Review Time
Our flight was over an hour late and when we called to get a shuttle to pick up our car we were told we were too late and it has gone and we should have informed them. As we were either in the runway or in the air and were not kept informed by easyJet of with whom we had booked the car we could not let them know. They had asked for our flight no when booking so could have tracked it which is what usually happens. We are then left stranded at 6pm on a Sunday. Never happened to us before and we have often been delayed. Never ever book with this company.
I have used this company more than 20 times in the last 18 months as it is generally the cheapest option available at Gatwick. Unfortunately, with low price comes very shabby customer care.Whilst I have had many acceptable experiences (credit to Zac and Amar on the reception desk, great lads), there have been just as many completely unacceptable events. Regular queues of 45 minutes to collect a car despite having checked in online. Several times asked to pay extra for an upgrade despite not wanting it (as my class of vehicle was not available, despite being booked and pre-paid). If you argue long and hard they will relent, but it is a battle. Last weekend I arrived at 7.35am for a 7.30am pick up, and was told my car wouldn't be availabe for 25 minutes as it was being collected from the overflow car park. I returned at 8am and was told without apology or any explanation that there was no car available for a further 2 hours (due to "fleet issues"). It was clearly untrue that it was on the way from the overflow..The week prior, I returned my car at 7am (the office opening time). The office was closed. I put my keys in the drop off box, then realised my phone was still in the locked car. No staff appeared at the office until 7:45am to access the key, (by which time there was a queue of several angry customers waiting to be served) so I missed my flight.I frequently witness customers being given no option other than to pay £35 daily insurance as they are unaware of the £1500 CREDIT CARD ONLY deposit required. These are Drivalia rules, but many customers are unaware, and there is a complete intransigence towards customer experience. No debit card or cash compromise. The alternative is your booking cancelled, and good luck with the refund. The overall impression is that the staff in the office fall into two categories:1) do not care, slightly vindictive.or2) do care, trying hard, but unable to provide customer satisfaction in the face of a poorly run (dis)organisation. Using Drivalia is like flipping a coin, it might be ok, but it might be dreadful and occasionally extremely inconvenient.
This is biggest con artist company I know! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!Last year hired a vehicle and they held £1500 on my DEBIT card which was released when I returned the vehicle. This year turn up exactly like I did last year, at the Norwich branch to be told I need a credit card! I DONT HAVE A CREDIT CARD! well as you don’t have a credit card you can pay another £270 to hire the vehicle! Umm no thanks! I explained I had £1500 on my debit card that they could hold like they had the year before! But oh no it has to be a credit card! Ok the terms say credit card but i believed this to be just a typo and could be any electronic card with £1500 on AS LIKE I SAID THE YEAR BEFORE THEY HAD HELD IT ON MY DEBIT CARD!Upon this they have already ruined my holiday as I ask for a refund of £184 so I can go else where! Ohhh no I’m not allowed a refund!!Are they serious they think it’s ok to keep £184 when I haven’t even seen the vehicle I’m hiring, let alone had it! The women in Norwich branch is rude and the customer service on the phone are rude! You can not keep my money when I haven’t had a product!Like I will repeat do not rent of this company unless you have a credit card with £1500 available to be held! Which also reading the reviews they seem to not release back. The mistake was made because the year before they had used my debit card so when I saw credit card I just believed they would use my debit card! I’m a single mum saved hard for this holiday and they have left me paying £184 for something I haven’t had! I will be taking them to a small claims court as that’s stealing!AGAIN AVOID AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND A LOT MORE MONEY!
Aleena & Amar were super kind and accommodating during my car hire experience when things didn’t go entirely to plan. They were very understanding and sympathetic and did all they could to support me which I greatly appreciated. I couldn’t fault their service, they’re both a credit to the company.
I was asked to write a review upon reservations. That review was good. Sales process was good. But that was the end of it. Basically, I’ve finished my rental and returned the car. Felt the whole process was a scam and costed me so much more money. They didn’t have the car I reserved at the time. If I wanted it, had to wait another 5 hours. Only other option was the a bigger car upgrade and then was convinced to get full insurance coverage, all of which costed me over TWICE the amount I had originally planned for. It was 7am in the morning…I just came off a 14hr flight with 2 little kids. I really didn’t wanna fight and so just settled for it. It was all a bloody scam I tell you, when I already contacted them before I got on the plane and they confirmed the car for my booking was available. When I got the car, it was so horribly dirty I cannot even describe. EVERYTHING WAS OILY, snack/wrappings/rubbish all stuffed in the corners and pockets. We didn’t see it until we were away and like I said, we were so tired so didn’t wanna drive an hour back to fight for another car. I spent 2 hours the next day scrubbing and washing the floors and sides. The oil stains were EVERYWHERE it was disgusting. Now that I am back in my home country, I recieve a car park fine. The fine is £50 which I have settled. But bloody hell you can not imagine Drivalia is charging me an additional £60 admin fee over this. I really don’t understand what admin work they have to do to warrant this. I paid to Eurocarpark directly for the fine. I’ve booked with so many other car companies around the world and in UK before and there is no such thing. Even if you were to charge an admin fee…come on, £60? You’ve got to be kidding me. I should charge them £150 for cleaning and scrubbing their “bigger upgraded” vehicle. They are real money monsters. Totally not legit the way things are done. Very smooth scam it’s like it’s all the way it’s suppose to be, but nope, nothing sits right. They should close. Do not get rent from them guys.
If l could have given zero then l would have. I have never had such a shockingly awful experience. Arrived at Belfast airport called for the shuttle to be told we were too early absolutely fine problem but then was informed that they didn’t have any cars available for us we ordered two. Long story short they told us to call car jet to see if we could transfer our booking and get a car at the airport. This l did but they said they don’t do that and called Drivalia who completely lied about our conversation l called them back and was told there wasn’t going to be any cars l am in Belfast airport with 3 children under three they didn’t give a damn and basically really didn’t care. I told him his service was shocking and he put the phone down on me when l called back he hung up. We were there for 5 hours before we finally had to book and pay another company £1400 for cars. Carjet we’re next to useless still waiting to hear back from them. Stay clear at all costs.
I will be honest they don’t even deserve one star. I have had an ongoing complaint with this company since June when l arrived at Belfast airport to be told sorry we don’t have any cars for you we had booked and paid for 2 cars in March. The man was extremely rude and didn’t give a damn that we were not going to get the service we paid for and hung up. 5 hours later we finally managed to hire cars at an additional £1200 . The beginning of our holiday was ruined and l have truly never experienced such horrendous service. I wrote a review before and was asked to forward the invoice for Eurocar which l did. I have never had any resolution no apologies I’m out of pocket and l have 3 times put my case to customer services and never had any correspondence apart from we’ve received it. Absolutely appalling behaviour cannot believe that a company of this size can treat its customers so badly. Sharon
The first error was mine - I left my credit card back in Azerbaijan, so an increase in cost was expected, despite my wife, the other named driver, having her credit card for our joint account. However, the rental more than doubled, as a result, which I think is nothing short of disgraceful. I have complained, but have received no coherent justifcation for such a huge price increase. I will never use Drivalia again. They keep replying with the same old comments, "it's in the hire agreement". I know - the question I asked was NOT why I had to pay more, but why it more than doubled my original quote. Try answering a question directly.
The very worst car rental company! The first time I rented the car was SO DIRTY I had to clean it at my own cost. Disgusting. The second time I booked a car, they gave my car to another person and I was stood empty handed! Unbelievable. And they did NOT refund my booking. Instead they directed my to they find print conditions. This is borderline criminal! AVOID AVOID AVOID
