Went to the Ritz for afternoon tea it…

Went to the Ritz for afternoon tea it was very magical and me and my mum really enjoyed it, I booked it back in October and then again in November but unfortunately because of the Train strike had to cancel both times and I booked it again, 3 time lucky, the 3 time I booked it I cancelled the second one with a lady who took my 3 booking for the end of November ,when I made my first booking the price was £67 and was expecting it to be the same but know it was £102 for each of us this was not explained on the phone call I had with the lady that took my booking,I have emailed the Ritz several times and they are say that they have had a chat with there staff so This doesn't happen again ,not ones have they said we will refund the difference

Wanted to book afternoon tea for eight…

Wanted to book afternoon tea for eight people, the reply was it was a maximum of 6 and if we wanted to book for 8 then it would be two tables and no guarantee we would be sitting next to one another. We was booking for next February 23 so plenty of time for them to organize something but just wasn't interested. I certainly wouldn't recommend their customer service so unhelpful.

Superb weekend here with girlfriend

Superb weekend here with girlfriend. I've stayed many times but as it was her first time I thought we would take in a show and afternoon tea. Amazing suite provided as always. Consierge even remembered me which was unique in itself. They even provided us with a car to take us to the show.

Best of British 🇬🇧

I drove from the Cotswolds to London yesterday to pay my respects as the nation mourns the death of the Queen. By the time I got to Green Park my phone battery had died and I needed to make and important phonecall by the close of play. I was right by The Ritz, so I popped in and spoke to Mark on the Conceirge desk. I explained my situation and asked if he could help me out. Without hesitation he very kindly offered to charge my phone for me, while I went to lay my flowers at Buckingham Palace. I was also grateful that he warned me to zip my bag up because there were pickpockets operating in the crowd down there. This is why I love Londoner's ❤. I was able to take my time with my thoughts walking through Green Park and on my return, I made my phonecall while I enjoyed a lovely cocktail and some nibbles surrounded by the grandeur of The Ritz, before the long drive home #bestofbritish #theritzlondon 🇬🇧

Champagne Tea...Food for thought

Booked a champagne afternoon tea with ease on the website. Rescheduled with ease additionally. Arrived via the side door and was greated by the friendliest of doorman. Our table was by the waiters service area and boarded a walkway which was a shame. It felt a tad like being near a service area in IKEA. The essence of being at the Ritz was missed to some extent. The waiters were very friendly and polite. Our waiter had a very thick accent which made it difficult to understand what was being said above the background noise. I felt a little embarrassed having to ask them to repeat information. Loved the piano playing, thank you Mr Pianist. The selection of sandwiches were plentiful. Our allergen was taken into account. If I'm going to be picky the bread was a tad dry. The scones were warm and tasty and the small cakes were eye catching. We couldn't overly make out the flavour of two of the cakes but that was fine. My friend asked for coffee with oat milk and this arrived. It was lukewarm but drinkable. I asked for a hot skimmed milk and received a hot oat milk. Not something I drink and luckily no allergy. We were offered extra sandwiches, tea and cake. I couldn't tell you if there was an extra charge for this but it's something I'd check if you're watching your pennies or you don't want a surprise bill if theres a charge. There was a sitting after ours and we felt rushed to eat and go if I'm honest. Our waiter brought out a small birthday cake to celebrate our birthdays. Beautiful touch and a wonderful experience so thank you There is a discretionary service charge that wasn't pointed out to us but we paid this. Sadly we were charged £50 for two glasses of champagne, even though we had booked a champagne afternoon tea. The Ritz have said that we drunk the higher price champagne and should have read this. I say, at no point were we told this or directed to the menu. We were offered three types of champagne when asked if we were having a champagne afternoon tea and was not told the champagne we were offered was higher priced. If you're booked for a champagne afternoon sadly my advice would be check that you have been given the champagne for the price you've paid otherwise you may be unknowingly surprised. I wouldn't go back to the Ritz. Aqua Shard would be my go to, great communication, service, food and no surprises.

Greatest coffee out ever!!

I was just passing with my granddaughter and have always wanted to go to the ritz so we popped in for a drink the staff in the door and at the entrance was very polite and helpful made us feel very welcome I was wearing flip flops as was not prepared and never even thought about going in here and was politely asked to change them and they took me to the cloakroom to do this I didn’t mind then I went back to the bar and was seated at a table and bought the menus we only ordered a coffee and cola but was bought some snacks it was perfect the staff were very welcoming and made us feel special and I will definitely be returning it really made my day in London and my granddaughter loved it she would love to spend the night here but unfortunately this is well beyond by wildest dreams but never say never!!

The Ritz is a wonderful hotel....... however

The Ritz is a wonderful hotel and the staff, in the main, are outstanding. The disappointment was regarding EXTRAS added to my bill upon checking in and checking out. Both, without any prior explanation. Whilst checking in I was asked to pay up front for the accommodation which I agreed to do. When I was given my receipt, £300 had been added without telling me. Upon enquiring what it was for, I was told it was for any purchases I may make, i.e. meals, drinks etc.Upon checkout, £90 had been added to the bill which I found out represented a 5% service charge (tip) for the accommodation element of our stay; again without telling me. I am a reasonable person and had these 2 items been explained to me, I would probably have smiled and said ok that's fine. But to simply charge me without my knowledge or consent is unacceptable.

Absolutely brilliant

Absolutely brilliant. Had the 5 course tasting lunch with champagne. The food and service were out of this world. I have never experienced anything like it. The waiters would lay things down in exactly the right position, plate label facing the front. They explained what was in everything with exquisite detail. The food was gorgeous, the blend of flavours was spot on. Not too rich, not too salty or sweet, every mouthful was heaven. I have never experienced this kind of quality. Truly was wonderful
