The Chase GateVery disappointing meal. Used to be my favourite pub meal but last night for my grandsons birthday not only was not the food up to usual standard but the service was very poor. I don't usually complain but after telling waitress we felt service was poor she didn't even apologise
Food was ok - sirloin steak was average. Mixed grill was tasty but pineapple and egg cooked in same pan so everything was covered in the black steak juice. Vine tomatoes were actually half a tomato. Opted for a mini pud and coffee £4.79 just enough Eton mess 1 scoop of ice cream and topped with a little meringue and a squirt of cream. Went to pay had blue light discount. I fully appreciate that it can’t be used on deals but didn’t consider the mini pud/cofffee a deal! Turns out that it was and they added £1.99 for the coffee so for the scoop of ice cream and a coffee it was £6.78 very disappointing (full pud was £5.45)! So watch out and don’t get caught like we did!
I visited the Freshfield pub a week ago with a friend. We had an appalling lunch!! I complained to Greene King head office, giving details. They responded by email within 24 hrs which was followed up the following day by an apologetic phone call from Sam at the pub itself, offering to repeat the meal at his cost.The repeat meal today, was in fact the total opposite of the first one to the point where it bore no resemblance what so ever to it. It was delicious and faultless!!Well done Greene King for your prompt action to put things right for us......and a big thank you to Sam for passing on our constructive feedback in order to improve things for the customer!
