Alsa is terrible. I was charged 54 Euros for 2 youth tickets, back and forth, which is considering the distance between Malaga and Granada, a lot. However it is not too bad. The company promised Wifi which they did not have it. But worse was the fact that the AC did not work. Imagine paying 54 EUROS to travel 1 hour 45 minutes in a filled bus without AC when it is 35 degrees outside. I want a refund!
This happened a few years ago but I was just looking once more at buying bus tickets in Spain and got flashbacks to this moment, and felt the urge to share a warning about why I'd rather walk then ever go with Alsa ever again. From Lisbon to Granada overnight, twice I was awoken by the bus going over the rumble strips of the highway and swerving. I sensed the driver was falling asleep, but the co-driver was now awake and talking to the driver, so I felt at ease again. Not sure how much later but we were awoken by the bus crashing, at motorway speeds, into the barrier at the start of the sliproad. Passengers obviously distressed by the amount of screaming going on towards the back.Accidents happen, so what did the crew do to resolve it? They just got off the bus without even looking or saying anything to the passengers, no checks for injuries, and assessed the damage of the bus. They looked like they were attempting to fix the damage, but the bus was clearly beyond repair. We just took it upon ourselves to get out safely.Eventually a backup bus arrived. By now the sun had risen and traffic had picked up. Still no one said anything to us, so again we took it up ourselves to firstly assume the new bus was for us, and to then walk out into the motorway so we could get our luggage from the side of the crashed bus before boarding the new one. The back-up bus didn't even take us to our planned destination, we were dropped off elsewhere and made to wait with no word of how long, for another bus.OK so accidents happen, and crew get flustered. What about the HQ? Nope. No approach hours, days, weeks, months or years later, asking if anyone had been affected, injured, suffering emotional trauma, offering refunds or vouchers. Nada. These days I still find it impossible to sleep on night-buses, the slightest turn has me jolt awake. Walk. hitch-hike, do a one-way car rental. Just avoid Alsa.
Absolutely hopeless , their app was obviously done as cheap as possible. Unable to add 2 passengers and the price kept rising. Eventually used the bus station machine that required €100 in cash. Wouldn't accept a card. I realize that I'm no computer genius but companies that assume we all are are just lazy. Take the train .
The way ALSA handles complaints is extremely egregious. My suitcase was at the bottom of the bus. When I took it out at the end of my trip, it turned out to be swimming in pee and poop water from the chemical toilet. When I asked the bus driver for a wipe, he quickly had to get on with his route. And I stood there to continue my journey with a stench that I can't describe, let alone all my clothes that had blue stains from the moisture of the chemical toilet. I was able to throw away my suitcase including two pieces of clothing. I was forced to buy a new suitcase and sent the bill to them as they had indicated they would compensate for this. I ordered the exact same suitcase (because it was not old) for 150 euros. About compensating for the clothes they didn't tell me anything. In the end, I was compensated an embarrassingly low amount of 50 euros! ALSA, you should be ashamed of yourself. I am extremely disappointed and cannot recommend anyone to travel with them!
Very bad experience my son came to visit me in Spain and the coach drops off in the villages on the way.The coach driver has no interest in the clients and has no interest in advising the stops.Unless you know the area and drop-offs extremely well you will not be able to use this service. My son ended up stranded with other SPANISH passengers , this was not due to the language barrier as they also thought they were at their destination.
NEVER take an ALSA.On 17/04/2022 I was supposed to take a bus from Madrid Aeropuerto T4 to Gijón at 23:59 h. My surprise was that, even being there one hour in before the bus was scheduled to leave, no bus came to the station. Around 10 people plus me were stuck at the station. I called to the company and they said the bus was there on time, obviously that was not true at all since, as I said, was not me the only one who missed it.By today, I didn't receive any money back or any kind of compensation from the company for ruinning my holidays and still they keep on telling to me that everything was correct with that bus roundtrip, making me feel like an idiot.
I would given it zero stars if the option would be there, absolutely shocking customer service! My mum is visually impaired and we were both treated with zero consideration as humans let alone hidden disability, the driver refused to let us biard despite the bus being half empty sending us to confirm the tickets to go to torre del mar, my mum was getting anxious and could not understand why he wasn't letting us get on as we had paid for the tickets.I definitely recommend that people with hidden disabilities make alternative arrangements as this company appears to have invested absolutely nothing into training their staff in regards to this.I really hope this gets picked up and will be looked into as it is equally demoralising and humiliating to have to explain in a foreign country a delicate condition that is not visible to everyone.
