Holidog Stole My Money – Beware of Automatic Renewals!

I am extremely disappointed with Holidog. They charged me £57 for an automatic subscription renewal that I never intended to continue. Despite contacting them immediately to request a refund, they refused to help.I haven't used any of their services during this renewal period, yet they still took my money. Their customer service was unhelpful and dismissive, hiding behind their terms and conditions. This is a classic example of a company exploiting automatic renewals to take money from unsuspecting customers.Avoid Holidog at all costs if you don't want to be burnt by their sneaky practices.

A really shocking experience

A really shocking experience. We wanted to try Holidog and paid £57 for a short three month period. We could have had a years subscription for just a little more but chose the shorter albeit expensive option. Little did we know that automatic renewal was set on the account and Holidog took another £57 after 3 months and another £57 after 6 months. When we asked Holidog to review, based on the fact that it must have been obvious that we did not want more than 3 months (as we could have had a monthly subscription for £10 per month), they flatly refused to engage simply referring to T&Cs. It seems that auto renewal is the default position when setting up an account which feels inherently unjustified.

Please do not use Holidog

Please do not use Holidog! My experience of using Holidog has been awful and I have been completely let down. I paid my subscription fee expecting a professional pet sitting service, only to then be let down. I asked for a refund and Holidog will not budge. I am sure there are pet sitters on Holidog that are professional, yet clearly others are time wasters. Also don't expect any help from the Holidog Team.

Avoid this company - Scam

Avoid this company, it is clearly a scam. I signed up to a subscription, as unfortunately that’s the only way of contacting any pet sitters. They try to tie people in by having auto renew on the subscription. Luckily, I remembered before it was due to renew and disabled the feature. However, the company had already charged me for another 3 months, so an extra £57. I then explained to them that I no longer needed the subscription and they were not helpful. I am now raising a dispute through my bank.

Beware of the scam

Beware of the scam, you will pay the subscription fee but out of nowhere a sum of £57 will be taken out of your account shortly after 2 months, they wouldn't refund you the money that they shamefully taken from you by saying that your membership is still active, but the scary thing is that when you log into your account you won't be able to change your membership status and also you won't be allowed to edit or delete your payment/card details.this is unethical and harmful to customers and the families that are scammed out of their cash. I don't know how many people have been affected but I believe the government and justice system most get involved and an investigation most carried out.

IF you get a good sitter ...lucky you

IF - and its a big IF you get a good petsitter then all can be great but..Holidog are dreadful1) their claim of "100% free chat" is false; their autocensure makes true appraisal of a sitter impossible without subscribing2) you may find they autorenew your subscription despite your instruction not to3) The majority of sitters arent available even though the website claims they are free for the dates 4) Others just don't reply 5) there is no screening of sitters for either the honesty of their ad or their lack of response 6) If your sitter cancels - even a few days before your holiday they can't/won't help. So your holiday is wrecked but they dont care - they have their subscription.

Steer clear of this company!

Steer clear of this company!! Have been charged £118 for a dog sitter who had the dog 3 days! I no longer have a dog and they’ve took further monies (£57) out my account! When questioned I was told I had subscribed??? I HAVE NOT subscribed for anything and they’re refusing to refund me!!! AVOID at all costs!!! Con Merchants!! 😡

Diabolical. Nothing short of a scam. They actually told me I engaged a sitter so I’m not entitled to a refund. I did nothing of the kind. I told the sitter that I did not want to meet her after she asked for some money up front!!!! Then when I was actually on the holiday that I was seeking a sitter for they actually had the sheer audacity to take £57 renewal payment. Don’t touch these people with a barge pole. No ethics no consideration and no point!!!!

Unwanted charges despite the one off subscription

I am not rating the pet sitter who was brilliant ***BE AWARE*** holidog had been taking money from my account despite the fact that my initial subscription was for 3 months and the option recurring payment was turn off. I have only noticed because I received a notification from my card provider showing a transaction of 57£ that I did not recognise. I enquired a told me holidog had a recurring debit on my account . If you are using the service for a one off keep an eye as they will keep on taking your money. You will never receive a notification from them about renewal , and you may never find out unless like me your bank notify you. This has been going on for 18 months and unnoticed by me. What a scam and they refuse to refund. The closing of the account is difficult and deleting your card detail is impossible
