After having two disasterous experiences with Sixt and Enterprise, dealing with Europcar was a welcome relief. Firstly the staff are friendly, well turned out in their uniforms and the branch at heathrow was clean and had useful food machines. We were dealt with quickly and efficiently. The whole thing from the beginning, on arrival to driving out in the car took 15 minutes. Fantastic
Complete joke, we dropped off the car at Lanzarote airport no one there to check the car over. got home to discover a claim from europcar for a scratch that we hadn't caused for £350. The car was damaged, dented and scratched from previous hiring that we highlighted to them when we picked it up. I'm sure all this damage had been previously claimed and paid but never repaired. Just complete scammers and insurance fraudsters!! Wilkl never use again!! Beware you will receive a claim! Probably even using old photos as claim and damage proof!!
The experience with the car itself was fine. What really let me down was the treatment I received.I arrived with my quote for the car ready, online check in completed, ready to pick up my vehicle.Then the employee proceeded to ask me what option I wanted for insurance, giving me only two, and choosing his words deliberately making it sound like what I was choosing was the option that would leave my quote unaltered.Perhaps there was an element of me being naive but the same thing happened to the person before me, so I tend to think it’s a tactic they use.When it came to the payment, lo and behold, the price was DOUBLED.So, when they give you insurance options, make sure to ask what ALL your options are, and make sure to specify that you want the cheapest/no additional insurance. Otherwise they will try to take you for all you’re worth.That’s without even mentioning the lack of care, they are supposed to come out and show you the car’s features, how to use it, etc. Mine was an EV which I had never used before, he just gave me the keys and sent me on my way.Overall extremely negative experience.
I recently had a car delivered by Europcar mobility section while my mobility car was being repaired after I was rear ended, the car was left outside my property unlocked and they left the key and paperwork with my son, when I went out to the car the next day I found it had a couple of dents that weren’t on the paperwork.When they picked up the car I made sure it had a full tank of fuel, but then they tried taking £49.60 out of my bank account, I complained and sent proof of the amount of fuel it had in, they then admitted it was full but are now trying to make me pay for delivery and return mileage fuel ! This company are Scam artists!!!
Booked car rental with Keddy (Europcar).Once the rental was complete Europcar charged me EUR 354.90 for Premium Protection Package & Premium Station Surcharge.I was never advised about these extra charges and never agreed to them (they were added to the Rental Contract without my knowledge).
Miss sold upgraded carWe arrived to pick up our car 20 minutes early and were told our car was not ready and that they could not tell us when our car would be ready. But that if we wanted we could take an upgraded car that was ready to go for £20. Given that I had 2 young children (4 and 1) with me and we’d been on a long flight, I didn’t want to wait an indefinite length of time for the car I’d booked to be ready, so I said I would pay £20 in order to take the car that was ready and leave the airport.It was only once my card was charged that I double checked the contract and had been charged £20 PER DAY. Had this been clearly explained there is no way I would have paid £200 to leave the airport 20 minutes early. The upgrade was not sold honestly and I have been left feeling tricked by what is meant to be a reputable company. Would definitely not recommend and be very careful in trusting any information given to you in personAlso, please do not reply saying to raise an issue on the link as you have with the negative reviews of other people, I already submitted a complaint using this process on 28 April and have received no response 10 days later
I accidentally booked with Europcar because somehow they were the first non-ad when I searched for Enterprise Rent-a-Car. They asked me a lot of details and I jumped through the hoops with app and account etc. On the day they sent me emails preparing me for my hire and I got to the counter they said they were refusing to hire it to me. No explanation, no extra details taken. Their system said no. I asked why they couldn’t have told me this when I booked it and they said it was their policy not to check eligibility until the customer turned up on the day. I travelled hours to get there and they left me no time to find an alternative. Fair enough if for some undisclosed reason you don’t want to rent it to me but this nonsense policy wasted a lot of my time and left me in a sketchy situation. And this could happen to anyone and you’ll never know till you get there
Five stars isn't enough. Speaking for the Yeovil branch; not only is the actual hiring of the vehicle effortless, but all of the staff I've dealt with (at least five different faces so far) have been extremely pleasant, super down-to-earth, always up for a good natter about the cars or otherwise. Not a bad bone in that building. Thank you so very much.
Absolutely atrocious service...I arranged and pre paid for a van hire for 1 day, arrived at the depot at the agreed time all relevant documents and credit card ( in my name ) only to be told they can't hire to me as their system isn't able to identify me at my address ( a soft credit search ) I have hire vehicles from numerous agencies all over the world and have never had this experience.The don't appreciate or care how this will effect the clients reasons for hire.While I appreciate there are always two sides to a story and people only write their version of events but this is actually how i was treated. I appreciate they have to protect their assets but surely a better systems should be in place i this day and age.Never rent from them.
