Review Time
If I could give a zero I would. What a horrible company. They acquired my policy from MetLife, with whom I had insurance for nearly 40 years. It is one disaster after another. They cannot be contacted directly. They only deal through agents. If you see the positive reviews on this site it is for local independent agents, not the company. I paid my premium on time but they or the Post Office lost the check. I got a threatening letter about cancellation and sent another check only to find out later that they cashed the first check. I was also charged a late fee. I am trying to cancel my policy but was told that there is a fee because all this time I've been covered by their insurance. I bet if I made a claim, which I never have, they would definitely deny it for no coverage. This is a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE company. Do not under any circumstances get insurance through them. Completely incompetent. And, as one can see from other comments they are claiming "growing pains" for the the transfer of MetLife policies. BS. If you can't handle something that simple how can you handle a complicated claim. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!!
What went wrong? What went right?A towing reimbursement requires an adjustor. Before, with MetLife, I would submit the receipt to a MetLife towing email address and receive a check within 7 business days. Now, I have to wait for a call from an adjustor. He/She has 10 business days to call. The representative on the phone asked if I could drive the car. Why would I have the car towed if I could drive it to my mechanic?
If I could give zero stars I would. Farmers Insurance is the shadiest insurance company with whom i have done business. They will lie, cheat and collaborate against you to save their bottomline $$. I have been a loyal client with Farmers for 16 years. One of the reasons I chose them is because the homeowners insurance covered roofing cost no matter the age. They changed my policy without proper notification to me. Now, they are refusing to cover the cost of repairing my roof. About 7 months ago, Farmers changed my roof coverage without notifying me. I spoke with a Farmers representative, Eric, who told me my policy was emailed to me. He said I requested to receive it paperless. This is not true. I have auto and home insurance policies with Farmers. My auto policy/billing statement and my home insurance billing statements are all mailed to me. Coincidently, my homeowners policy is the only one supposedly that I requested "paperless." Makes No Sense. I have never requested paperless policy documents! Therefore, I would not be looking to receive my policy by email. My insurance agent Annette Adamcik said my homeowners insurance should have been sent by mail then she said email and then she changed back to by mail. Annette Adamcik (my agent) tells me, "oh those new representatives don't really know anything." She said, "I spoke to a seasoned representative and he said you should have received your policy by mail." Bull. They lie and say anything to save their dollars. I received nothing by mail or email. If I had received the notice and became aware my roof coverage was going to change I would have had it inspected before the renewal, BUT OF COURSE THAT IS WHAT THEY DID NOT WANT. They are confused and they try to confuse you with all their fast talk. The company and my agent say they will "investigate" the matter. They do not call back until you email or reach out to them. Claims representative Kyle "investigated" and said that I requested paperless so it was emailed to me. Then in the next sentence also states my policy was mailed to me on October 4, 2022. Why would Farmers do both when you said I requested paperless and that's been your grounds for not honoring RCV coverage of my roof. Meanwhile, I am left with a $15,000 roof repair. They are BIG Liars! Beware! Please don't think they care about your business. They don't! I think they operate by the motto that a "sucker" is born everyday. My agent Annette Adamcik told me the agents decided not to inform clients about the roof coverage change because Farmers was sending communication. Mrs. Adamcik and I speak on the phone throughout the year, specifically during policy renewal time. I even have her cell number and she has mine. My agent can talk to me about her daughters, grandchildren, mother, family life and everything else, taking up 30 to 40 minutes of my valuable time, but NEVER mention that there would be a change to my homeowners insurance coverage!! That is complete NEGLIGENCE on the part of the agent! I trusted my agent because of the relationship I thought we had. Annette Adamcik knew my roof coverage change and allowed this harm to fall upon her client. Don't be fooled by the friendly conversation. Annette is about the business! I want them to honor the policy that I have had for over 15 years.Farmers and Annette Adamcik were intentionally negligent in informing me of my homeowners policy changes. The confusion they caused worked to their advantage. I would not recommend Farmers Insurance!
If I could give I negative I would. My mom was hit in her parking lot where she lives by a gentleman that was insured by Toggle which is affiliated with Farmers. The worst experience ever!!!! The accident happened in July and we are still dealing with them. It is impossible to get a hold of anyone. You end up talking to many different people that all give you a different answer. It is basically a run around. It has caused my mom an undue amount of stress. I would not recommend them to anyone and I pray for anyone that is in an accident with one of their clients.
My experience as a customer after just a year had been bad so I canceled all of my policies (home, auto, umbrella). The website was terrible, I had autopay set up for each policy and still got billed and late fees with no attempt by the system to take some payments (while it worked for others). I was forced to set up autopay by my agent (she did the set up), when I started the policies, so why didn't it work? My agent changed without my consent to an agent far from my home when there were agents much closer. So I canceled and ended up being sent to collections for an amount that accrued after the cancellation date. Though I still don't believe I owe anything that accrued after I canceled, the amount was small so, just to get them out of my hair, I paid it...then the collections texts started.
Staff does not get their billing act together. They do not fix issues despite calls over months. Also they doubled the cost of insurance without notifying me by mail. When I did get mail, it did not reflect the actual billing situation on other matters. I've had issues with them with both home insurance as well as car insurance (subsidiaries of farmers)
The kitchen of our house flooded, and we filed a claim with Farmers Insurance. They gave us a thousand excuses and did not cover us at all. And then the claim remained in our records as if they covered everything, After having paid expensive insurance with them for years.Tamara Sult was the adjuster for our case, and she looked for any excuse not to cover the damages, recording it in our records as if they had. This is something that everyone should know before anyone makes a decision and understand this company's practices.
On February 28, 2023, I completed an application for my daughter. On March 17, 2023, Ronald Baker notified me that they couldn’t reach my daughter to schedule an exam. He provided them with my phone number, and I don't answer unknown numbers. Therefore, she didn't complete the exam until March 20, 2023.On April 18, 2023, I emailed Ronald regarding the application status. He left a voicemail message stating that everything had been approved for my daughter and that I needed to call Customer Service to make a payment. I called Customer Service to make an appointment and was informed that her policy hadn't been approved and they couldn't accept my payment. He responded with LOL and that he would contact them. On April 21, 2023, he advised me that my daughter needed to put a wet signature on the HIPAA form. She submitted the form with the wet signature. On May 5, 2023, I emailed Ron to see if he heard any updates. On May 8, 2023, he responded and said he hadn't heard anything and would follow up.On May 9, 2023, he emailed me and said that the Copy Service still hadn't delivered the paperwork, that he was following up with them weekly, and that he was positive that she would be approved, and it is not Farmer's slow-rolling the process. He also added that there was a note for expediency as soon as the paperwork was delivered. On June 13, 2023, Ronald forwarded me an email from Farmer's without explanation. The email stated that she was being declined for coverage due to a history of anemia. They would reconsider opening her policy once a full evaluation was completed and all results were available. After months of this, I wasn't even worth anything but a forwarded email from the agent. When he wanted me to switch my two houses and two cars over, he was a different man.

Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service
Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans.
In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you.
