. That doesn't even add up to £240 it adds up to £448.56!And then he told me that this wouldn't even "be guaranteed" as his colleagues might offer a "different price" ???UNTRUSTWORTHY.UNPROFESSIONAL.INSUFFICIENT COMMUNICATION.I am an 18-year old young driver with a limited income who is currently going through a bereavement. I do not deserve to be threatened with such letters and emails....
