Without a subscription

Without a subscription, the Arlo camera system is absolutely useless (unless you want power cords and extensions cords running from each camera to a power source in your house). Very deceptive advertising and business practices. Apparently somewhere in the package once you receive it, they do state that subscription is required. However, that is never communicated prior to purchased. Customer service is horrible.

I have Pro5s, Pro4 and essential, with some with solar panel which keeps charging to 100% in summer, and never gets below 60% in winter. Those without panel last around 3 months between charge, had Pro4s for about 3yrs with little trouble, apart from a firmware update that was terrible. I think most negative reviews are from those that do not sort the basics first, wifi most likely issue. I do have a subscription which I pay $15nz ea month, which o consider reasonable, othwise you miss many features without. Only negative, some of their call centre staff not familiar with products. All wifi cameras have issues judging by reviews, but I am happy with mine

Feel like such an idiot

Feel like such an idiot. Bought a 3 camera setup. Got a micro SD to record locally so no subscription needed. Then find out that means zero functions remain on the 3 cameras I paid £800 for. Literally every feature is locked unless you commit to a subscription, rendering your cameras useless. Will be returning tomorrow if I can, otherwise selling the kit, what a pathetic company, clearly not content making money from selling physical goods, greed got the better of them. Hopefully they'll be shunted out of the market when enough people shop elsewhere.

Company is a scam

Company is a scam, if you don't pay monthly charge, they will cripple camera functions. Unless you pay huge monthly fee year after year, they will not let you use the camera properly

Been using Arlo for 3 years now

Been using Arlo for 3 years now. Cameras do work and software is easy to navigate and setup. The issue is with customer service and trying to cancel your subscription. They just kept raising the monthly rates and finally had enough. It is a pain to cancel and I'm hoping that will not charge my card again. Would not recommend. Going with Xfinity Home system. Wish me luck

Arlo doorbell

Bought the arlo doorbell. Tried to upgrade to the plan with continuous video recording to be told they don't offer that on the doorbells as its not a camera.. except its a video camera which records and stores the videos and it is wired to the house. Nowhere on the Website does it state this and I purchased the doorbell for that specific purpose. In fact on the doorbell purchase page it has a link to the secure plans available and it shows the cvr information on there. Extremely misleading and false advertising. Spoke to arlo they refused a refund as it is out of the box and used but then there is no way to purchase a plan without setting up the camera first! Awful customer service, takes forever to get through on the phone. Live chat doesn't work. Also the doorbell has a 5 second delay on detection and answering the doorbell via the phone and taking through the phone which is very frustrating, would have put up with that if could have purchased the continuous recording option but now I'm just going to sell on and go to another company.

I am writing to express my frustration…

I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment regarding my recent purchase of an Arlo base station, which was recommended to me by a Arlo agent. Unfortunately, the base station turned out to be incompatible with my Apple HomeKit, despite being assured otherwise.Over the past few months, I've dedicated considerable time and effort to resolve this issue through your customer service channels, only to discover that my cameras are not compatible as initially indicated. This miscommunication has caused significant inconvenience and wasted resources, especially during these challenging times of inflation.I was assured that someone would contact me within 24-48 hours, but regrettably, I haven't received any follow-up communication. This lack of response has added to my frustration, and I feel compelled to bring this matter to everyone’s attention.Made me spend $170 during an inflation and had every opportunity to do the right thing and return this device instead they stringed me along to go past the 30 day return policy.

DO NOT BUY AN ARLO ESSENTIAL CAMERA - INFERIOR DESIGN & PACKAGING

Purchased 2 Arlo Essential Cameras last summer and on initial setup they worked great. But since the batteries drained and I needed to recharge them (which requires uninstalling and bringing inside) I have had nothing but trouble. I finally decided to reach out to their support team and got the full story... 1. You MUST use ONLY a 5V 2A USB Charger which is not included with your purchase - this is not documented anywhere on their packaging, nor is it a standard configuration sold in popular electronic stores. I only found 1 option on Amazon (hope it works). You would think they would just include the charger! 2. They recommend only using the USB micro cable that comes with the camera - it's just 1' long. 3. It's recommended to plug the charger directly into a wall socket (again undocumented) - meaning you have to leave the camera on the floor to charge - how stupid. 4. And this is the kicker - the support guy told me that you will know the camera is charging properly when there are NO light indictors on. I can't think of a more counter-intuitive product design. And to make matters worse they insist you use the 2.4GHz band on your wifi router. I had to call my ISP to get them to create a 2nd SSID just to try to see if that solved the issue (pending)! Find another product.
