No Empathy. My Biggest Mistake…

I strongly advise against renting with Europcar! Please don't make the same mistake I did. They show a complete lack of empathy towards their customers. I accidentally made a reservation and canceled it almost immediately—only 18 minutes later at 01:15 AM. Despite explaining that the booking was unintentional, Europcar still charged me a fee of £45.

Scam Fees - Use Card chargeback Asap

The inspecting agent input the wrong return location - Europcar charged us 79 Euros for returning our car. I sent numerous emails to Europcar customer services UK supplying clear proof of their error. After wasting hours on many detailed emails, Europcar still refused to refund our €79 fee. Europcar 'customer services' clearly exist as a barrier to refuse customer refunds and prevent case resolution. I successfully had a full refund from Mastercard after sending evidence for processing a chargeback against Europcar. I wish I had done it much sooner. So process your credit card chargeback directly after any first refusal in writing ( use email ) from Europcar customer service. Customer services are absolute time wasters. I will never use Europcar again.

Horrendous experience from Preston branch

Don’t use this company if you value your sanity I have spent two days trying to have a car collected as part of the hire arrangement and despite multiple phone calls to the central office as despite trying multiple times there is no answer from the Preston branch Europcar arrive at my property today and walk past their car and post a letter advising the vehicle is now overdue if they had bothered to knock on my door they could of taken the car we unfortunately cannot return the car to them as we are no longer insured to drive it and not one person within the company will help so totally at loss with nowhere to turn the stress is horrendous and I would NOT recommend this company to anyone

Second 1star review first issue not progresse…

Having already put in a 1 star review about trying to access my account to book a car - tgot access once but had issues so logged out and tried to log back in again told details incorrect tried about 6 password reset none worked - got reply from them with a link to send more details. Even when you say it’s pre rental issue it asks for the country . Pick up location and date of booking. Having gone through the pages it gave the following message sorry your request could not be sent retry or call us all I want to do is access my account to book a car

Fraudulent company - stay away from Europcar!

Europcar UK, stop ripping off customers! This company withdraws money from its customers bank accounts without their consent! Report them if you experience the same and if you haven’t booked any “service” with them, refrain from it and ever make any booking with them!

I rented a van as usual

I rented a van as usual, returned the van full of fuel as normal. It registered as 7-8 full on the car monitor but I spoke to the guy on reception and he said with some of the brands even though it’s full Somtimes it doesn’t register as full even though it is. I then received an invoice for them charging me for missing fuel even though I’d been back to clarify with the guy and have proof of fuel and cctv footage of me filling up as it’s next door to the depot. Disgusting treatment of customers.

Daylight robbery (LITERALLY)

I have been hiring a car for a month with various returns to the branch to extend / return & rehire.I was charged a late fee when I was not late (£54) to then be charged a further £316 from my bank without authorisation when I queried the late charge!My £250 deposit has not been returned yet customer services are ignoring all questions with regards to my deposit.Europcar currently have £621.18 of my money with no care that I have a family to feed and bills to pay. They are currently telling me they are going to refund me £146.83 which is nowhere near the amount they have stolen from me.One mess up on their end has caused a whole string of problems.I have no idea why they thinks it’s acceptable to just take money from accounts for absolutely no reason. I currently still have the hire car but I will not be hiring again after this.

Absolutely feel scammed. Do not give them your bank details. I have two receipts sent from them explaining a late fee , another calling a reversal.

Thieving Europcar rip off

I hired a car from Europ rip off car for 1 week. I had paid for a full tank of feul in advance with the idea being that what you don't use you get refunded for. I paid £80 and only used about £25 at best. This bunch of thieves then charged me the whole £80 and refused a refund. If possible avoid these thieving vermin and go for a much better car rental company. Which would be every other car rental company in the world.

Very disappointedI was requested under pressure to pay extra £71.40 as “After Hours” fee when we arrived Birmingham airport for car collection. Due to a flight delay, we arrived at 11:04 PM—just 4 minutes past office hoursWe did promptly call their office at 7:30pm (UK time) in Italy before departure once we knew there was flight delay. This staff, who is on duty, confirmed he could wait up to 30 minutes beyond the usual closing time – until 11:30 PM. We expressed our deep appreciation in phone.Before making the car booking, we contacted your Customer Service team to clarify what would happen in the event of a flight delay, given that your office hours end at 11:00 PM. We were assured that, as long as we provided our flight number, your staff would monitor our arrival and wait for us accordingly. Based on this reassurance, we proceeded with the booking and submitted our flight informationWe explained our situation and referenced the prior conversation with that staff. However, he remained adamant. When we requested an official policy document justifying this charge, he became defensive, accused us of being impolite, and refused to provide any documentation. He then stated that unless we paid the fee, he would close the office and WITHOUHOLD the car.Adding to our discomfort, before demanding the late fee, this staff spent over five minutes trying to upsell us additional insurance. We informed him that we had already purchased full coverage. He replied confidently—but misleadingly—that full coverage did not include wheels and tires, and pressured us to purchase more coverage. When we declined, his attitude changed abruptly, and he immediately brought up the “After Hours” charge.Lastly, when we arrived at 11:04 PM, the staff member had just finished completing the documentation for the previous customer. He was not simply waiting in the office for serving us.I fully agree that flight delay was not Europcar’s fault and was not their responsible for this either.However, they did not keep promise and still charged us after failing to sell us insurance, simply because we were only 4 minutes late. They not only refused to issue a refund, but also failed to provide any documentation justifying the 'late charge' as per their Terms and ConditionsPlease think carefully before ordering a car from them, even if their initial prices seem cheaper.
