Do NOT do business with this company

Do NOT do business with this company. Their system is deficient. You can never access your account. The verification process and software does not work. You can try it 20 times and still can't register to access your account. Stay away from this company. Computershare is 5 stars and an excellent option. I regret the day I commenced dealing with them. NEVER again!

Neanderthal process to sell shares!

Recently, I executed a sell order for some shares held by Shareowneronline. A portion of the sale was executed. When I tried to initiate another order to sell the shares that previously didn't sell, the software wouldn't allow me to sell despite the earlier successful partial order execution. I contacted them and was told the selling feature was disabled due to security concerns and I would need to complete a form and secure a Medallion signature stamp. There's already a two-factor authentication process in place so the security "issue" seems bogus at best. Anyway, based on this unsatisfactory experience, I decided to close out my account with them. Let's see how long that takes. If the stock price drops during this process, I will be very interested in joining a class action lawsuit.Update: After mailing the form they required me to complete ten days ago, I followed up today to find out the status of my request to sell all remaining shares and close out my account. I was informed that the shares were sold yesterday and that I could expect a mailed check within ten business days. This was a shock since I specifically noted on the form that I wanted funds transmitted electronically directly to the bank account included on the form. WTF! Talking about security concerns, do they actually think it’s more secure to send a large check by snail mail rather than by electronic transfer? Or do they want interest-free use of my money as long as possible? Ten working days to mail a check? Good grief.

Worst experience ever

Worst experience ever. When trying to get my mom’s Stocks That were left to me after my death. The experience was horrid. Medallion stamps, a letter executorship Dated with the 90 days Even though they had accepted an older one previously. T’s Must be crossed crossed and i’s Must be dotted or they will send the form back. Would be better off having the Stock sent to the state and getting it back from the State.

A company still living in the 1970s

I've never encountered financial services as poor as those provided by this company. A few years ago, my portfolio of shares was transferred from Wells Fargo to Shareowneronline, and ever since, the quality of service has been disappointing. Recently, as I attempted to sell some shares, I found myself abruptly unable to initiate further sales on their website. When I reached out, I received a standard response: "Please accept our apology; changes have been made due to security updates. You can sell your shares, but it must be submitted in writing."It's unclear what changes led to this severe restriction, but by “in writing,” they mean I must print out a PDF form they provided, fill it out, and send it by regular mail—not email, but physical mail. Aside from the days it will take them to receive my letter, they also informed me that "We make best efforts to process a properly completed sale request within 1-5 business days. We cannot guarantee a specific date or price. Requests involving additional transactions may be delayed. Applicable fees and commissions for sales apply."It feels like this company is stuck in the 1980s—or even earlier, as back then many transactions could be handled over the phone. Here, however, they won’t even take orders by phone. This outdated, restrictive process is beyond frustrating.

Incompetence of the highest level

I am a UK widow trying to sell a modest shareholding in a USA company. Despite numerous phone calls, emails and letters, and spending over £500 in obtaining documents EQ Shareowner Services demand, I am no further forward. My problems began on 8th November 2024 when I informed them of the death of my husband and asked for their help in selling his shares. They persist in sending correspondence addressed to my DEAD husband at an address we left years ago.Every time I phone I speak to someone different and am given conflicting advice. Promises to call back are not kept.Unlike in the UK EQ Shareowners wil not do ANYTHING by email, postal services are slow yet EQS put unrealistic time limits on documents. In my 78 years on the planet this is easily the most incompetent, unhelpful and stress generating company I have ever had the misfortune to have dealings with.

This holding service is the worst…

This holding service is the worst financial service imaginable. I transferred money and they froze my account. They have held my money with a restriction. I have contacted them several times with various responses like or similar to this: "The account had a restriction placed on it to ensure good funds were received by EQ for the Voluntary Contribution that was processed on September 10, 2024. The restriction is removed based on our internal procedures." With the account restricted I am unable to transfer money. I have contacted the SEC twice now with no help. I have letters going to the states attorney's in Illinois and Minnesota. DO NOT PUT YOUR MONEY HERE.

Someone needs to report this company to…

Someone needs to report this company to the Feds. This is totally unacceptable. I've sent information in for a stock transfer 3X, and each time they have sent it back with no clear explanation. You can't talk to an English-speaking person (Customer Service is outsourced to India). If anyone has had success getting to upper management, please advise. I need help and they aren't capable.

Third rate garbage company!

Wells Fargo owned, then sold to Equiniti Trust Company, or EQ Shareowner Services, which claims to continue to provide the same services. And EQ is just as useless as Shareowner was. I know about and understand two-step verification but having to enter username, then password, then open email to get verification code, then enter code and get verified only to have to do the whole damned process over again sometimes up to three additional times before FINALLY getting logged in is an idiotic process!EQ so-called support refuses to acknowledge the issue and requested a screen shot, and there is no way in Hell to send it to them!I can only hope that they get the same investigation that Wells Fargo did a few years ago! They are not even worth the one star review, more like negative ten stars!03/20/2025 Performed a Limit Order stock sale set at a certain price. Stock met the price and even though this third rate company had sent me email verification of the order there was no record of the order on my online account, no verification of whether the stock sold, and had to call some third-world "support" center to find out that it had sold, and they refused to send me any verification in writing to my email for my records. If there is any way to avoid this company RUN elsewhere!

'Flakey' and unreliable service.

Customer service doesn't know correct answers to questions asked, about replacement checks for sale of partial shares.Has to keep putting customer on hold, and running around everywhere....while customer is on hold, to get correct answers. Very poor management, very unreliable..and 'flakey.'

I would give this company zero stars if…

I would give this company zero stars if that were an option. I have been trying to negotiate sale of my deceased grandmother's shares for nearly 6 months. submissions have been rejected and returned for a series of reasons that were not mentioned in any prior conversation or instruction, are never fully explained, or are outright incorrect (for example, indicating all estate heirs signatures are required, when actually it was executor's signature). took nearly 2 months to get paperwork returned on first attempt, over a month on second attempt, no representative that I spoke with would email a copy of the cover letter listing reasons for return, documents had expired by the time my initial submission was returned so i had to have them redone, only to have entire packet returned again with a whole new set of requirements. requests to speak with "backoffice", who is blamed for evaluating document submission and delay in returning submission packet, consistently declined. I have 16 months to get estate settled - these folks have taken up six months and I'm nowhere closer to resolving issue than when I started. I am not optimistic this will be resolved competently in the near future if my documents are evaluated by "backoffice" employees that use the terms "estate heirs" and "executors" interchangeably. this whole process, since first submission of April 30, 2024, has been so very frustrating.
