BEWARE: stay turned dangerous

On Aug 1, 2025, an Airbnb host attempted to break into my accommodation, made threats of physical assault, and extorted me. After I barely escaped, I discovered my rental car had been vandalized. I offered Airbnb video, photo, and written evidence documenting these crimes, yet they blatantly refused to connect me with their Trust & Safety team and repeatedly routed me to general customer service, where representatives continuously referred to the crimes as “an inconvenience.” Under duress, Airbnb directed me to book an emergency stay to escape the dangerous host and promised reimbursement for both the emergency stay and transportation costs. Despite providing a screenshot of that promise, they broke this promise and instead told me to use their Resolution Center without clear guidance. That system is designed for hosts to request reimbursement, not guests. Furthermore, Airbnb DELETED THE EVIDENCE of our conversations, however I still have screenshots.Most troubling, Airbnb continues to allow this host to operate, putting other guests at serious risk. The host was even allowed to leave me a retaliatory review with false, baseless accusations, damaging my spotless 12-year history on Airbnb with over 40 trips, all previously 100% positive.I have made complaints to the BBB, but Airbnb is still refusing to acknowlegde their failure to handle this properly, refuses to reimburse me for what they had promised me, or to even ban the host.I have spent over $100,000 with Airbnb since my first booking 12 years ago, but will NEVER trust them again. I literally would rather sleep in my car or on the street than rent from Airbnb ever again.

Quick & Friendly Customer Service

Recently travelled to Toronto and experienced some issues with two different properties whilst out there. Airbnb were extremely quick to deal with our problems and resolved them straight away, which we really appreciated because this could have easily affected our stay if not dealt with, so thanks! ☺️

Charged for Damages we did not do

After our last stay with Air B and B we were billed nearly $200 for damages we did not do. Their dispute center was no help. We were charged for broken dishes we never used or even saw in the house. Scary. Customers should be aware that when you sign your agreement with Air B and B, you are agreeing to follow their dispute decision. In the end, our credit card company could not help us since we signed the Air B and B agreement. Read the agreement. We asked them to delete our account. Hopefully they did. A host can lie and there is nothing you can do. We spent two hours cleaning and shining up the place we stayed in like we always did. Yet the host charged $50 more for cleaning - extra cleaning. The place smelled like dog urine when we arrived. It smelled pretty nice after we cleaned. (We did not bring a dog.) Yet she asked for money to clean it beyond the original cleaning fee. There is no limit (evidently) to what a host can charge in the end after you leave, and there is little you can do. My sister was charged nearly $1000 for damages they did not do. We read many reviews were this same thing happened to others. It all became unsettling to us. Never again. We are happy motel customers now.

Airbnb absolutely sucks

Sick joke! Airbnb on Darcy in Simi Valley with multiple “ units” inside a house they subdivided. The minute you complain they blame the guest, the power company, etc. Apparently, the city doesnt regulate unpermitted property modifications either and Airbnb allows this “ house” to be a busy hotel.

Serious service failure

I am writing to report a serious service failure that occurred during my recent trip to Manchester, concerning a booking made through your platform for the nights of July 11 and 12, 2025 (check-out on July 13), at a total cost of €96.91.Unfortunately, despite the host having a verified profile on Airbnb, they turned out to be unreachable and presumably fraudulent, as we were unable to access the accommodation in any way. I immediately contacted your customer support via chat and phone starting at 3:30 PM on July 11 and remained in contact with several agents for many hours, but no concrete solution or alternative accommodation was provided.Only around 9:00 PM—after more than five hours of waiting—my partner Luca Bozzoli (who was with me) and I realized that no effective support would be offered. We were therefore forced to independently find accommodation for both nights at the last minute, securing two different hotels due to extremely limited availability in Manchester that weekend. The total cost of the two nights was €261 (as shown in the attached booking receipts: £125 for the night of July 11 and €118 for the night of July 12), which is more than double the original booking price.We later received an offer from you consisting of:a 30% discount on the original booking amount;a potential $50 reimbursement for lunch, upon presentation of a receipt.However, this proposal is entirely inadequate in relation to the economic and logistical hardship we experienced:we were left without accommodation for hours in a foreign country, incurred significantly higher costs, and your customer support failed to resolve the issue, forcing us to manage the situation on our own under emergency circumstances after hours of delays.Therefore, I am requesting a full reimbursement for the two hotel nights we were forced to book independently (documentation attached), in light of the serious service failure and Airbnb’s direct responsibility in failing to resolve the issue.I await your response. In the absence of a satisfactory reply, I reserve the right to submit a formal complaint through official channels, including consumer protection organizations and dispute resolution platforms.

Airbnb Customer Service representatives…

Airbnb Customer Service representatives fail to comprehend and communicate effectively in the English language. This lack of communication cost me dearly when the representatives failed to properly cancel the trashy house rental that they supported on their website. In the end out was out big money and they covered their tracks with falsifying cancellation records. Better off at a hotel from now on

AirBnB is a huge SCAM

AirBnB is a huge SCAM! We rented an apartment in Philly for 20 nights advertised as a "Designer Apt" and upon arrival we found out it was a smelly, old and unpdated apartment. We notified the host that we are not staying and left. We booked a modern residence near UPenn for the same price. Our repeated attempts to obtain a refund, including writing letters to their CEO and Board Members, as well as filing complaints with the governmental oversight authorities in PA, CA, and FL, have been met with total silence. They refuse to respond because this could result in a Class-Action lawsuit against the public company. Before you rent an apartment, have the host send you a CURRENT VIDEO TOUR of the apartment. We were ripped off for $5500 and I hope that does not happen to other unsuspecting guests.

I have been a host in the past and made reasonable money for providing good-quality accommodation at a reasonable price. I've not always seen to same quality from other hosts I've stayed at, but overall my experience has been okay.

Deserves O star…

As it is not possible to give 0 i gave 1 star. After they upgraded their app it basically does not work. After contacting several time the helpdesk and receiving the answer that they cannot do anything to help, I realized that they are not really interested in solving the issue that would increase their business.
