Terrible experience with this company

Terrible experience with this company. We booked a car with rentalcar.com and pick Switch car rental. They canceled our booking with 90£ cancellation fees because we had a EU driving licence and they only rent to Uk driving licence. Maybe make it obvious in your term and condition and stop ripping off people!!

They were fab

They were fab , a little delayed in getting car cos they were v busy but kept me informed. Delivered to my door by a v pleasant guy who showed me all the features in this brand new high tech car. Lovely car immaculate throughout. Gave me the emergency numbers should I need them . On returning car v helpful . V pleasant staff all round . They sure seem to understand you may be stressed out of your eyeballs because of the suddeness of needing a hire car and what an absolute pain in the rear organising it . I cant fault them. Got my £50 fuel deposit back in 24 hrs after returning it . Would def use them again . Keep going switch yoyre doing all rhe right things .

I cannot express how helpful John at Switch Bournemouth was with arranging a car for me. I was stressed and upset and not only did he sort everything for me with ease, he was reassuring, approachable and understanding. John made sure I was happy with everything and explained things fully. We need more people like John in life. Thank you Switch Bournemouth

Noel is a great guy, made the rental process very smooth. Also, the van was excellent, ran smoothly, with no issues at all.

Switch Car Rental

Edit 31-Dec: have since been in contact with the Customer Service team at Switch, and would like to amend my review in light of their prompt action in addressing my concern. Thank you Switch Car Rental, Heathrow branch (Sheraton Hotel).Would not recommend. I returned hire car day early, staff at reception took the keys and did not inspect the car or check it in at the time - was left overnight in their car park.Next day see a £220 charge on credit card without any contact from the company and staff said there is a scratch (which was not there when car was returned), they will not do anything about it, and the charge will apply.Poor communication, poor complaint handling (Khrum). Would not recommend.

Unable to book and ghosted by the company

I made a reservation request on a Tuesday because I was unable to directly book and pay at the time, as the website didn't allow me to. Shortly afterward, I received an email stating that my booking was pending confirmation while availability was being checked. After waiting several days with no update, I attempted to contact the company multiple times by phone—none of my calls were answered. I then submitted another contact enquiry, which was completely ignored.On Saturday, after repeatedly calling, someone finally answered. The operator struggled for a considerable amount of time to even locate my booking. Once he did, he offered no explanation or apology for the lack of communication. Most concerning of all, I was informed—only three days before I needed the vehicle—that no car was available, and the company was entirely unwilling to offer any solution or assistance.I suggested collecting a car from a different location, to which the operator admitted there was availability, yet still refused to complete the booking over the phone. I was forced to make a separate booking, which resulted in exactly the same issue. Ultimately, I had no choice but to book with a different company at a significantly higher cost due to the last-minute nature of the reservation—something that would have been entirely avoidable had Switch handled the situation competently.In short, I would strongly discourage anyone from using this company. Customer support is effectively non-existent, communication is unreliable, and the service provided was passive-aggressive, dismissive, and wholly unaccommodating. This experience demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and regard for customers.

Aggressive employees that can’t drive

One of the employees in a small van was in the Macclesfield area on the 18th of December and was severely struggling to park. I was walking my dog and I could see frustration building up on this man’s face. He was struggling to manoeuvre the vehicle so in rage he powered the van forward inches away from running over my dog. Not even acknowledging me or what he had just nearly done. I walk down further the road and as he passes, I try take a picture of the vehicle. He sees me taking a picture and screams out of the window “what are you doing? Taking a picture of me?” I tell him that he just nearly ran my dog over and he snarles and goes “what are you on about?” I proceed to tell him what he has done whilst walking away. He then follows me up the close near my house asking for an explanation again and again. This is unacceptable and very aggressive and intimidating. For a car rental company having employees that can’t drive properly and also aggressively shouting at women whilst almost running over my dog absolutely disgusting. He then says it’s not his fault because it’s an electric vehicle which then I reply that it’s not my problem he can’t drive. He says” I apologise if you think I did that, but i did not.” I recommend that this company find this employee and reconsider whether someone so incapable of representing the company correctly aligns with the values and principles of “switch” it’s shameful and embarrassing that the employees act like this. I do not recommend

Southampton - Avoid at all costs!

Made an online booking via their website to pickup a van on 11th December. Get a phonecall soon after from the branch to say 'oh are you sure you want to rent this it's an electric and will only come with 70% of the charge and I don't have no charger on site.' I said fine no worries. Drove 52 miles to this branch on morning of 11th December to pick this van up, Have never had an issues renting from anywhere. Provided the litany of documents they ask for which is over and above the norm. Provided current calid driving license and UK passport along with proof of address for address on DL and advised I had recently moved but I had proof of address for both my current and previous address. Very rude staff member proceeded to then walk into the back office, could hear some blazay discussion and a laugh. Staff member returned to then tell me sorry no can do as there is question over your address if I get audited I'll be in for it. I said you have my proof of address, x2 official ID's etc,Was then sent away with no discussion and told tough luck. A very unprofessional and poor attitude branch of Switch which doubles up as Thrifty as well at Southampton.
