I backed the Dride 4K dashcam in October 2021 with a promise of January 2022 delivery & nobody recieved anything until July 2023, then it's only half the product as the rear cam is simply not ready & won't be for months. What has arrived 18 months late is SO FAR below the standard of the product that was promised during the Kickstarter funding & Kickstarter don't care at all that they have left 4000 people feeling completely & utterly scammed.Kickstarter need to do more to protect consumers from being ripped off by small companies who clearly lie about everything from timescales to product specs to software abilities & everything in between. Dride are very much at fault here, but Kickstarter have done nothing at all to protect anyone. It's the second time this company have done this as well. Dride need to be removed from Kickstarter & Yossi Neiman banned from putting any companies or products on the platform as they use it to hide from returns & refunds whilst providing products that are absolutely not fit for purpose at all.
Used Kickstarter a few times now and had the odd success. However when projects have turned out to be clear scams don’t expect any help at all from Kickstarter. They do not care about their backers. I’m currently a backer of one project that has been blighted with problems from the start. Nearly every back contacted Kickstarter to help with the project. Kickstarterignored most backers and did not even reply o them (myself included). The few they did reply to involved their usual cop out that projects come with a risk. This is a fair point if the risks are genuine and unforeseeable. However, when projects turn out to be certain scams, or when projects refuse to respond to backers, then Kickstarter should be helping. Especially when they get a cut of the funds. Especially when these projects fall through or are scams, and Kickstarter has already taken its cut of the money. Leaving only backers out of pocket. The last projects I’m waiting on will be my last with kickstater as it cannot be trusted to support its customers appropriately.
I would give zero stars if possible. Paid $1,100 for the Conga Mower program with “guaranteed delivery” by the company. Deliveries were starting in March 2023. It is now August and nothing to show for my money. Emails bounce back from Conga. Kickstarter should be ashamed to allow criminal organizations to steal hard working peoples money. Kickstarter gets it cut and they should be held accountable too. Sign me up for a Class Action Lawsuit!
I backed the Duovox Ultra night vision project. Shipping cost suddenly raised. Shipping would commence in June, it's August now and no product. Comments at the Kickstarter project all the same: total scam. This was my first and last time backing any project. Ever.
So apparently anyone can get on Kickstarter, start a campaign, collect consumers money, not deliver product. Kickstarter take their cut and do nothing about the stolen consumer’s funds for non-delivered goods. I will never use this platform again and will report them to my state’s AG.
Ohhhh WHY didn’t I check TrustPilot Reviews before now about KickStarter❓ Yes I’ve had multiple success with KickStarter campaigns in the past, but I’ve come to realize that KickStarter is a quite a fertile breeding-ground for scammers to collect windfall profits and then disappear into the mist of the internet w/ohaving fulfilled their stated obligations.Kickstarter SERIOUSLY needs a revamping of their platform, so backers can tell the legit product developers from the scam artists. While something similar to how sellers are rated via eBay would suffice, what would be much better is to enable backers Like/Dislike (ie ThumbsUp/ThumbsDown, etc) Project Updates and/or user comments. Then it is simple enough for KickStarter to monitor negative indicators to take necessary actions to enforce their own Terms of Use Policy. As it presently is and has been to date, KickStarter is little more than just a Free-For-All platform where each Project Backer (ie patrons) roll-the-dice and see how things turn out. There is no formal complaint platform, nor monitoring system in place to address such on KickStarter. You, as a Project Backer, are either Lucky or Unlucky...end of story.WORDS TO THE WISE: Treat KickStarter as a true Gambler’s Environment and you’ll probably be satisfied with it. However if you treat it as a true product development resource (with predictable results), and you’ll get burned as scammers make off with millions of dollars from unsuspecting investors.
DON'T PART WITH YOUR MONEY! I have backed several kickstarter projects over recent years and having lost money on a product that is either substandard or non existent I have now learnt from experience that you're better off to wait until concept/idea your investing in has either been completed/produced and endorsed by legitimate feedback. The pounds/ dollars/euros you may save from early backing will be lost on things that are NOT delivered or fulfilled. Kickstarter concept is a great idea but unless it has some sort of accountability to stop scammers and people who should not be allowed to start a business people will continue to be ripped off!
