Review Time
By the time we were able to download and use their app, the ticked issued was incorrect and we ended up with a parking ticket. I'd call that a scam, frankly. I was annoyed about it but looking at the other reviews here, I think I got off lightly.
There are numerous drivers who used the same parking payment place and all had the same problem of the ticket not displaying the fully typed numberplate. They refuse the appeal even though a ticket is provided and then offer a £20 reduced payment or face the full £100. It is scandalous that it is quite obviously a faulty machine, but they just steal your money.
In August i received a parking charge that was issued on the basis that i did not pay the tariff.I provided evidence (bank statement) that the tariff was paid but Initial refused my appeal, this time stating that they recognise the payment but because the reg number was incorrect making the payment not valid. This is just a money making exercise done by a criminal organisation that must be stopped. You received payment for the correct amount on 14th August. Don't you dare send the debt collector otherwise I will start legal action.Motorists! We need to start a class action against this racket!
Parked at St Michal's Mount overflow carpark. First attempt at using the ticket machine was painful from the get-go. Pressing the keypad to enter my reg lagged so badly that I had to try 3 times. On returning to my car, I found out that the first letter of my numberplate was missing. The glare on what was a very sunny day made it very hard to read the screen. I thought I had pressed the blue button for 3 hours, turns out it hadn't regestered my last press so only paid for 2. No problem I thought, I can just top up before I leave. Thats where the fun really began. We had joined 3 couples aleady standing at one of the six parking meters, all with equally baffling problems. I felt sorry for the elderly couple who were having various problems. Anyway, I thought I'd just top up with a bit extra, just to be safe. Tried to pay £6 for an extra 5 hours. A messege on the ticket machine popped up "SUSPECTED FRAUD". I am on O2. I have been in Cornwall on holiday for a week and had experianced bad or no signal but payment via my phone had always worked up to that point. I tried a number of times to pay but was met with the same messege. I am now sitting at my computer, about to appeal. I even have a screenshot of the screen showing the selected £6 payment and the "SUSPECTED FRAUD" messege. My phone was my only method of payment I had on me at the time. I tried the helpline (0161 503 3848) but was met by a recorded messege that they were experiancing technical difficulties so I was unable to speak to anyone. I also tried the automated payment number (01234 862 178) to pay but again, was met by the same messege. It would be wonderful if we could speak to a person but alas, this is the way everything seems to be going.
Same story here. Paid for 2 hours parking near Holywell beach, returned and left within this time. Paid cash. Binned the ticket when cleaning the car when returned from holiday then got a PCN letter. Notice says I didn't pay. Am appealing but not hopeful. Won't park using Initial parking again. Zero stars.
To our surprise Initial Parking made a new claim that Beacon near Lewes was a fee-paying car park. One of us paid £2 by card and has the bank statement showing that IP had received it. They denied receipt, unjustly obtained the registered keeper's address from DVLA and demanded £100 fine. This might have been a failure to reconcile ANR and bank data, but their persistent denial makes their actions fraudulent. They passed it on Debt Recovery Ltd., who are progressively increasing threats and amount demanded. We battle on!
Terrible money grabbing company. Daughter paid for parking on app but failed to change the reg from her car to mine, a mistake I know. Even though I provided evidence of payment for the space allbeit wrong reg and proof she owned the car and a photo of the 2 cars together on the drive at home they rejected appeal. No offer to pay the £9 we did pay back for her car that never parked though
Is it possible to give zero stars. Paid for parking at St Mary's Church in Betwy-s-Coed. Returned over an hour within the time limit. Did not retain ticket. Now have a fine for £100 and even though my credit card has the parking payment on my account, they won't accept it as proof. Advise all people parking in future to take a photo of their tickets on their windscreen/dashboards and of the area surrounding their car as timed and dated proof for when this fraudulent company issue you a bogus fine. What a scam way to make money. I'll have to pay £60 early settlement but I'm going to request the parking refund via my credit card. Petty but why should they have two lots of my money?
