Absolutely worst company I have ever had the distinct displeasure of dealing with. Shortly after placing a request to sell my GE shares some idiot with this company decided, on their own, to code me as deceased in their database. Since October 2024, I’ve spoken with online reps, in you know where, and have not been able to get straight answers from them on why my accounts are restricted. After finally feeling I was making progress with the escalation specialist, I received a letter with instructions on how my accounts could be transferred because I was deceased. I’m at my wits end and have a funny feeling that the scam artists in charge of this company based in St Paul, MN are trying to steal my funds in excess of $100,000. I’m seriously considering flying to their headquarters in St Paul to get my accounts back under my control. Based on the horror stories I’m reading from the other reviews, this would probably make a nice class action lawsuit for some aspiring lawyer or perhaps states attorney general. This is fraud and felony theft and at best case total financial and management incompetence.
The only reason this has 5 Stars is, I want this to be the first comment people see. This is the WORST company ever. Get your money out and run far far away. Their treatment of customers should be criminal, They have "misplaced" 2 of my checks. They are supposed to take 7-10 business days. They sent it March 9th Today it is March 27th (my birthday) Not to get personal, I was in desperate need of this check, rent due, speeding ticket, etc. It's been messing with my well-being. I pray all these "representatives" lose their jobs. If I could find ANYTHING to sue this company for everything I would happily do it.
I am informed that they don't have my Bank Draft cheque, received February 02,2025, registered mail February 0, for the purchase of 5 stock in Bristol Myers Squibb, $315USD.This is fraud by all accounts, Predatory deceitful, ..Untrustworthy brokerage, My refund cheque is in the mail?Donot deal with these people
Dismal, website link to reset account credentials doesn't work. They still send out dollar cheques to shareholders outside of the USA when most banks don't accept them. Trying to get a direct funds transfer set up is a nonsensical paper form filling exercise which should be done electronically via your online account.
Can I give lower than 1 star? I had stock and the transfer agent is Equiniti/Shareowneronline. My sale proceeds check was mailed 12.20.24 I still do not have it (3.11.25). I have called multiple times. I faxed in instructions to recut the check with an overnight label as I was instructed. When I called to confirm they had received it they confirmed and then said it would be 10-15 business days to process the replacement check. IT BEEN 33 BUSINESS DAYS since they received the request. Every time I call I get the runaround. They tell me someone will reach out in x days or 24-48 hours. This has happened at least 4 times and no one calls. I have reached out to the attorney generals office. I will continue to reach out to as many outlets as I can to get this taken care of.
I'll echo nearly everyone else's review... a terrible company. Transferred shares month's ago to a new account, but can't establish access to the new account, but have access to my old account which shows the shares have been zeroed out. I try setting up a new account but the verification codes provided to me. Foreign call center person tells me it's an old number. How can that be when it's the only number I've received? The only option I have is to request a new authentication code, which will take 10 business days? Get real. Find another reliable brokerage, but this isn't it.
I mailed the stock power forms on 2/26/25 for three stocks which my deceased husband owned, to have the stocks changed to my name. I included the stock certificates as instructed and three Medallion stamps. USPS tracking shows that the envelope has not moved since March 5. USPS was not able to locate it. They said that it is possible that Shareowneronline has a delivery service which picks up mail without it being scanned. I have called Shareowneronline about three times and they just say they haven't received it. My next step will be to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I see that NY state residents can go through its Financial Services Consumer Complaint Portal, but I am not a NY resident.
In common with many reviews here, my experience with this company has been dreadful. I sold some stock a month and a half ago and still have not received my money. They could not verify my UK bank account and said they had sent a cheque, 10 days later I said it hadn't arrived and the sent another (again by post) - still nothing. The call centre is terrible, no help at all - the only way to get forms to them is by fax (which doesn't work) or by post - and they call themselves Shareownersonline!!! Please don't use this awful company.
I am a Co-Executor of my deceased mother's estate. My experience trying to re-title shares held by EQ Shareowneronline in the name of the estate with the intention of selling those shares mirror the bad experiences reported by the majority of reviewers on this site. I had filled out the required forms to re-title the account in the name of the estate. The required Medallion Stamp was obtained. The forms, original stock certificate and certificate of administration dated within 90 days of submission were sent in using FedEx overnight delivery with signature requested to confirm delivery. After several weeks had passed without any communication from EQ Shareowneronline, I began the arduous process of contacting the transfer agent by phone. After many calls and hours on hold over several days, I was informed that FedEx had delivered the documents. I was then told that the original stock certificate which I had carefully placed in the FedEx envelope after copying it was missing. All the other documents were received. Now I have to go through the same arduous process again but have to report that "I lost the certificate for ___ shares." when the reality is that Shareowneronline "lost" the original stock certificate. This process of course requires payment of a $75.00 processing fee with the caveat that "There may be additional fees and documents required." This entire process was begun before the severe market decline we are now experiencing and the value of this asset has significantly declined. I am in the process of re-submitting the forms and requesting replacement of the "lost" certificate. I am doubtful that the certificate will be replaced in a timely fashion but am confident that the expense to the estate will not be trivial. In summary, I am very concerned that business practices such as those described above are allowed to continue without any oversight by regulators.
