Horrible company policy for customer care. We booked through rentalcars.com and we we were refused a car at pick-up because I didn't have my license for long enough. To be fair, this requirement was mentioned in the fine print, I just wish it was made more clear. In any case, the rental company was Hertz and they said they would refund the rental amount if it was up to them, but they couldn't because we booked through a third party. When contacting rentalcars.com, they refused to refund, even if the rental company itself would agree. So that is not good customer experience. They said it was their policy, which is fine, but it's not a good policy for customers. I thought rentalcars.com was supposed to make things easier for customers, but I'm afraid I was wrong. Next time, I won't rent a car through rentalcars.com, I will rent through the rental companies directly as they provide better customer care.
Reported a duplicate charge in July 2025. Provided all documents immediately.
It’s now February 2026. Still no refund. Still no clear update.
Every reply comes from a different agent. No accountability. No ownership. Just apologies and delays.

We waited an hour to collect the vehicle at the airport from the representative. Although we had reserved an SUV with a manual transmission, we received a Renault sedan with an automatic gearbox instead. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, we were informed that cancellation was an option. Additionally, the fuel tank was nearly empty, yet we were told, "it's fine, you can return it empty as well." This experience was unlike anything I've encountered before. I strongly advise against using this service!
The rental service failed to provide me with my reserved vehicle due to technical issues. I was advised to reach out to the booking platform for driver changes, but they informed me that they couldn't assist because my reservation was marked as 'complete' due to my late arrival by an hour. This lack of support and inability to accommodate changes meant I ended up without a vehicle, and they stated I wouldn't receive a refund, labeling it as a cancellation fee. It's baffling that a rental service would finalize an order when the renter arrives just an hour late. They offer no support and simply keep your money. There was no credit or alternative offered. Ultimately, I missed out on my car and had to rebook for the following day, losing a day of my vacation and incurring higher costs for a last-minute holiday booking. For the record, I always reserve my car an hour before my flight to account for any potential delays.

The shuttle took 30 minutes to arrive, leaving us very cold by the time it finally showed up and transported us to the external rental location. Once we arrived, we discovered we needed to change drivers, which was not an option since we hadn't booked directly with the rental service. Ultimately, we had no choice but to make a new booking at a higher price without any chance of a refund, resulting in us paying three times more for the same vehicle we initially reserved. This was the worst rental experience I've ever had.

However, seven months later, I still haven't received any email confirmation or voucher. This has prevented me from changing or canceling my booking online. The most absurd part was that they blocked a substantial amount on my credit card, which was more than I had ever encountered in over two decades of renting cars. The overall rental system appears truly misleading, and I suspect regulatory bodies may take action against it. After wasting significant time, I opted for a taxi to continue my vacation. Consequently, I am requesting a full refund of the amount paid and strongly suggest a review of your rental policies and partnerships.
I had a decent experience and found it affordable. It’s surprising to see so much negativity online. Just a few decades ago, the idea of renting a car at such low prices would have amazed people. Sure, it’s not perfect, but booking was straightforward, and customer service was available, even if not top-notch. I would rate it a 4, but I'm giving it a 5 to balance out the low ratings.
