Review Time
I had the dreaded ‘charged me for a year when I thought I was paying for a month’ thing people complain about, but then I clicked ‘help’ explained the issue and I got refunded. I’m now set up on the ‘pro’ plan monthly because I don’t like having to wait for my balance to update (you do with basic/ plus) and im quite happy. One or two gripes with the interface and adjusting my budget can be a bit of a faff but it’s still way clearer and easier to work with then just looking at bank statements
The app is super easy to use, and provides features and insights that my regular banking app doesn't. Being able to have all of my finances in one place is a huge boon as well, rather than switching between multiple apps to review my accounts, pension, savings, credit, etc., having it all on one screen makes managing everything straightforward.
I think this is going to be a really useful app when it is a bit more developed. I found the layout very pleasing, and a week's trial of pro was useful for spotting unwanted recurring payments. But it also incorrectly flagged up a point of sale payment in the same store as a recurring payment, which confused me. And I couldn't add my ISA as the institute is not yet linked.
I've tried two budgeting apps recently, this and Snoop. I subscribed to the top tier on both but I've ended up only using Emma. It tries to make budgeting fun by allowing you create your own categories and assign cute emoji to them. What really makes Emma stand out for me though is the concept of 'Spaces' - this allow me to separate my day to day personal accounts, savings and business accounts and choose to focus on one (or all) of them at once, in the app.
This is the best financial App available in my opinion, support is great and you are made to feel like more than a number. A recent referral didn't track but a quick email to support and the issue was resolved swiftly and the referral credit instantly applied to my account...thanks Izzie! :)
For a platform that is supposed to help you manage your finances, auto-enabling renewal and not refunding when requested is contradictory. When asked about a charge, I was told I agreed with the auto-renewal on the terms and conditions and couldn't claim a refund since the 14-day period had passed. It never worked as intended because of how I manage multiple accounts, and it seems it's become redundant as my online banking app offers something similar. Now I'll have to take a £90 loss on something I do not intend to use. Very frustrating!
