Outstanding service and fabulous hotel

Outstanding service and fabulous hotelThey looked after us like royalty during ~Valentines w/e where we got engaged at the Ritz After arrival we were upgraded to the fabulous Trafalgar Suite (where Hugh Grant interviews Julia Roberts posing as a Horse and Hounds reporter) then a trip in the Ritz Rolls Royce across the West End Buckingham Palace and Whitehall followed by Hyde Park where we stopped and the proposal was made and accepted. Then back to Hotel for Valentine’s Day Afternoon Tea with a glass of Ritz Rose. Retired to the suite before cocktails in the Rivoli Bar (the Iron Lady is to be recommended) before a fun night out at The Ritz Club *the Hotel’s Casino and Private Club) where we had dinner and played the tables for a few hours before walking away with £60 profit ! Retired to our fabulous suite where the bed had been decorated in heart shaped rose petals. Wonderful breakfast the next day before enjoying the West End and time in our suite. Evening cocktails at The Rivoli Bar again before going to the restaurant for the Saturday Night Dinner/Dance; talk about putting on The Ritz ! What a fabulous experience. The food was world class - John WIlliams easily deserves 2 Michelin Stars for the food. The ambience and atmosphere was outstanding and how enjoyable to listen to a band and watch professional dancers over such great food. We had the showcase Crepe Suzette cooked at our table in a flaming pan ! Retired happy and then another lovely breakfast followed by some chill time in our suite before a civilised midday checkout. Expensive ? Yes but worth every penny and is up there on the bucket list with the Orient Express and we are very lucky enough to have done both

Poor room food, poor service.

Great location. Our transport arrived in London quite early at 6.30am on a Saturday morning. We had a baby and were really tired. We arrived at the hotel sometime after 7am, they did say they would take our bags but I thought they would say can we get you a coffee or something.....nope...We had one meal in the restaurant which was nice. However they couldn’t fit us in for ANY sitting of afternoon tea or dinner. Is it me being old fashioned or am I expecting to much to get food at the hotel I’m actually staying at? They would and did serve dinner in our room. The food was cold and bread was so hard you could literally bang nails with it. We complained and heard.....NOTHING....our baby got a free glass of milk wooo hooo....a whole glass of milk..! (Our baby at this point couldn’t drink cows milk). The view from the room wasn’t great, it was over to the buildings on other side of the road. The room itself was nice, a suite with lots of amenities even a mobile phone to use. We asked for lattes to come up to the room these weren’t hot either and very expensive (comparatively then add a tip and it becomes very expensive for the small cup you get) ....so my wife stayed in the room and ordered a latte and I went to Costa down the road. My Costa was bigger, quicker, hotter and cheaper...just I had to walk to get it...! We got Costas from then. I guess having stayed in other nice hotels we thought this might be similar but it isn’t. We were really surprised at the bad service. No one did anything about our cold food. The staff were always nice but there was never that good service you expect, just that extra thing lacking. I’d expect on checking in someone to say have you come far can we get you a coffee. Or we will see if we can get you an early check in. Especially as it was very quiet. Strangely on check out when it was extremely busy the staff were very chatty to the point of being annoying when stood in a queue...Disappointed.

High class location average level of service

After saving for 2 years to make my wife's 50th memorable I booked a celebration afternoon tea at the Ritz. Yes a lot of money for the experience but it is something she always wanted to do, so as part of her celebrations we did this on her 50th birthday. The Ritz is magnificent inside but packed to the rafters, we got there early and was greeted well and shown to our table. then the room started to fill, there were a lot of tables and a lot of people, which is fair enough, they want to get as much money as they can I guess. The food was good, there were 4 of us and when the sandwiches and cakes arrived, there were enough cakes for 3 but they said they would refill when they were empty, they did not do so but one of our party was not worried so we left it.The pianist struck up "Happy Birthday" and around 15 plus waiters came out with birthday cakes for the gathered guests, my wife got hers about 3 seconds after the Pianist finished playing Happy Birthday. The service was ok, the surroundings magnificent, spoilt by the sheer volume of people in it.Overall, I felt that the service did not reflect the stature of where we were. We have had a far better level of service and interest at local afternoon tea locations for a fraction of the price.A bucket list item ticked off but not one I would repeat, mainly due to the obvious intention of making money rather than providing a higher than normal level of service but more importantly interest in their guests experience.
