Crooks, plane and simple. I went onto their website and paid the toll charges and fine, cannot remember the exact amount (around £45) but the site did say I had paid. I thought no more about it until 1 month later when they sent me another letter to inform me that I have not paid and they are charging me further, now I have to fork out £145. I checked my bank statements but could find no trace of the transaction. So to me, this proves that their website indicates payment when no payment has been made to lull into the belief the charge has been paid. They can then wait another month and say you have not paid and charge even more. I have no proof of what I did previously; didn't realise I was going to be scammed by these crowd of ... Anyway, I will pay the charge and this time I will video record what I have done. If this time it says I have paid and find I have not, I will sue them!
Dit is het antwoord wat ik kreeg van de verhuurder van de auto met tolkastje, nadat ik de boete van EPC plc binnenkreeg.Dear,In 2022, there was an informatic problem between Via Livre (company managing A22) and CTT Portagens (company responsible for the toll information and payment).Autorocha had a toll management account in the CTT Portagens gateway to see all the toll information. After we had this information, we would charge the clients and pay for the tolls.This informatic problem resulted in CTT Portagens gateway not updating any toll movements. Therefore, our clients were not charged for the tolls during this period of time. Autorocha was not contacted by Via Livre or CTT Portagens about this matter.This issue become so big that the Portuguese Government changed the law and now is mandatory that all rental cars must have the Via Verde system installed.We have spoken with our lawyer and the conclusion we came to is as follows:It is not the clients’ fault nor Autorocha fault that the toll management was not functioning properly during this period of time.Via Livre did not try to collect the toll money first before selling the amount to EPC PLC.EPC PLC is only a debt collector and has no legal authority to enforce this amount.The best action to take is to not pay the amount and make a complaint to EPC PLC refuting this charge as it originated from an informatic problem between Via Livre and CTT Portagens where the toll information was never available.We also want to inform that since the amounts will not be paid, most likely, EPC PLC will send more letters with bigger amounts and a final Contractum Debt Services from a different company name from the same building as EPC. How can they be allowed get away with this unjustified harassment. I stayed and parked overnight a a days inn at services in Warwick. I have been getting letters and emails saying I was marked illegally. Days inn confirmed my right to park where I did. No matter what I tell and send evidence they keep sending fines. It's making me have a breakdown at 77 just out of hospital I can't cope with this.
