Reuben from Branch Chelmsford was…

Reuben from Branch Chelmsford was absolutely fantastic in assisting me! He offered excellent service along with truly valuable advice. I needed to rent for three weeks, and every time I went in to extend the rental, he was always friendly, helpful, and professional.Despite being very young, Reuben is a real gem for your company — a true diamond in the rough. He consistently found ways to assist me and made the entire experience smooth and positive. My experience was overwhelmingly positive; I honestly couldn’t have asked for better. Reuben, you were amazing and incredibly supportive — thank you so much for all your help!

BE CAREFULL USING EUROPCAR UK

We booked a car via sunny cars for eur 350. When we came back home I received an extra amount to pay of eur 500 for upgrade car, surcharge airport and insurance. This is what happenend. We were in a hurry , because we had a delay with the airplane and had a meeting. The woman who helped us , Sharon, was very nice and said to help us as quickly as possible and that everything was taken care of. She said that she would provide us with a nice car. She saw that we already had full coverage via Sunny cars so also no need to check the car. “ We have to block a certain amount on your credit card but that is for deposit purposes only” she said “ You just have to sign here , here and here and then you can go “ So that is what happened . When we were back in the Netherlands I received your mail about the credit card payment. AN EXTRA eur 500 ( apart from the gasoline which is OK ) This is part of their business model . BE CAREFULL with EUROPCAR UK

Disgusting

Booked a car through an agency for 350 EUR for six days, were offered an upgrade for 30 GBP per day and were charged 625 GBP extra in the end. Contacted UK Customer Service, who did nothing about it. Unethical company that robs clients. A shameful way of making money. Disgusting. And don’t think Europcar tries to resolve this issue by adding the reply below. If Europcar wanted to resolve anything, they had every chance. So no. They will never see us again.

They charged me £800 extra for being under 25 and told me I would get it back as a deposit but now have been chasing me to pay and I’ve had to borrow money to settle this no solution or communication

MISLEADING UPGRADE

If you are asked if you would like to try another car DO NOT AGREE!!! Ask what the additional charge is.They are doing a scam at the moment (particularly with new electric cars) where you are led to believe you are getting a complimentary upgrade. There is deliberately NO mention of an additional charge. Once you sign the paperwork you won't get a refund as you have agreed to the "customer choice" charge. TOTAL CON and a form of money theft really.

AWFUL FROM START TO FINISH

AWFUL FROM START TO FINISH. I hired a van for the day, on a Saturday, to help a family member move house. I paid nearly £80 for the pleasure, along with a £100 deposit and £36 insurance upgrade. The collection process was simple and straight forward, and the bloke who helped me was nice. However, I was told I would need to leave the van in a nearby carpark when I was done with it, as there was no where else to leave it out of hours, but that it would be picked up at 1pm on the Sunday (the following day). Fair enough, although it would have been useful to know this upon booking. I dropped the van off 3 hours before my rental period ended at 7pm on the Saturday, and paid for the parking until the next day (as advised by the staff member) for 12 hours at nearly £8. I received a return statement and invoice on the Monday to say that I was being charged an additional £114.45 as I didn’t hand the car back until the Monday! I contacted customer via phone and email, and sent proof of my drop off, the carpark receipt and all additional info I had to and they essentially fobbed me off and told me it was my fault and that I had indeed dropped the car off on the Monday. They explicitly said I had been charged correctly. They then stopped replying to my emails. I phoned the branch where I hired the van from and they accepted that they had wrongly charged me BUT it took almost 4 weeks to get my money back, and in total I spoke to 6 different people who were useless at helping me. I kept being told ‘it should be with you soon, call back in 2 days’. Overall, a horrific service and unless you push and press them, they are reluctant to accept fault and refund you. I didn’t get one apology during this experience. DO NOT USE THEM.

No Car

Our car was damaged on the Friday and the insurance put, us in touch with Europcar for a hire car until the car was repaired the following Monday. We were told they would contact us to take the £1 deposit and get us a car. We heard nothing from them. We made several calls to organise a car but, never got a car or even a call back from them. When we were told our car may not be repaired by then end of Monday, we contacted Europcar again and they told us they would deliver a car to us by 5pm. The car never arrived. Luckily our car was repaired by 2pm. We did not cancel the hire car. It just never turned up and Europcar haven't even bothered to contact us. We called them to make a complaint and they gave a number to call to make a complaint. We called that number and the woman was quite snotty and would not take the complaint.

What a trapdoor this company is

What a trapdoor this company is. Stay away please take my advice. The errors this company has made against me has cost me thousands of pounds. I am currently trying to retrieve over £1100 that Europcar took out of my account on a saturday morning without any authorisation and having never had a hire car from them. I tried to get a hire the previous month for work for 30 days. I entered everything for them and paid in full before going to collect the car from Manchester airport. When I got there the very aggressive and uninterested staff informed me that they were going to do a credit check on my address. I was not worried as I own my own house lived there for years and don't do credit or debt. The guy comes back and refuses me the car hire. I'm like hang on this can't be right. Also why was this check not done before I'd paid my money. The staff refused to help me I any way and would not allow me to speak to a more senior member of staff. There message to me was go somewhere else you are not getting anything from us today. I was left standing there having giving up the day to collect the car in the first place. I was informed that it would take 20 days to get my money back. Europcar held my money in their account making interest for days before I eventually got it back. No car and no money for 10 days. I launched an investigation to find out why my address had an issue only to find out that the poorly educated and extremely rude member of staff had entered next doors address. I feel he did it on purpose. These guys were a real bad bunch at Manchester Airport Branch. On the 28th April for no reason Europcar took from my account the money again. I have still nor had it back. There is no one to complain to at Europcar there is no real customer service to speak off. These accessed my personal data withdraw money from my account and have held onto it. I have had to register it as a theft with he police I've had to buy a vehicle in order to start my new job at the cost of £8000 taxed and insured lost days in work as a result of it. I don't think I've ever been so badly treated by a company in my life. I actually thought that this type of behaviour by a company was not possible in this day and age but it is. Don't be fooled by this company with the green t-shirt and little euro logo this guys are scam artists and should not be trading at all. I will be bring to the whole thing to trading standards and data protection etc. I never take the time to write reviews but I am writing this to try and save others from being scared like I was. Please stay away from these guys especially at the Manchester Airport branch.

Had a good experience

Had a good experience. First time I’ve used Europcar and the team at the Slough branch was very helpful. I also really enjoyed being able to return the vehicle out of hours as our schedule was a little crazy and happened to change and we were able to drop the van off and leave the keys in their safe box which was super helpful. The van that we hired was nice and we will definitely be using them again

Bait and Switch

Bait and Switch, it's their standard practice from my experience. Just this morning I spoke to a friend who had exactly the same experience with these shonky pricks. They present you with two sets of keys (presumably because they don't have the car you have already booked and paid for), then, when you ask what the price difference is, they say "50 pounds", or "30 pounds" in my friends case. They conveniently forget to mention PER DAY.My friend was clever enough to catch them before he signed. I was not, and it tripled the cost of the rental. They have no interest in reversing the transaction with ended up costing my wife and I (who were both at the desk, and both heard the Europcar staffer NOT mention that it was a daily charge), 1250 pounds extra!Read the other reviews. You will find that it is their standard tactic. They are amoral and unprofessional.Complete shysters.STAY AWAY!
