Review Time
like all company's there's good and bad , depending on departments plumbers are great handymans sweet and on checking them out I found that they are based in England but has US ties and they operate all over England and Scotland .
I had a good experience this time. I live in a Council house and since moving in a year ago I always felt the gas heating was a bit quirky, it comes on and goes off and there is a smell of gas, though that could be the next door neighbour.Someone came and tested it and all was apparently fine.Same guy came back the next year and insisted on cranking up my boiler to a much higher temperature than I usually have it on, waste my gas, water and even electricity, I was not impressed. Then he cited me because I could not find the remote which I have not needed since it is summer, but I pointed out the intermittent red light which comes on and goes off on the device?I generally don't use heating during summer. He put in for a replacement after he left and I found the remote...F21 error on the boiler started after he left, reset worked ish off and on.Still not really using the boiler at the time as it is only used for central heating and to give hot water in the kitchen. As Mears were coming out to replace the remote I got the engineer to check the F21 error at the same time, grateful that the engineer was able to fit this in while he was here.He did various tinkering with the boiler and got it to work again, out the door and within 10 minutes it had stopped working again. Fortunately he was still in the car park, so I got him to come back, he was very nice, fiddled around again and 15 min later he got it working again.Ofc when he left it stopped working again. So had to book another appointment and he came out again, tested everything, replaced, pretty much every part except one and it started working again, until it stopped again. He then told me they needed to order a part, offered me 2 fan heaters to tide me over. Thinking that it would only be a day or two for the part to arrive, I declined the fan heaters...It took 2 weeks for the part to arrive and book a new appointment, bitterly cold and regretted not taking the fan heater option. He completed the job and heating worked, it has been such a relief to have heating over the rest of the cold nights through November into January 2025, so I am really grateful to this engineer for sticking with it and making sure the boiler got properly fixed. While I found the gas safety inspector a right pain and a bit abrupt and lacking in social skills, the engineer was great and I have to accept that if the gas safety inspector hadn't run the boiler at high temperature I never would have known that there was a problem until it was too late.
I can't find the words to describe the horror of this company. They are really scamming people. All the people are complaining about the poor condition of the building. The building is like a freezer in the winter. All the walls leak water in the winter due to high humidity, and the ceiling as well. In addition to mold throughout the entire apartment, the water is very weak and the windows are broken. There are cracks around it as well, and the company is violating the law. If you report maintenance for repair, they do not send official appointments. They just come and knock on the door randomly without warning in advance that they will come for repair. Unfortunately, we have suffered a lot. My young children and I left in January last year, and we are still suffering because of Poor housing condition.
They send out labours and don't tell them what the job is they are meant to do and sending out a electrician to do a plumbers job what a bunch of useless cowboys and thurrock council are hiring these cowboys to do a cowboy job only to get a professional to fix their mess.... Don't allow this company to do any work as you will regret it.....
If you’re looking for work at Mears….. don’t. Everyone b*tching about each other behind backs. Constant moaning. Awful people to work with. You get the one good egg, but majority are people I wouldn’t dare cross paths with outside of work. Left after a month and a bit. Would rather have no job than work for that company.
After cleaning my windows, approximately 20 minutes thereafter I had an almost heart attack moment when the pane of glass fell into the living room. Thank heavens it didn't fall outwardly as I live on the 2nd floor. I called my housing associations emergency repairs number and was greeted by someone who addressed themselves and asked what the issue was. After a few minutes I was told that an emergency repairs would be sent within 24 hours but hopefully that evening. After about two and a half hours the employee arrived and asked what happened, I told I had cleaned my windows and that it had fallen out of its own accord and he proceeded to pick up the glass and place it back onto the frame as it was. I argued that it wouldn't be safe but he disagreed and carried on. I was shocked that this was happening and so told him I needed him to make that statement on video if it was true. He then became insulting, accusing me of taking the glass out and refusing to work if I recorded him. I continued filming and he said that he was leaving because of the filming. He called his boss saying that he wouldn't be filmed and not responding to any of my questions. I'm almost glad that he didn't continue the work as this would be 100% unsafe and could have fallen out again. I was then told that they had sent a carpenter out when talking to their customer services. This was the Peterborough branch of Mears. Absolute cowboy worker and I wasn't impressed by the customer care either. They just don't care about their customers, only in getting paid for cheap and poor labour.0/5Day 2: After calling the social housing office to explain my situation and having an emergency window repair arranged I was told that someone would be around to resolve the issue today but any time up to 18:30. At 20:00 (the time I am editing this review) there is no sign of them and no courtesy call to explain. I'm annoyed but in no way surprised.-1/5Day 9 - Still no sign of anyone coming to repair. It seems that I shall have to take this to the housing ombudsman. Despicable organisation.-9/5
They are terrible, bullies refused to hand landlords their property back, refused to pay fair rent to the landlords. Lie about repairs. The condition of the property are terrible. Complaints don't get handed at all. Just a bunch of people lying to landlords and tenant.
This is absolutely pathetic. My drains and toilets were ALL blocked. I waited in all day for mears after ringing up at 1pm and getting told 4 hours. Rang up at 9PM after being told that ALL of the engineers are busy and that they would be out by 9pm. Still not been out the next day! Bathroom is flooded as my toilet pipes are blocked solid. My garden is also covered in sewerage. No wonder why reviews aren't responded to and you just keep on saying please be patient. It's not a hard job. Milton Keynes Council need to choose someone else to deal with things for them! Mears are absolutely awful. Better off getting your own people in.
This will be the 3rd time that they've been a no show in spite of a text saying they would be here yesterday tried to call non stop engaged tried to call HA number 22 in the queue ..fed up - its a fence that came down in high winds and it came down because it was bodged last time its a public right of way so I'm getting shouted at and worse by neighbours because they cannot get through. plus people just walking in to my garden and taking things -told HA all this they said how terrible it is blah blah and this is where it ends. No one cares.
