Review Time
If your okay with waiting for 3-4 weks for a response to service ticket issues, then Paycor just might be for you! Calling is no better. They have a tendency to play "not my job" and transfer you to various departments that also can't address the issue. There is a total lak of urgency and accountability when it comes to supporting customer needs. You would think that a platform built on supporting business operations would have an acceptable turn around time for support needs but...NOPE! You are truly on your own. Can't say that we will be here much longer.
I attempted to sign up for paycore/paychex about 2-3 weeks ago. I had a very poor experience with the onboarding process. It was far too complicated and time consuming. Paycore/Paychex decided it was better to make the customer do that. Why pay someone to do paycore's services when they can just get a potential customer to do it for them, right? When I called in with questions and asked for assistance, I was told ON THE PHONE to use the AI chat box on their website.....Yea, thanks for the help
This company will bs you to get you. they are useless, lazy and liars. Takes quite a while to resolve a problem. It's worse than ADP and ADP was so bad because they outsource help, they have screwed my company several times so bad. They say employees cannot get any assistance from them, the company admin has to call for the employee for any assistance with the app. ADP had a special line for employees, but paycor wants to inconvenience their client so much by having them be the middle man as if they have nothing else to do, even with so many employees. They say privacy, but i say bs!! It's just about app issues, not getting into the company account. It can take weeks before anything is fixed, especially wanting me to be the monkey in the middle and the employee doesn't work in the office. During the implementation, the hiring dates were wrong as well as birthdates for all employees. They said they can't correct it because it wasn't the wages, so I had to correct each employee's info. They are worse than ADP and I didn't think I'd say that. They will pretty much tell you it's your problem, fix it yourself. It's not important to them. I refuse to download their crap app anyways. I'm so pissed, but nothing else I can do. Company has a contract with this horrific, rotten useless company.
Type of Complaint: Payroll Processing / Banking / Software ReliabilityI am submitting this complaint for transparency and documentation purposes, so other businesses can make an informed decision before onboarding with Paycor. From the start of our relationship, we experienced a high volume of issues, many of which were basic and easily avoidable. While some individual items have since been addressed, the sheer number and frequency of problems created ongoing operational strain and ultimately led to significant frustration.Payroll & Employee Data ErrorsDuring the initial transition from our prior payroll system, employee information was transferred incorrectly. In some cases, employees received pay changes that were not authorized by the company. These errors required internal corrections and should not occur in a payroll platform.Banking & 401(k) Handling IssuesPaycor’s parent company, Paychex, manages our 401(k). Our account includes three separate EINs, each with its own group ID and bank account. Despite this structure, contributions were pulled from the wrong bank accounts, mixing funds between entities. This is a fundamental control issue and required repeated follow-up to resolve.Support ExperienceCustomer support has been inconsistent and often ineffective. Problems frequently required multiple contacts, re-explanations, and escalation to achieve resolution. The burden of troubleshooting often fell back on our internal team.Software & Onboarding LimitationsEmployee self-setup regularly failed, particularly on mobile devices. In many cases, employees were unable to complete onboarding without forwarding setup links to office staff for manual completion. This defeats the purpose of a self-service payroll platform.Payroll Delivery & Communication IssuesPhysical paychecks were mailed via ground shipping, resulting in employees being paid nearly a week late. While additional fees for mailing checks were disclosed, it was not clearly communicated that delivery would take 5–7 days after payroll processing, which is an unreasonable delay for payroll services.Additional ContextI want to be transparent that my patience has worn thin at times—not due to any single issue, but because of the cumulative effect of so many problems, including several that should have been preventable with proper setup and controls. While Paycor may state that certain items were eventually resolved, the volume and repetition of issues are the core concern.Several of these problems—particularly unauthorized payroll changes and incorrect bank account withdrawals across multiple EINs—should not occur in a system responsible for payroll and retirement administration.Purpose of This ComplaintNo further action is requested. The intent of this complaint is to document our experience and ensure other businesses are aware of the challenges we faced before committing to the platform.
So frustrated that I have to give Paycor even one star. I have more complaints than I can name here, but to list a few, they charged us monthly for our seasonal business even when we were closed. You CANNOT speak to a manager when you have an issue. Customer Service tells you they will let management know your issue and if they deem it “necessary”, they will call you back. The manager, Tyler Brandon, did not deem our issue worth a call back. I am so relieved to never have to deal with this company again and I STRONGLY recommend others not deal with them either. Do not walk… RUN to a different payroll company.
I’ve had an extremely disappointing experience with Paycor. Urgent payroll issues routinely take weeks to resolve, which is unacceptable when employees’ pay is on the line. Customer service is consistently poor, with long wait times just to speak to someone, and there are no dedicated account representatives to provide continuity or accountability. The onboarding process was inadequate, and the system was not set up correctly from the start. Once contracts are signed, support drops off significantly, leaving you to troubleshoot complex payroll and HR issues on your own. The platform is also not as robust as advertised. We were repeatedly told certain functions were possible, only to find out later that the system cannot actually support them. What is most frustrating is that when contacting support, it often feels like I understand the system better than the representatives assisting me. Any request, even basic ones, requires hours of follow ups, explanations, and escalations, and many issues still remain unresolved. If you choose Paycor, be prepared to spend at least five hours trying to fix problems that should be straightforward, with no guarantee they will be resolved. I would not recommend Paycor to any organization that values reliability, responsiveness, or accurate payroll processing.
