Voyage Care has been sold to a business investment firm in Kuwait. My profoundly disabled daughter

Voyage Care has been sold to a business investment firm in Kuwait. My profoundly disabled daughter has lived in one of their homes for about 10 years. I fought long and hard to get her into the local home. Now I need to fight long and hard to get her out ASAP!! I'm shocked at the depletion in her "Care Packge". Carpets have been ripped out and replaced with lino, soft furnishings have been replaced with vinyl, and the food is shocking. Don't entertain this firm!!!!!!

Management Responses Confirm Concerns

Examining the responses from lower management here highlights the issues raised in reviews about the services in Edinburgh. The tone is evidently aggressive, reflecting the negative experiences shared by others. This toxic environment seems to be encouraged by leadership, which ironically validates the complaints of those affected. The treatment of whistleblowers is alarming, and the focus on questioning identities is troubling. Many have faced bullying, leading to serious health issues, which should be considered when questioning the reluctance of individuals to engage with the current management. It's also notable that some managers may not even be familiar with those they disparage. It's important to recognize that not everyone involved in these services is unprofessional; there are dedicated individuals who perform well. Unfortunately, the lack of effective leadership hampers progress. We hope these reviews contribute to future improvements for both staff and clients.

Misunderstandings and Concerns

It seems there's a significant disconnect here. The negative reviews reflect the reality of the situation. There's a lack of understanding regarding staff mental health and illness. I have dedicated over 30 years to supporting vulnerable individuals in this field. I've also heard troubling things about your approach to sick calls. Don't accuse me of neglecting residents; your actions were part of my decision to leave. I have every right to express my opinion here, and I did not initiate any conflict. The real victims are the residents!

Inspection Scores Don't Reflect Reality: A Disheartening Experience

Positive reviews often highlight the high scores from the inspection authority, implying that the concerns of former staff are invalid. Ironically, many of those now dismissed or insulted were present during those inspections and contributed to achieving those scores. It raises the question: how do our experiences suddenly become irrelevant? Using inspection scores as a defense against legitimate concerns does not prove anything. Those scores are merely a snapshot, failing to represent daily behaviors, bullying, intimidation, or the toxic atmosphere staff endured after the inspectors left. Anyone who worked there understands the difference between the inspection day and the rest of the year. It’s disheartening to see individuals use those scores to undermine struggling staff, especially when some of them have previously complained about the bullying, admitted to feeling mistreated, and now defend the very environment they once criticized, all for the sake of loyalty. Awards and numbers cannot erase the experiences of staff, nor do they eliminate the high turnover, constant fear, or the way concerns were dismissed. The workplace can look good on paper while being deeply unhealthy behind the scenes. For anyone considering employment here, know that those of us speaking out were present during those inspections and witnessed what the inspectors never saw. One distressing incident involved a young pregnant staff member being harshly reprimanded over a trivial matter, leading to her humiliation. Sadly, some staff watched it unfold, treating it as entertainment. This reflects how distorted the environment has become—people either adapt to the bullying or join in to stay on the so-called 'safe side.' We refrained from posting reviews when requested, as it felt disingenuous. Those posting glowing reviews are often the same individuals who protect a bully. It’s sad but understandable how such behavior goes unchecked. Reflect on this: is this the conduct of a caring person? By not reporting issues and claiming everything is fine, you contribute to the ongoing abuse. In this workplace, silence is rewarded, and those who speak out are marginalized. Think carefully before joining, and don’t assume that a polished image reflects the reality behind closed doors.

Understanding and Supportive Care

It's individuals like you who disregard the needs of vulnerable adults! Have you ever experienced mental health challenges and sought help from management? I doubt it, so why not keep your opinions to yourself? The organization is exceptional and truly understands mental health, providing the support you need.

Misguided Opinions

You seem to be out of touch. The one-star reviews clearly illustrate the reality. The organization does not adequately support staff mental health or sickness. I genuinely care about vulnerable individuals, which is why I've dedicated over 30 years to this field. Don't accuse me of neglecting residents; your actions contributed to my departure. I have every right to voice my opinion here!

An Excellent Organization to Work For

I have been with this organization for over 2 years, providing support across various services including a particular location where the staff are exceptional. After 20 years with the council, transitioning to full-time here was the best decision I could have made. The support from colleagues and management has been outstanding, especially during my transition. The dedication to training, regular supervision, and commitment to the individuals we support is commendable. Management is always available and responsive to our needs. It saddens me to see former staff targeting the organization, reflecting more on them than the people they criticize. Leadership here is supportive and approachable, offering help to any staff in need.

Positive Work Environment

It's disheartening to see adults resort to posting negative comments online. I have worked here for nearly 7 years and have had the privilege of collaborating with some of the most compassionate individuals. The care provided to those we support is unparalleled, and it's frustrating to witness such misguided attempts to undermine the team due to the actions of a few who lack integrity and empathy. The team works diligently to ensure those we support lead enriching and safe lives, creating a family-like atmosphere. Unfortunately, some individuals, who can be described as heartless, have crossed paths with us. They should reconsider their actions and acknowledge their role in the neglect faced by those they were meant to protect. I am proud to be part of this organization and have formed lasting relationships based on trust and support.
