We have had so much trouble with this company we are with Motability and three times we have had issues in the last month just trying to get a courtesy vehicle while our car goes into the garage.No phone call from them to say they have a vehicle or they don’t just leaving us not knowing what’s going on. Would definitely not recommend if you are in need of a courtesy car or to talk to you just get fobbed off and then the line goes dead when they redirect you or they just don’t answer.
Truly awful service for disabled customers – avoid if you canIf you are disabled and rely on Motability, avoid Europa Car Belfast at all costs. Unfortunately, they have the contract with Motability for hire cars if your vehicle breaks down – but that “service” is virtually non-existent.They rarely answer the phone, and when they finally do, they lie. I was told a car would be ready for me in 2 days. That never happened. A week later, I still have no car, no update, and no way of knowing when (or if) I’ll get one.I am disabled and live in a remote area with no access to shops or medical appointments without a vehicle. This delay has left me completely stranded and put my health at risk. The lack of care or urgency for a disabled customer’s needs is absolutely shocking.Europa Car Belfast have shown themselves to be unreliable, dishonest, and completely unsympathetic to the needs of vulnerable people. If you have any other option, take it – because you cannot count on them.
Wonderful experience during my visit to the company at manchester airport. The customer service i received from your Manager , the young lady from Liverpool, was courteous, very helpful and exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Europcar UK and will definitely be using their company again. Sandra Archer.
Waited around 45 mins to collect from Palma. Charged 76 euros for a scuff to black plastic trim which was pre existing. Note: Europcar require the customer to phone a call centre to report any pre existing damage putting all the onus on the customer to scan the car and spend time during their holiday doing what I believe they should be doing themselves.
I booked a vehicle for a family holiday in France and picked it up from the airport and drove approx. 1.5 to 2 hours to my destination. I used the car maybe twice more before going to use it once more and finding it would not start. I spoke to customer service who sent a mechanic but he was unable to repair the car and so the car was towed away, leaving me without a vehicle. Upon speaking to customer services again they informed me they would be able to provide a vehicle the following day, but that I would have to travel back to the airport to pick it up and then drive it all the way back to my destination. As I only had a couple of days left of my holiday I suggested instead that rather than sending a taxi to take me to pick up the car they instead send a taxi to take my family back to the airport on our last day. On our last day we waited for our taxi, and after waiting nearly 20 minutes we called them and they said the taxi was stuck in traffic but on their way. Following another call the taxi finally arrived 75 minutes late. This caused us a large amount of stress, although luckily we made our flight.Upon returning home I received an invoice for fuel at the extortionate refuel rate charged when you don't fill the tank. I immediately contacted Europcar and advised the reason I hadn't filled the car was because it had been taken away on a tow truck. The fee was refunded, and I thought this was the end of the matter. Now, however, I am being chased for a further invoice for upgrading my vehicle, something I did not agree to. I did pick my car up 30 minutes early and was told there would be a fee of 10 euros which I was happy to pay, but I'm still being asked for a further £75 approx. I am currently still awaiting a response regarding my complaint. I will say the people I spoke to on the phone whilst trying to arrange a new car were polite and spoke excellent English which greatly helped, but unfortunately this does not make up for the nightmare of a rental and follow up I have had to endure. I would strongly advise anyone not to use Europcar. I booked with them because they were the cheapest company. Lesson learned.*** Additional: 28th October ***So despite me emailing this shambolic company MULTIPLE times over a period of weeks, they have completely ignored me and referred me to a debt collector over this £75 they claim I owe them despite me asking for an explanation, and despite me asking for the ignored queries to be escalated to a manager.I urge you, please think twice before using this company. Their business practices are downright shady in my opinion and they simply ignore any communication they receive with regards to complaints. Spend a little extra and go with a reputable company, it will save you stress and money in the long run. I am apparently now banned from using them. As Jeremy Clarkson would say... "Oh no! Anyway..."*** Additional: 2nd November ***Still ignored. Ended up paying the "outstanding" amount just to get them to leave me alone. I hope this review loses them business and costs them more than the £75 they've conned out of me.
We have been waiting at Dublin airport for 2 hours for car and it is still “ being washed” with no exact time as to when it will be ready. Staff friendly but not helpful - they just keep saying it’s other people’s faults for not returning car quick enough and they can’t give us a time frame!!! We have a disabled elderly person with us who needs to eat but staff unconcerned about this as we stand waiting in their crowded office for hours with no cafe anywhere nearby. We also have 4 people waiting in Dublin City for us so we will be missing the first half day of our holiday! I would definitely NOT recommend this company! I am watching people quickly collect their cars from other providers! I wish I’d read reviews before booking with this company. I will never use again!
I booked a seat Leo cupra but got a ford puma. This is a great car but I prefer from vw gene pool.I returned the car with no additional charges. While waiting it took over an hour to pick up the car, despite only 4 people ahead of me. This was very slow but maybe there's more to it than you'd think. I had bought excess insurance but they tried to sell me there's which is way more expensive but comes with the comfort no money will leave your account whatever happens. I have enough money to cover an excess so that's not a worry for me. A lady from an Eastern European country outside eu i think was not given the car as she'd no return flight. She was there from 9 and I left around 1. Totally unacceptable as it should be part of booking procedure if required. They said the car might go missing but the criminal damage was them stealing from her I thought.
Arrived at Belfast International around 22:00 (08/08/25), very much expecting desk to be shut. But was met by a delightful lady, who had stayed on and was extremely helpful. This lady is a testament to how great, customer service can be and definitely deserves an award.
I arranged a hire of a Luton van and when it turned up the driver noticed someone had stolen the number plate ! They arranged for a LWB van to be delivered and this had a front tyre that was 1/3 bald ! The driver said you can take it to Kwikfit and they will change it for you , as it's our problem we willpay for it ! Oh yeah , sure I'm going to waste a few hours of my time for a problem caused by them. On top of that he said he saw the Luton was missing the number plate the day before , but thought he would keep quiet and not report it to the office !!! Unbelievable .... Then they would not answer the phone at the local depot and I did not get a hire at all ! I wish Trustpilot gave you the option to give a minus score s it would be -5 ! Don't use them is my recommendation.
