Review Time
It’s November, and I’m still waiting for a claim I filed back in June. That’s nearly five months with no payout, no updates, no calls — nothing! Their policy says 30 days, yet here I am still waiting.Meanwhile, they have no issue taking my quarterly payments right on time. They take money fast but refuse to pay customers what’s owed.If you read the reviews, you’ll see I’m not alone — this is a pattern. AIG and National Union Fire Insurance keep customers waiting, delay payments, and avoid accountability.I urge everyone having the same issue to report them to your state’s Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR). What they’re doing is unfair and unacceptable.Avoid this company at all costs — they only care about collecting your money, not paying your claims.
AIG - Scammers Lodged a claim for travel insurance supplied all documents then waited another 10days. They requested another statement that I had already sent, another 10 days. Then told me my bank acc no was incorrect pls send it through another 10days (30 days so far). When I lodged a claim with them previously they used “exactly the same tactic re incorrect bank statement”. I only used them as it’s Via Westpac Nz and free on your platinum card. They only paid out “eventually when I started Cc Westpac Credit Card Fraud Team. I will be taking this to the commerce commissioner as it’s not fair play what they are doing. Oh and when they paid out it was in NZ $ not USA $ (which is like half) I went ballistic and informed Westpac to get my funds paid out.
For months, I have been pursuing something fair and simple: reimbursement for medical care I received during my journey on a cruise ship. I trusted the protection offered by AIG when purchasing the insurance, believing that in a moment of legitimate need, there would be support and responsibility. However, what I find is a repetition of demands already met, requests for documents that were duly submitted, and a cycle that seems more focused on stalling than on providing a solution. The amount involved is modest—about 100 euros—and perhaps for that very reason, it warrants deeper reflection. If there is such resistance for a small amount, what would happen in the face of a truly serious situation?I am not writing out of anger, but out of conscience. When a commitment is made to protect lives and offer security, it also carries a moral duty that goes beyond contractual clauses. It is about honor, one's word, and respect for others. My wish is simple: that the company acts with integrity and concludes this process in a fair manner, honoring the commitment made. I hope that the energy driving this situation becomes one of transparency, responsibility, and balance.Case: UC8116411534.
Our trip to Washington DC had to be canceled due to government shutdown which closed majority of major tourist attractions. First they denied because the shutdown was not a valid reason. We submitted documentation of scheduled events then cancellation notifications because the policy language covers cancellation of scheduled event. They denied that cancellation was due to shutdown and not cancelled by actual venue. Policy language did not specify how event was canceled so just a lousy way to escape paying.
Disgusting company I will never buy insurance from AIG thier policy is worthless! They dont pay I just hung up the phone with the claim adjuster after spending time filling out the documentsI had to cancel because 2 Friends out of the group got sick now they asking me to ask my fraind to provide the proof !Its embarrassing to ask ! So I guess i am out of luck !
Very disappointing experience with AIG Travel Insurance. After submitting all required paperwork, I’ve spent months going back and forth with suminimal refund. The amount they approved didn’t even cover one-third of my actual legit expenses. They have not covered for the days my luggages were lost and disturbances. Their policies are misleading, and customer service has been a complete waste of time. They are quick to take your money but slow to honor their promises. I strongly recommend reading reviews carefully before purchasing
They sell their policy like you are covered for any reason, but when you file a claim (mine for a tweaked back injury that I called my dr. For a prescription), they make you get your dr.s statement and their certifications. They try and make it so much time/work that you won't do it. Shame on Expedia for promoting such a poor worthless company!
I tried to take out a travel policy with AIG through the Emirates Airline Website. My money went out of my account but I have had no policy. I have telephoned numerous times. First i was told i couldn't have the policy, so they would arrange a refund. No refund came, so i rang again. They asked if i wanted the policy, so i said yes. No policy came. I rang again and they said they would send it over, no policy came. This went on and on. I still have no policy and no refund. DO NOT USE. If i can't even get the policy through, i very much doubt they would be any good if i ever needed them. Plus they have stole my money.
TOTAL SCAM. Do not buy. We purchased travel insurance for a trip that was scheduled for August, while we were providing in home care for an elderly relative. The relative died ON THE DAY the trip was scheduled for, and even with the excessive documentation they requested, the denied the claim because we cancelled it 2 days before the date of the trip (when we knew my relative was about to die).We filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, FTC. We are also pursuing legal action due to additional distress created by this company.
Avoid AIG Travel Insurance at All Costs – A Cautionary TaleWe were stranded for five days in Zurich due to a flight disruption from Zurich to Doha, and AIG flatly refused to settle our travel insurance claim. Their justification? They categorized the disruption under the “WAR” clause—an absurd and evasive excuse. I asked them directly: Who declared war? No answer. Just silence and denial.Meanwhile, my friend—who had the same travel insurance coverage through ETIQA—received a reimbursement of RM 3,850 within three weeks. ETIQA rightly recognized the incident as a temporary flight disruption, not a war zone.AIG’s use of the “WAR” clause is a textbook example of how insurers dodge responsibility. It’s not just disappointing—it’s unethical. They twist policy language to avoid payouts, leaving customers stranded and unsupported. In my view, this is white-collar robbery dressed up as corporate policy. Please, do not buy travel insurance from AIG. They do not stand by their customers when it matters most. Their priority is protecting their bottom line—not you.
