Review Time
Booked a compact elite car, when I arrived to pick up the attendant at the desk was using fear mongering to get me to pay for extra protection cover which costed more than the total rental of the car. He told me that even if someone else scratches or hits my car I will have to pay a massive sum of money as excess. In the past I haven’t added this cover and had no issues but this time the attendant was being really pushy and made me feel so uncomfortable that I added it anyway. He made very clear to me the only charges that will come out my account is the extra protection charge, the deposit, and the toll payer. I double checked with him because I already felt very ripped off paying over double what I booked the car at and he reassured me that was all the costs- nothing else would be taken from me. After I gave my car back I got an invoice with 2 extra charges that made the total 3 TIMES what I initially agreed on. My card was already set up from when I collected so they took the money. I emailed them a whole month ago and they refuse to get back to me to explain why I was lied to about costs. DO NOT book with them, you will see a price online - multiply that be THREE if you want the actual cost of hiring it. Customer service doesn’t even exist so you won’t be helped after the fact either. Appalling company and I’ll never book with them again. Some of the cheaper companies are actually a lot better..
My flight was diverted to Toulouse, my booked hire car was in Carcassonne Obviously stressed, as any passenger would be in the circumstance, I arranged an alternative at Toulouse. The office there oversold and, because I was so stressed, I wasn't thinking at the time and I signed the contracted. Later, I realised that the excess insurance which I had been told was included was an added extra (cover I didn't need) and I also realised that I should have been offered a one-way hire for one day, rather than being given a cancellation of my week's hire at Carcassonne and a new hire one-way hire from Toulouse for the week at a cost of some €600 more. No apology from Eurocar. Just a "tough luck, you signed". They'll not get that chance again from me, even if they're the cheapest option.
As countless others have said here DO NOT USE - go with any other company but Europcar. Just look at the cut and paste response to all the poor reviews here and avoid at all costs. I can only assume they are a terrible employer to have employees who care so little about their customers.
I had a very disappointing experience with Europcar. I had planned to rent a car for a long weekend, and although they accepted my booking, they failed to provide the specific vehicle I reserved. There were no suitable alternatives offered, and I was left with no real choice but to accept whatever was available. I ended up cancelling my rental which ruined my weekend plan. Not received my money as well. The lack of transparency and poor customer service were extremely frustrating. I do not plan to rent from Europcar again and would not recommend them to others.
Never been treated so badly by a hire company They take the money off you online then cancel your vehicle I had this happen 4 times trying to arrange a suitable collection date over 24hrs they took a total of £1500 out of my account 3 days later I’m still waiting for the refund I actually travelled 25 miles to pick up a van from them that had been confirmed online 2 days earlier only to be sent away empty handed on foot …. Terrible customer service
I am sure I am not the only customer being abused financially by this no name company . I booked to rent a car for few days however I realised that I messed up the dates . I rung to cancel and I have been told that I need to pay £45 as my cancelation was not done with 48 hours before. I tried to explain as much as I could however apparently those are the policies of the company . This company appears very unprofessional and more then this they made the rules how they want . I hope and I wish that sooner then latter they will be close down , looking on all those bad reviews somebody needs to take some legal actions . I will go forward with my complain as I felt being financially abused by them in a country when everyone should be treat with respect and dignity .
DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM THESE SCAMMERS We had pre-ordered hire car which included insurance. I picked up the car from Glasgow airport and signed for the car. Later when I looked at the paperwork I noticed I had been charged for premium protection and roadside assistance. I did not ask for this and I was not told this had been added to the rental cost. I have been mis-sold and taken advantage off. The staff at you Glasgow airport desk do not operating in a customer friendly manor. I explained that my wife deals with these things for me as I'm not very good that this kind of thing, I was very clear about this.
I had Prebooked with a Carflexi Voucher from abroad but was denied rental when arriving at the (Heathrow) pickup desk due to Europcar's error. The worst part was that they couldn't contact their own internal department to correct the system because that department was closed for the long weekend.I was left stranded and so had to go next door to Hertz and pay a large amount more for a 'walkup' rate hire (but was fortunate they had a car available.) I have still not had my original pre-paid deposit refunded (but in fairness to Europcar, that would be by Carflexi - another issue).A bit more explanation if needed - after hiring a car from Europcar the previous year, I received a notification from them that I had been issued an automated parking fine & associated Europcar admin fee (I don't have an issue with paying an admin fee for any legitimate infringement). However, I successfully challenged the parking ticket and Europcar confirmed they had rescinded the Admin Fee. Then I got a follow up letter from their Collecting-Agents / Solicitors chasing payment of the Admin Fee. Again, I sent the correspondence to them and again Europcar assured me this was rescinded and they had corrected it in their systems. They obviously couldn't be bothered to actually do that. When I arrived at Heathrow (after a long flight) they said they could not provide a car to me because I was on the 'watchlist' for this very same 'outstanding invoice'. I realized exactly what the issue was, but the department I needed to talk to was closed for the weekend. When they opened a few days later, they confirmed they were in error & I should not have been denied rental - but it was way too late by then.Absolutely appalling systemic incompetence on Europcars part.
I would give 0/5 if possible. Bunch of scammers at Heathrow airport. We booked 8 months in advance and they didn't have the car we requested when we got there. Had no choice but to get the "upgrade" which ended up costing 3x the original quote. We complained after and nothing can be done. They don't care about anything but money
I have been waiting in since Wednesday for someone to come and pick a car up from our address had someone waiting in all end of week said there a hour away no one turned up still waiting now if no one comes tomorrow I will leave keys under the car because it is an absolute joke waiting in and no one turning up and the company is europcar
