Once again I upgraded to first class and there were no refreshments offered despite the Transpennine website saying "Elevate your journey and travel with us in First Class . . . . Complimentary drinks, snacks and meals."No announcement by the conductor saying why there wasn't a trolley on the train. Usual poor service by Transpennine and will be reporting them to advertising standards for false advertising as this happens far too often.
Booked 2 tickets on TPE system, 1 with railcard. For the return the TPE computer system gave me 2 with a railcard, which I didn't ask for. But apparently as I didn't check they had made a mistake I then had to buy another ticket at full price to get home. So their system made a "bizarre error" according to TPE WhatsApp and yet their ironically named Customer Service Team tell me it's my fault! I am now in complaints system but not holding my breath. Dreadful company.
Pat was speaking rudely to everyone on the train. getting in peoples faces and shouting like she owned the place. No one wanted her food and she got in the way of everyone with her food trolley. Wont be using again if they are hiring staff like this.
I travelled today from Lockerbie to Edinburgh and back with family. The trains were immaculate on both journeys and outward was only slightly delayed. Sadly though on the return journey, the staff member handling the snacks and drinks trolley ran over my foot (I didn't realise she was there and she didn't say excuse me). I winced snd dhe just said "watch yourself." Seriously! No apology, nothing, just "watch yourself." Oh dear!
Before the issues on this particular journey a thing that our two must used train companies are both guilty of these days TPE and Avanti is that despite booking two seats together for myself and my wife at least 90 percent of the time we are seated across the aisle this happens regardless of route or how far in advance we book.so despite having allocated seats which 9 times out of ten someone is already sitting in anyway , we have to go trawling the train to sit together. This most recent journey left 23 minutes late arrived 29 minutes late, no trolley service at all , wifi not available toilet in our carriage out of order and the whole train stunk I think due to the out of service toilet.I still overall marginally prefer TPE to avanti on our most travelled routes but to be honest if the routes had more competition I would certainly give them a try.
Usually, I find air-conditioning on TPE trains to be adequate, but the 16.26 service from Cleethorpes to Liverpool Lime Street on Tuesday 12 August 2025 was stiflingly hot and, frankly, an ordeal. It was a hot day, but this rail journey (I wasreturning to Sheffield) was the worst part of a day trip to Cleethorpes to escape the heat. Some escape! Please fix this, TPE.
Don't book 1st class not worth it.No hot water for hot drinks , limited cold drinks and very limited breakfast choices.I feel sorry for the attendant to have to tell people.Took a hour and a half for coffee to arrive after a few passengers complained.Their trust pilot 1* @80% tell a story.
On the plus side, I've travelled on Transpennine quite a lot recently; the carriages are really lovely; and the staff have been pleasant. On the minus side, I ordered a ticket through their online system recently and it never came. I had to buy another ticket at the station. When I complained, they asked for a photo of my bank statement. This was perfectly reasonable, as they needed to know that my claim was honest. But, despite the fact that I provided proof of purchase, they are not reimbursing me. I'll stick to Trainline in future - rather than take the risk of using the Transpennine online ticketing system.
