Farmers Cancels California Policies

After doing business with Farmer's Insurance for several years. They decide to cancel all policies in California. I would never do business with them again. After reading other comments on here about Farmer's Insurance, they have also canceled polices in other states as well. I hope they end up going out of business.

Awful experience

Awful experience! I've been a customer for over a decade. I had an accident, I was not at fault, I went through the insurance of the other driver. After I settled, I called Farmers to cancel coverage. They canceled my policy, now I can't get insurance on a new vehicle because I have a lapse in coverage. Their call center is in India now, they barely speak English, don't understand their policies and the connection is poor and it's hard to hear anything but static.

Cancelled before hurrican season

Run, they are the biggest SCAM I've encountered in the insurance industry. They have a track record of cancelling homeowners in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and the Carolinas just before hurricane season. The are COMPLETE crooks.

Terrible company, doesn’t pay fair claims

Terrible company. They have no problem taking your money, but don’t want to pay out when you need them. Customer service has no interest in helping, but only to save the company and pay out as little as possible.

These parasites promised a 14.00 dollar…

These parasites promised a 14.00 dollar reduction in my rate if I went paperless. Went paperless. They sent out the payment notice reflecting the 14.00 reduction. Today received notice that they are removing the 14.00 reduction and will require full payment. No reason given. These loathsome thieves will soak you every time. Will be actively looking for a new carrier.

This is honestly the worst insurance…

This is honestly the worst insurance company I ever dealt with. I was a customer of theirs for only two weeks because it was a complete disaster in those two weeks. I signed up with Jacob Chopa Who did not add the correct coverages and when I contacted him he told me he would call me back by the end of the day he never did so for the next three days I called and emailed but he completely ignored me. I then spent the next two weeks talking to customer service reps who each time assured me everything would be fine. They told me they took my payment and that I was all paid in full yet the money was still in my bank account. The final straw is when one of the Farmers agents called me back and then I guess they thought they put me on hold but didn’t. I proceeded to hear him whispering with some female and she said oh no, don’t tell her that and they were talking about my account until finally I said excuse me you know I can hear you right? As soon as I said that they hung up the phone! I called back and cancelled!

High Fire Insurance in California…

Our Farmers agent is the only person who could get our home insured in California, in a 99/100 high fire area.Although he couldn’t get the insurance through Farmers, he reached out to other companies and made it happen.

We had farmers insurance for 30 years…

We had farmers insurance for 30 years and never used a dime! There was a small fire in our Kitchen it burned thecorner of a cabinet and the corner of a window!Farmers came in and gutted my Beautiful kitchen, which was beautiful well-made, high-quality cabinets and put in some trash, broken down, garbage Cabinets made out of press board where the drawer fall off And doors on cabinets come loose because it’s all made out of pressboard garbage !They made money off my fire. They didn’t help me at all. They’re the worst insurance company ever. Do not trust them for anything. They’re today liars and thieves !

Horrible experience

Was courted by Farmers with a great price on auto and home. Switched to them and for 1st year 2023 all was good. NO claims. In 2024 renewal cars went up 100%. From 342 for six months to 852 now. Home went up 30%. What really angered me was I paid in full on both policies and they charged me an extra 30.00 because even though I bought both policies from Farmers rep they weren't the same company. They cared so little about me as a customer so I will be switching from them soon.

Horrible communications and customer…

Horrible communications and customer service qualities. Very unprofessional group of people who are either poorly trained, educationally unprepared for the job or just downright crooked. Everything that can go wrong is likely to go wrong and they can’t figure out why. Other companies just plain do better in all respects.

Business Details

  • In 1928, two men shared a dream of providing a quality insurance product at a reasonable price. In the decades that followed we’ve grown and adapted to meet the changing needs of Americans. But one constant has remained: We have an unwavering commitment to uphold our founding ideals to provide industry-leading products and first-rate services to the customers we’re privileged to serve.

    Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service
Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans.
In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you.
Today, the companies comprising the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies make up one of the country's largest insurers of vehicles, homes and small businesses and provide a wide range of other insurance and financial services products.
Farmers is proud to serve more than 10 million households with more than 19 million individual policies across all 50 states through the efforts of over 48,000 exclusive and independent agents and nearly 21,000 employees.
The Farmers Exchanges are three reciprocal insurers (Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange) owned by their policyholders, and together with their subsidiaries and affiliates comprise the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Farmers Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries, in their capacity as attorneys-in-fact, provide administrative and management services to the Farmers Exchanges.
