MOT booked but car developed ominous "rattle" beforehand. Told Setyres, they suggested to do the MOT regardless and take things from there. The car failed due to a broken front spring, and 2 advisories regarding some mechanical wear and corrosion. They quoted for necessary repairs, all fine told them to go ahead. They then called back and said that I also needed replacement front tyres as they were both "bald" on the inside edges. Not that I had noticed - but ok got them as well. MOT passed. When I picked up the car I asked the manager why the "bald" tyres hadn't been noted on the failed MOT. I was then given a lecture about his opinion of the inadequacies of MOT tests and told that a car can pass an MOT even with illegal tyre wear. I don't know about that, but I would have expected an MOT garage, specializing in tyres, should have noticed two bald tyres and noted them as fails/advisories. I think the truth is that they simply made a mistake but weren't straight enough to admit it. I didn't appreciate the lecture and won't be going there again.
I've had to visit setyres (Tunbridge Wells) a few times now and have always had a very positive experience. Most recently, they kindly offered (which I accepted) to drop me off 2 miles away so I could collect my son from school. It was only my MOT so I was hardly a high value customer but they were more than happy to help!
Had an MOT booked at Setyres HAILSHAM in East Sussex in October 2023, Mot was aborted apparently by the tester he told me that I had Diesrl leaking from the offside rear (VW Transporter) I had a look whilst on Setyres ramp and could see a green fluid dripping from said area. I argued the fact with the tester that the fluid leaking was most certainly not diesel to which the arrogant and rude tester continued to tell me that it was diesel. I collected my key and left the premises only to get a short distance to find that I had no brakes (Warning light on dash now flashing and audible bleeping constantly) I drove the van to them with fully operational brakes and no warning signs/sounds. Had it inspected elsewhere to find that one of the rear brake pipes had been crushed!!!!! Was absolutely fine on dropping the van to Setyres. I wrote a letter of complaint to Setyres Head Office dated 19.10.2023 explaining the ordeal and to date have not received any response from Setyres!!!!!!!Arrogant and incompetent Mot tester clearly does not know the difference between diesel and brake fluid, in my opinion Setyres “stick to fitting tyres only” absolute disgrace AVOID Hailsham branch at all costs!!!!!
Got a problem with my car the battery was draining overnight so phoned garage explaining the fault they said bring it in So did so and told them once again something was draining my battery they said leave it with us .After a considerable walk home got a phone call saying something is draining your battery and we can't do anything about it. So another considerable walk to pick the car up again.You couldn't make this up why did they except a job they couldn't do.
I went to the Sevenoaks branch this morning to buy 5 tyres for my land rover and wanted to ask a member of staff if this was possible on a Saturday morning. I approached the fitter,who was very busy smoking a cigarette beside the tyre fitting machine,to ask a question and he immediately interrupted me,saying,”go into the office”. I started to ask again,to be interrupted again with “ask in the office. His attitude was so rude that I left before I did something that we would possibly both have regretted. Needless to say,I didn’t buy the five tyres I needed and will never attempt to deal with this firm again.This person was the oldest fitter there,quite short, smoked roll-ups,small moustache,big attitude.clearly didn’t want to be working and cost Setyres about £700 in lost sales.incidentally, I was surprised that Setyres allowed smoking inside the premises.
