On my first day I was hesitant to join as I work Bournemouth and living in Portsmouth. One member of staff by the names of Phoebe talked me through all the activities, and packages and also helped registered me and made the process very short and easy.
Blackwater Leisure Centre has great facilities, friendly and helpful staff. However, If you're doing lane swimming watch out for the middle lane champions who will have a tantrum if you impede their VERY SERIOUS TRAINING 🙄 if they were any good they'd be in the fast lane
Unfortunately the sports hall is being taken away without any thought for the people who have used the facilities since it opened many years ago. There is no where else anyone who play as a club can go in the area as all the schools who have halls are only available during evenings that’s if they are available at all ….WE AS A BADMINTON GROUP OF 20+ PLAYERS HAVEN’T A HOPE IN HELL OF FINDING ANYWHERE TO PLAY DURING THE DAY.IT’S AFFECTING EVERYONE’S MENTAL HEALTH VERY VERY BADLY…..IT’S A TERRIBLE DECISION ON THE PART OF PLACES LEISURE
Re Eclipse Spelthorne / The centre mgmt do NOT care about their members. I have made several repeated attempts (phone call / email / QR form / in person chats…..to speak to managememt about the constant cancellation of aqua classes for periods of 3+ weeks. The main pool remains open, swim club still happens but aqua classes get cancelled. Not one single mgr has called /emailed me back to address my concerns . I paid for my membership in full for the year specifically to attend PM aqua classes. Also noting the brand new sauna /health suite area is disgusting. It is never cleaned properly (pools of stagnant dirty water inside snd outside the sauna, large amounts of human hair building up in corners - yes i photos ) and staff have even admitted to me that it goes frequently without cleaning because they are busy, and even used the excuse they had kids parties to attend to. Also who designed the sauna door opening straight up and into the health suite exit door? It’s a joke. I havw also witnessed several members of Staff walking INTO the sauna and onto the benches with their shoes on. It’s disgusting. So i would NOT recommend getting a membership here of you are wanting to use this gym for those reasons. Especially if you are working and want to attend PM aqua classes. Note… there is not a single aqua class on the weekend. Even though aqua classes are constantly over subscribed during the week.
Very rough start to using the gym at Berwick. Its meant to be a premium experience at a premium price. That's not what I experienced. No introduction into how the gym works, gym induction didn't go well and staff don't seem to be empowered to either help or make decisions. Showers not kept clean (I noted that a dirty plaster was left in the men's showers for several weeks). Wrist band failed after 2 weeks.....list could go on.
I signed up, intending to try out for a month, when I cancelled I had a few days before my membership renewed, I was very annoyed to find out that the next months payment was still going to be taken even though I wanted to cancel. I also disclosed to staff when I cancelled that it was due to a group of men leering at me and saying creepy things as I had walked in that day - and the staff member (a man) was less than considerate of the challenges and how unsafe that made me feel. Very frustrated that now I’ve had to pay for another month despite never wanting to go back there. The gym is also very small and cramped, the pool was always cold, so was the hot tub, I mainly went to classes but the mats they provide stink of sweat I don’t think they’re ever cleaned, the yoga classes were nice but they would let too many people book for the size of the room so it was always cramped, it’s also very popular so you’re often to able to book it, the classes I liked were often fully booked and that was the main reason I signed up so just felt like a waste some weeks. I also think it’s crazy that even if you miss just one session you get charged, I think there should be a different system for this. I was on the lowest membership as a student at £25 which I think it’s too expensive for what you get, let alone the other subscription amounts!! EDIT: I just spoke to a lovely member of staff who was very validating and supportive about how uncomfortable the creepy men made me feel so I have increased my review to 2 stars, however I do think there are things this gym can improve on
I am a vulnerable disabled woman who has experienced nothing less than incompetent customer service. I was overcharged by a large amount of money for a disabled gym membership. The manager I saw promised a full refund and I’ve just found out only a small partial refund has been put through which I still have not received. It seems to me that they are capitalising on disabled customers money and earning interest whilst I am out of pocket. This is unacceptable. They need to up their game when it comes to communication and customer services. I will never deal with them again.
