I imagine when most pubs see someone eating Makky D in their beer garden they think "cheeky so and so" or something similar. But tread carefully. We got off a hire boat in Wroxham with 3 hungry kids and 2 dogs today. End of a lovely week's holiday. The kids wanted Makky D but we couldn't take the dogs in. We couldn't find a picnic table so we took our food to the Kings Head. I queued at the bar with two servers and a line that stretched out into the car park. When I eventually got the beers we tucked in. The photo below shows just how enormous the beer garden was and how many empty tables there were. When the staff member asked us to move away from our table to finish our food her attitude reeked of "cheeky so and so's" or actually something a lot worse. I really don't appreciate being spoken to like that. Anyway I took my Big Mac into the car park finished it and then went back to my table and finished the last drink I'll ever have in a Greene King pub. You may have scored a point against Makky D today but at what cost? BTW the couple at the table behind us eating Sainsbury's sarnies without buying a beer were left unmolested.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. We visited the Noble Comb, Shipley. The gammon was raw, we complained, nothing happened. My partner then threw up in the establishment, we complained again, nothing happened. I complained officially via the process, I received a scripted response from their 'customer relations' officer. Safe to say, they will not be receiving any further visits from us!Guest Relations: GS2330458
Went to the flying saucer and had the mixed grill. My husband and I were raving about it, so well cooked often chicken can be dry but every aspect was delicious. The bar person was very polite and friendly. A very positive experience and we will definitely be coming back soon.
The Finery LondonIn June 2023, we booked a part for 200, this was accepted. 2 weeks before we were due to have our event, the booking was cancelled and was explained that the pub had new management and a new license and our booking was cancelled. The said that the previous management accepted the booking and they didn’t know anything about it, so they just cancelled the booking. After a conversation we were forced to change the booked to 100 people as apparently other bookings had been made which they didn’t want to cancel. Ricky who I spoke to was editing our booking and I saw there were actually 2 booking for the day, our booking was at 7:30, the other bookings where at 12pm noon for 12 and 6pm for 2pm. Surely cancelling a table of two for a party of 200 would make more financial sense, and then went on to blame low staff levels. Clearly 200 people was something they staff had no desire to entertain and wanted a quiet evening. The day out our event, the basement bar which we had agreed to be open was closed and when we arrived, the kitchen was shutting down at 6:20pm.The management then started to turn people back when there were less and 100 people and didn’t even left the pub. We couldn’t leave members of our even unable to go in and found alternative venue. The new management team has cost your company a LOT of money both tonight and in the future. A number of well known internet personalities who have a wide reaching audience will also be taking to social media to voice their displeasure at the actions of your staff, as the we’re not being allowed to even entry the premises. We have been going to this pub for events for the last 18 months, we will not come back again. You have lost good patrons who spend a lot of money. Expect more reviews like this
Would gladly leave 0 stars if I could! Never have I ever known a bigger bunch of untrustworthy, back stabbing, money guzzling corporate monkeys in all my life! They will make it sound like an amazing opportunity for you and then they will stab you in the back and screw you over faster than you can blink. Then continue to screw you over again and again with any future possibilities that present themselves so you can not move on and live your life away from the company. Do not trust greene king! Stay far away from them, the further the better. Will never ever step foot into a greene king premises again, not even if my life depended on it.
I contacted Greene King about a visit to one of their inns. Was charged over £15 for two identical drinks which my local Greene King charges less than £11. Same vodka, same beer. Their response was they operate under different umbrellas. I'll definitely be avoiding Greene King inns wherever possible.
We called into The Old Cock in Didsbury, intending to just have a couple of drinks and then going home. We ended up having far more than a couple, and a lovely meal as well! We were made very welcome by the staff and landlady, who all took time to fuss the dogs (and chat to us, obviously!) The beer was excellent and food was up to its usual high standards. All in all, it turned into a a great night!
