Waited 55 minutes for food

Waited 55 minutes for food. Obviously understaffed. Asked for shepherds pie. When it came it was overcooked rack of lamb sitting on mashed potato, with some shreds of chopped up lettuce. Managed to eat about half of it. Then the price: £24.95! The meat would have cost about £1.50, so terrible value. I shall avoid all Green King venues in the future.

The staff are courteous

The staff are courteous, attentive and cheerful. The food is very good and real value for money. The beers are good too.Unfortunately the pub itself is tired looking and the toilet facilities are dire.GK needs to support their staff and provide a better environment for them, to do their jobs and to give patrons a more enjoyable surrounding.

Belhaven Best in Cans

The company had removed the widget from Belhaven Best cans, there is now no creamy head, the taste is different as is the colour. Nothing like the draught when previously it was very close. I will not be buying the cans again, whomever was in charge of the change needs sacked. I would say this is one of the worst changes to an established brand I have ever come across other than Guinness’s red Guinness

Discount Card Scam?

Be careful. They advertise drinks at £2.25 then charge £3.49.The £3.49 price does not appear on their menu anywhere, or on their website.Apparently if you use a Blue Light Card they bump the prices up. Very strange.

Allergies not taken seriously

Recently had an allergy incident at a Greene King pub. We had written to them in advance about our allergy describing it as "very serious" and requesting that the food not be served to anyone at our table. We know they received this because they sent a standard disclaimer in return, but the information was not passed on to the serving staff who used the food in question as a garnish! Husband had to make a very quick exit to avoid anaphylaxis / hospitalisation. Wrote to Greene King to suggest they check their procedures but they failed to investigate, instead accusing us of not telling them how serious the allergy was. Given their refusal to take responsibility I no longer feel I can trust this chain.

I would like to feedback how excellent…

I would like to feedback how excellent the Spyglass and Kettle staff are. Having recently moved to the Southbourne area, my family and I have visited here in the week and at weekends for various occasions (drinks, roast, bar snacks, weeknight dinners). All the staff are so coirteous and work so hard and clearly have a great rapport. The landlady is excellent and it is clear this flows down to all members of staff who also speak her praises. The staff are knowledgeable, kind, consisered and testament to British service industries excellence. The kitchen staff work so hard and Sunday roasts have been the most delicious that last four weeks. You will hear many customers commenting this on a Sunday. It is a pleasure to have an amazing pub with AMAZING food nearby.

I Recommend the Drawbridge in Bristol City…

Went to the Drawbridge in Bristol City Centre today, staff were so friendly and helpful. I ordered battered Cod & Chips with Mushy Peas. Came hot, well presented with 1/2 lemon and tartar sauce... it was brilliant. Very tasty and I polished it all off. Can say for certain it was the best Greene King meal I've had for a long time... and I passed my compliments on to the staff. Would well recommend.

Really poor mismanaged pub

We booked a Sunday meal for 2 at the Old. Rooms in Weymouth. Not busy, but hard to get staffs attention when we arrived. We tried to order food, only to find that they had sold out of most of the food on the menu. No roasts or 90% of their signature meals. 3 other couples who came in, just left due to no real alternatives. We ended up with 1 steak and 1 chicken pie which was only warm. ( not acceptable ) Yes they may of been busy earlier in the day but come on, running out of food is really something down to poor management. Yes we could of had mac & cheese or burger or2 other items. We wanted a decent meal and if you advertise sunday roasts etc you should be able to manage to give paying customers the meals you show on your menu.
