I switched my car insurance to Farmers…

I switched my car insurance to Farmers and was assigned agent William Bartra, who was rude and smug from the very beginning. I should have taken that as a sign, but against my better judgment, I went with it. What a mistake that was! I was shocked to learn that my registration had been suspended due to this agent's negligence in failing to do his job. When I confronted him about it, he tried to gaslight me by making me believe it was somehow my fault and responsibility. When I informed him that the CA DMV said it was actually his job and responsibility to electronically submit the necessary paperwork to inform them of my switching to Farmers, he didn't seem to care.I was so upset I was literally crying on the phone to this man, trying to explain that I did not know how to rectify the situation, as I have no experience in the car insurance business. I also explained that I was a victim of stalking and had recently been diagnosed with cancer, so mentally and physically, I was not in the right mindset to comprehend how to fix it. He was so insensitive; he didn't want to listen and kept insisting it was my responsibility. He tried to emotionally invalidate my feelings in an attempt to manipulate the situation and avoid taking responsibility for his mistake. Moreover, he was so rude that he let out a loud belch right in the middle of our conversation. I can't even begin to express the absolute disgust I felt.I regret ever having switched and will be canceling my policy with Farmers in April. I will continue to tell all my family and friends about the horrible experience I had with this insurance company. I couldn't even imagine what it would be like to have to file a claim with this company if they can't even handle something as minor as sending proof of insurance to the DMV.

Awful service

Awful service. Representatives seem to be bottom of the barrel quality and their policies are equally atrocious. They are flying under the umbrella of 'Toggle Insurance' and heaven forbid if you need immediate assistance. Not only do you get routed all over the country, none of them seem to give a damn and it can take over an hour to get in contact with anyone. Been with them for years prior to this new company formation and would no longer recommend them to anyone. Most states have insurance commissioners and people should also report their concerns to the insurance commissioner or to the consumer hotline This is the only way for them to know what consumers are experiencing.

I am shocked with the quote Farmers…

I am shocked with the quote Farmers gave me for my homeowners insurance. I get dropped by QBE because their relationship ended w/ 21st century. I have been with 21st Century for over 20 years. I always paid my yearly premium on time and filed no claims. It turns out Farmers bought out 21st Century. So naturally I called them to get a renewal of my homeowners insurance. They quote me $5500.00, absolutely unconscionable. I was paying $1500,00 every year, now they want to jack me up. It's unbelievable. I then called AAA and they gave me a $2200 quote. Farmers is an insane company. I would not ever use them.

Toggle worst auto insurance

Without my knowledge or consent, I was switched to Toggle from 21st Century Insurance in January 2024. Since then, all efforts to change my policy (add/remove a vehicle) online have failed. My new insurance cards don't have a phone number for roadside assistance; that process has to start online. In February, I tried to cancel my policy online twice. Next, I tried canceling via live chat once.Lastly, I tried canceling by phone three times. During the first call, I was told to call back because all lines were busy. The last two calls kept me on hold for over an hour before talking to a representative. Both representatives (weeks apart) told me that there's an IT issue preventing my policy cancellation—an issue that has apparently lasted for weeks. In 50 years of insured driving, I have never had a problem with an insurance company until Toggle. Based on the extreme difficulty I've had trying to get things done with Toggle, I really think that they don't want my business, or they want out of the auto insurance business. Yet they won't cancel my policy. Since the policy was paid in full, this delay (going on a month now) is eating away at my refund, which I had hoped to apply to my new insurance.Toggle provides extremely bad service, and they won't let you leave.

I've faithfully paid Farmer's for several years...

I've faithfully paid Farmer's for homeowner's insurance for several years, never having a claim. Then, they decide to pull out of the State of Florida and dump everyone. I think that says a lot about their company.

No longer blinded

I had been a Farmers customer for years and always loved how personal and great the customer service was, but lately have been struggling with this company. Upon renewal my policy shot up a most ridiculous amount. I missed it the first two times, but later discovered they were charging me $400 more for another driver on my policy! I had not agreed to this, nor knew who this person was. Once I renewed my policy, they agreed to then remove the other driver. With this person and their cost removed my policy was still a couple hundred too much. In conclusion, loyalty gets you nowhere. Every 6 months the cost rises a few hundred dollars more despite filing no claims, no tickets etc. all the while they say it's due to inflation and so many more statewide accidents. Guess their customers will be dishing out another couple hundred more, because I won't be contributing to the pool any longer.

Dropped us because of our Trees

Farmers dropped us due us having TREES growing over our roof. We paid 2K to have the trees trimmed and sent in photos and we were still denied. No trees are in contact with the house whatsoever. We live in an older established neighborhood where probably 85% of the homes have trees over the roof. We have 4 large, healthy pecan trees. They are not dead, rotting, or split. They have provided us with shade (therefore decreasing our energy costs) for the 15 years we have owned our home and NEVER have we had an issue with homeowners insurance before now. We have had different insurance companies over the years. I am so angry with them because we submitted pictures and we were still denied and subsequently dropped from insurance and at this time, we don't have any coverage. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else!

Do not insure your home with Farmers…

Do not insure your home with Farmers Insurance. They will gratefully accept your premium dollars for years, and, then, for no reasonable explanation, cancel your policy without any discussions or negotiations. Their typical sales rep is useless in these matters. Avoid them at all cost!

I respectively seek a clear

I respectively seek a clear and transparent disclosure of your fee structure, should this not be provided, I will be compelled to transfer my entire portfolio into “Easy _beee”. I have found their platform to be more efficient, featuring a more flexible fee structure and offering greater reliability compared to this firm.

Business Details

  • In 1928, two men shared a dream of providing a quality insurance product at a reasonable price. In the decades that followed we’ve grown and adapted to meet the changing needs of Americans. But one constant has remained: We have an unwavering commitment to uphold our founding ideals to provide industry-leading products and first-rate services to the customers we’re privileged to serve.

    Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service
Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans.
In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you.
Today, the companies comprising the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies make up one of the country's largest insurers of vehicles, homes and small businesses and provide a wide range of other insurance and financial services products.
Farmers is proud to serve more than 10 million households with more than 19 million individual policies across all 50 states through the efforts of over 48,000 exclusive and independent agents and nearly 21,000 employees.
The Farmers Exchanges are three reciprocal insurers (Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange) owned by their policyholders, and together with their subsidiaries and affiliates comprise the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Farmers Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries, in their capacity as attorneys-in-fact, provide administrative and management services to the Farmers Exchanges.
