AIG is a scam. 100% refund for flight cancellation, not paid. Rescheduled flight left me in DC for 2 days. They paid 60% of hotel bill and partial wages lost. They paid zero meal expense even though that was "covered" in the policy too. A total ripoff.....a total scam. Don't get duped by these crooks.
have always took out this insurance for travel first time i go to use it they constantly have given me a run around had docters statement sent to them , sent a positive covid test to them . they take my phone number in case we get disconnected so they can call me back , and they forget to call me back. they send me emails for more info but when you reply to them there is no reply allowed. so to submit it on the claim it takes them another week to look at it and it is always a different claim agent. dont waste your money on this insurance because that is exactly what you do.
I had a confirmed ticket from London to JFK booked on Orbitz.com which also owns Booking.com and Travelocity.com. When I arrived at LHR the airline said no ticket was present and to call Orbitz. The time it took to reach a live person resulted in my Covid test expiring by 15 minutes. Long story short - I had to pay $1,200 to get home as I had to get a second Covid test, buy a ticket with Portugal TAP Airlines, 2 train tickets, and an Uber to get home. The flight did not even go to JFK which I found after my luggage was taken. The flight went to Portugal then Newark. All of this and AIG Travel covered nothing. I had a confirmed ticket and was simply trying to go home. Orbitz caused the flight interruption and did nothing to resolve it. Yet this travel insurance was worthless.
Our flight was cancelled 13 hours before flight time. Earliest rebook was the following day. AIG would not reimburse for extra day at hotel, lost day of all-inclusive hotel, or anything. Absolutely refused our claim. Feel like we were scammed and wasted our money. Certainly not as advertised. Don't waste you money
Be CAREFUL! They will likely not cover you despite what they claim. I recommend going with another higher rated and better known company. If you buy through expedia, seek alternatives for insurance. AIG will tell you what you want to hear, but when it comes down to making a claim, any gray areas will not be covered. Don't ask them. They will tell you they will cover you for your specific concern, then change their mind when you make a claim. Expedia will usually let you use the purchase amount toward another flight anyway if you're flying within the year.
I booked a flight through Expedia and purchased travel protection. I subsequently received notification that the flight was cancelled by the airline. I rebooked the flight through another airline and requested a refund of the flight and the travel protection. I received the refund for the flight. I have been in a battle with AIG for a refund of the travel insurance. Their claim was that I did not cancel in time. I requested my refund the morning after I found out my flight was cancelled. AIG refuses to refund my policy cost of $49.48. After many calls to AIG and Expedia, I have no resolution. I will contact my bank and attempt to begin the chargeback process.
I had purchased a ticket and insured it with AIG, for a third party. it turned out, the passenger could not fly through the US, because the US doesn't have any transit zones and there was no time for the passenger to obtain a visa due to Covid measurements at US embassy in their home country. After talking to an Expedia representative, I was advised to call the insurer first to seek advise on how to proceed. The insurer's employee told me on the phone to go ahead, cancel the ticket and then file a claim. I was told explicitly that this would be covered by AIG. So, happy with a solution simpler than changing the tickets, i cancelled the ticket and filed my claim.Again: I was instructed by an AIG employee to cancel the flight first, book a new one and then submit the claim.Their response to my claim was immediately in exact opposition to the instructions give by themselves in the first place. This response came from a Claims Adjuster. Since all conversations had been recorded, it should have been simple to verify the facts. My request to do so was answered only with request to submit phone numbers to where i had called. It would have been possible for me to make changes to the ticket. Their employees made that impossible with their instructions to cancel! first and to file a claim after my cancellation On March 1st I received their final decision not to refund by another Claims Adjuster, So, in case one is given the option to buy an travel insurance from AIG, given this experience, i can only advise to decline and save your money.
I lost my flight because Expedia cancelled it, I called to AIG for making a claim, and they never help me, and I spent 28 dollars for nothing. They are incompetents and burglars.I request a refund because in the clauses say that you can claim a compensation if the airline or the travel agency cancel without a reason. They request to me a lot of documents and a lot of stupid things sir don’t pay anything.
