Kickstarter have become a bunch of scammers. They offer zero protection and actually make these projects look trustworthy to take your money while offering absolutely nothing in return. They clearly have no interest in vetting all the dodgy projects they back. Why would they? They still get their cut even if the backers are left with nothing but debts.
Yet another platform for unscrupulous business people to con and mislead people into pledging money on unsound untrue products just to pay the salaries. Do Not Trust this company in any way shape or form. As long as the company take monies from founders it’s lying to the world
PAID FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE ARRIVED LAST YEAR. NO SIGN THAT IT IS EVER GOING TO ARRIVE. NO WAY TO GET A REFUND. ABSOLUTE CHARLATANS. TRIED TO GET A REFUND THROUGH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY WHO SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AS KICKSTARTER DON'T ACTUALLY GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL EVER RECIEVE YOUR PRODUCT.BY THE WAY DO NOT RELY ON YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY TO SORT IT OUT. I PAID WITH AMERICAN EXPRESS. THEY SAID THAT THE TERMS OF THE CONTRACT MEANT THAT THERE WAS NO WAY THEY COULD GET ME A REFUND AND IF THE ITEM NEVER ARRIVES (WHICH IT STILL HASN'T) THEN THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME. THE TERMS ALSO PUT IT OUTSIDE OF THE DISTANCE SELLING LAWS IN THE UK, SO YOU HAVE NO RECOURSE THAT WAY EITHER. IT REALLY IS A SCAMMERS PARADISE.UPDATE: Still no sign of it - been well over a year now. Despite them being "fully funded" and taking my money.
I totally agree with other comments. Kickstarter is actively facilitating scammers and then does nothing to remedy the issue. They take zero responsibility and do not cooperate at all. I am one of the 2,054 backers who were scammed by PolySmoother and kickstarter has done nothing to intervene.
Kickstarter Terms & Conditions for creators are really high-risk,because Kickstarter's lawyers give themselves an irrevocable global licence to exploit any ideas uploaded, even if funding goals aren't achieved. They suggest that in general this is only for marketing Kickstarter itself, but there's a legal hole in the implied 'on occasion,though, we might do something else...' I think creators post a project at high risk.
Just a scam company hosting scam products.How they get away with it is nothing short of baffling.If the project doesn't deliver the product as promised Kickstarter turn a blind eye and don't want to help.Perhaps if they did a better job of identifying people, credit scores and some sort of collateral they could stop things like this happening.Ruined the whole idea for startups who are actually genuine!!
Got scam too many times….fake projects stealing people money. Kickstarter do nothing against it. They didn’t even remove the fake projects… that way kickstarter encourage scammer to steal money and they even make money on scammer. For them It is a joke.
If I can give 0 star I would. Kickstarter does not care about the backers. I’ve backed so many campaign in their platform that didn’t produce anything but heartache or shall I say I’m left with no product. I’ve complained with Kickstarter so many times and they don’t do anything. I think they get a cut from the campaigner sky keep quiet when they don’t deliver.
Twice I’ve backed projects over £350 and twice I’ve received absolutely nothing, not even an explanation as to what’s happened, in fact the only thing I have to remember the experience is £750 missing from my account. Kickstarter as a platform is truly woeful and I genuinely believe they’re in on the scams, they hold no accountability and if you contact them they’ll do absolutely nothing. The sooner this ‘business’ goes under the better! In the meantime I’m going to set up my own fake project to get my money back as I know Kickstarter will do absolutely nothing about it. 1 star is actually a compliment to these oxygen thieves.
