We have also received a fine today from when we were in Portugal in June 2018 for using a lane reserved for electronic toll collections!!!@ 2018, 5 years ago. The photo provided is completely unclear. Having read others reviews I'm in 2 minds whether to pay it. Is this a scam!!@
We have also just received a demand for driving in the electronic toll collection linen the Algarve in 2018! The photo of the "offence" is illegible although we were in Portugal at the time claimed. We have driven on Algarve motorways many times but used the system of paying in the Post Office after the event as I'm sure we did in 2018.
Just received a Penalty Charge Notice for an offence in October 2018 (using lane reserved for electronic toll collection). Must be a scam right? That’s over 5 years ago. Can’t even remember if I was in Portugal at the time as it’s that far back. They list the car reg, but not make or model so details are sparse. Anyone else seen this?
INCOMPETENT AND UNTRAINED STAFF who hide behind anonymity. I'm getting demand letters with different reference numbers. I've paid my road toll charges and was told that it was for another matter and that I owe an additional $144.44 which includes penalties.
Dit is het antwoord wat ik kreeg van de verhuurder van de auto met tolkastje, nadat ik de boete van EPC plc binnenkreeg.Dear,In 2022, there was an informatic problem between Via Livre (company managing A22) and CTT Portagens (company responsible for the toll information and payment).Autorocha had a toll management account in the CTT Portagens gateway to see all the toll information. After we had this information, we would charge the clients and pay for the tolls.This informatic problem resulted in CTT Portagens gateway not updating any toll movements. Therefore, our clients were not charged for the tolls during this period of time. Autorocha was not contacted by Via Livre or CTT Portagens about this matter.This issue become so big that the Portuguese Government changed the law and now is mandatory that all rental cars must have the Via Verde system installed.We have spoken with our lawyer and the conclusion we came to is as follows:It is not the clients’ fault nor Autorocha fault that the toll management was not functioning properly during this period of time.Via Livre did not try to collect the toll money first before selling the amount to EPC PLC.EPC PLC is only a debt collector and has no legal authority to enforce this amount.The best action to take is to not pay the amount and make a complaint to EPC PLC refuting this charge as it originated from an informatic problem between Via Livre and CTT Portagens where the toll information was never available.We also want to inform that since the amounts will not be paid, most likely, EPC PLC will send more letters with bigger amounts and a final Contractum Debt Services from a different company name from the same building as EPC. Received a parking fine for unpaid tolls in Portugal, had paid tolls up to date but 1euro 34 cents added on way to airport, this was 19 months ago but letter received with £30 admin fee, completely unjustified charge, appeal rejected, paid in full reluctantly, hope this company goes under, disgraceful ,
I have just received a letter accusing me of being in the wrong toll lane on the motorway in Portugal. I WASN'T EVEN IN PORTUGAL AT THE TIME OF THE SUPPOSED OFFENCES........apparently I am the owner of the portuguese car.......never owned a portuguese car in my life. What concerns me here is how are they getting people's personal data to do this??
I was sent a request for a toll on M50 in Dublin. We did register our car as noted in many signs and tried to pay but could not. Then after our journey we rang up and were told they (eFlow) did not have a record of our journey. So we tried hard to pay and then EPCPLC sent us a penalty notice. The system is very unfriendly and designed to catch out anyone unfamiliar with the city. I agree with other reviews that it is almost impossible to appeal or to register a complaint. You will get redirected by everyone to someone else so you end up going around in circles.
