First class experience

I was apprehensive about travelling Transpennine to Bradford from Newcastle but the journey in first class was excellent. We had a good breakfast, were offered snacks and drinks and the train was clean and prompt. This was in the morning, when the service seems to be better (looking at the reviews). Would book again.

Bumpy ride

Wife and I booked a return trip to Glasgow from Liverpool 31st July to 2nd August.The train ran on time, staff were friendly and helpful.The issue we had was with the seats.Whilst there is plenty of legroom, the seats themselves are very uncomfortable for a 4 hr journey.There is little padding on the seat or back. You can feel every jolt as the train goes over the tracks. By the end of the journey, we were left feeling tired not refreshed.Shame really, we paid 135 pounds for our tickets. Spending some of your profits on comfort would go a long way in improving the journey.

Very poor, how can a train be at the station on stating on time to then be suddenly 45 mins late with no explanation other than delayed .

Having a ticket to travel with TPE now completely optional it seems

I am managing to regularly complete entire journeys on the South Route, sometimes from end to end, without having to present a ticket at any point. (I always have one I should clarify)Having a ticket East of Doncaster especially has become optional on TPE services. Particularly with Early morning and evening services on a Saturday.I must say that this is not by any means an isolated occurrence. Particularly on the South Route.Responses from Andrew McClements and Suzanne Catterall just make a long list of excuses and are dismissive of any points raised.With the taxpayer now guaranteeing minimum revenue, there is no need for them to bother with revenue protection any more. Disgraceful.

Paid to take my family on a trip via…

Paid to take my family on a trip via train. I am severely allergic to dogs. I was unaware that dogs were allowed to travel by train and find this highly unhygienic, but that being said, I was absolutely appalled to find that there are no health and safety measures in place to ensure that people with allergies like myself are not seated near pets. I was not asked at any point in the booking process if I had an allergy and I ended up having a severe allergic reaction on my trip as I was seated near one dog on the route out (which was also sat on a seat which is disgusting) and on the return trip was sat next to 2 dogs. I have made a complaint as the staff were really unhelpful on board and refused to help my situation as they were “busy working” and the complaints team were even more unhelpful reciting terms and conditions that “dogs are allowed to travel on board”. They have completely missed the point that my complaint is not centered around the fact that there were dogs on the train, my complaint is that they literally have no health and safety on board to avoid this for people who do have allergies. I find it disgusting as a paying customer, there is no option or willingness for the company to take my health and safety seriously and simply have pet-friendly and non-pet friendly carriages, just like they do with first class and economy when they’re happy to take extra money from people. I would not travel again with this revolting company

Absolute garbage

Absolute garbage. Paid an extra £70 for 1st class tickets from Manchester to York. People were sitting in our seats, no one checking tickets and no refreshment service at all. TPE basically stealing money from people touting 1st class tickets that are coach equivalent at best.

My journey from Glasgow to Manchester went without a hitch train was comfortable. I got my seats I booked coming to Manchester and also got the seats my fiancé had booked on the way back. So I have no complaints a very enjoyable journey 24/07/2025 till the 27/07/25

TPE always fail in the end.

It was all going remarkably well on the train company of last resort - the train was on time, there were no incidents with power-mad staff and there was even some spare seats. I think this was the first time all three standards had been met by TPE in my experience. Then; an hour's delay due to an "operational matter". The absolute shambles that is TPE simply cannot get it right - surely it's time to let the people running LNER have a go at turning this bad joke around? They paid me back my whole fare, how does it make sense to run a business this badly?

First Class

First Class! A total waste of Money. Over £200 extra to travel Glasgow To Liverpool. Fridge not working so no cold drinks. One breakfast between 2 people. One warm can of wine each on a 3 hour journey. Total lack of stock in first class. Toilet left in a disgusting state. This was a 10.13 am journey. Same problems on the return journey. Definitely not worth an extra £200 for a seat. No refund when we complained. Wont book this again!
