Absolutely horrific experience. It took me years to work up the courage to take lessons as an adult. I spent A LOT of time researching before booking a taster session with swim now. I was assured that they could meet my needs, would go at my pace, and the instructor would be with me, in the pool at all times. On the day of the taster we spent all of 30 seconds discussing my needs and fears before I was asked to get in the pool. The teacher DID NOT get in with me. Before this moment I had never let go of the side of the pool in my life. I was absolutely terrified and completely alone. I should have just left there and then. Eventually, after seeing how frightened I was the teacher said she'd get in the pool. She then left me alone in the pool( no lifeguard) to go and get changed. The lesson only got worse from there, it was obvious we weren't going at my speed, my concerns weren't listened to, and my fear only grew, rather than lessened during the lesson.Swim now have since asked for feedback, which I have given. They have apologised and stated the teacher should have been in the pool with me from the start, and taken the time to go at my pace, however slow that maybe. Whilst I appreciate their apology, and their insistence this won't happen again, the damage is already done. It took me years to work up the confidence to try lessons, and all that was taken away in 20 minutes by a dishonest company, and a teacher who( by the company's own admission) didn't do things correctly. The apology does nothing to undo the damage done. If you are a water phobic or anxious swimmer, do not waste your time and money here. I really wish I hadn't.
I haven’t had much to do with the admin side but my two boys attend every week with Neil in Sheffield. He is absolutely amazing with them. They are 5 and 4 years old. My oldest was really struggling in group settings and was learning absolutely nothing for 18 months they didn’t know how to teach him and how to meet his needs. Neil is amazing with him and they both really like him and look forward to coming every week. It is abit pricey but they have learnt more in 8 weeks than they did in 18 months. Neil is amazing and we really recommend him!
Ching at Reading is a really good instructor. He has a really good way for teaching both my 6 year old son who is effectively having his first experience in a pool and trying to improve my own technique. So he’s having to manage two different people on completely different levels but is doing it very well. My son absolutely loves his lessons and looks forward to every Saturday. I strongly believe it’s worth the money as he would not progress as fast in group lessons.
Ching So has been great with our 7 year old son who has special needs and is very anxious about getting in the pool. Ching is very patient and understanding and always knows how far he can push our son to enable improvement without putting him off.
