Why pay for a credit card in this day…

Why pay for a credit card in this day and age when you can get similar, and better, benefits on a free card And when the customer service reps, if you can ever get them on the phone,tell you that American Express has your back I'm here to say American Express does not have your back.I made a dispute with the company that refused to honor its return policy. I did everything that was asked and submitted all proof; photos and receipts to the company and they ghosted me. I also submitted everything to the dolts at American Express. the company lied to American Express and American Express took their side not mine after I submitted all the proof. I called the company out and now they want to issue me a refund but I've already canceled my American Express card because I don't want to do business with them. I'll take the hit. I got my free cards and I do better with them. American Express is not worth the plastic it's printed on.

AMEX no longer the brand it once was

Been a customer since 2013, needed to put a large payment through to book a holiday. Called to request a small increase to my credit limit to facilitate the payment, which was rejected. Raised a complaint, a smug, patronising representative from the complaints department rang me and said “we won’t be able to give you a credit increase” without being able to provide a reason, however by then I didn’t need one! I use my Platinum AMEX for everything, I put tens of thousands of pounds a year on that card and pay it in full every month, yet when I ask for a small increase, rejected. Thanks for nothing AMEX, you have alienated me as a customer and I won’t forget that.

BEWARE - American Express - hides in the fine print

Be very careful applying for any of American Express solicited offers - they hide behind the fine print. I have been a good customer with Amex for many years. They bombarded me with solicitations to add an additional Platinum Card to my account. I then added my wife (she had a platinum card on my account a few years ago). When the 20,000 points never arrived I called and they said they would investigate it. No response for a month so I did a follow up phone call. Then told they resolved it but no contact as made. Of course the resolve was a denial of the 20,000 points. They said in the fine print when you sign up - individuals who had a previous platinum card are ineligible for the points. Seems this could be more upfront in the fine print and not buried. To me a classic bait & switch tactic. Of course they will not provide any information on where it is in the fine print - just read it - (it's quite long). Who reads pages of small print in these cases. To me this is a classic way of scamming people into signing up but not providing the benefits.

My name is Melvin

My name is Melvin Mendez, a member of American Express for almost 10 years, I have never had a late payment nor do I have one. American Express sends me a notification that I have to make a payment in the next 3 days or they will lower my credit limit, three days at the end of the month without prior notification, simply because I am paying and I do not consume more, when they lower my credit limit would my credit report also go down. I call to fix this and speak with Linda Shindi 'manager' # scui407 to see how we can come to an agreement and she only tells me that I have to make an extra payment in the next three days. I explain to her that it is the end of the month and I will be traveling on Mother's Day weekend and she tells me that there is no way to solve this. I ask for an explanation because they only gave me 3 days to pay. The problem here was not the payment, it is the short time 3 days. Payments always give a month to pay and In this case, I'm not late; they're asking for an extra payment, and this will affect my credit report. I don't think it's fair.

BEWARE NO BACK UP FOR CUSTOMER

I’ve had an incredibly frustrating experience with American Express, and I feel compelled to share it. I recently tried to initiate a chargeback for an item that was not as described, and despite providing all the necessary documentation—including clear evidence of the discrepancy, tracking information, and proof of return—American Express has flatly refused to help.Their customer service is almost nonexistent. I’ve tried multiple times to reach out and resolve the issue, but I’m met with the same lack of support. It feels like they’re ignoring my claims and simply brushing off my case. I’m thoroughly disappointed by their lack of assistance, especially considering how much effort I’ve put into providing all the information they should need.If you’re considering using American Express, be aware that they may not have your back if you face a similar issue. The lack of transparency, refusal to assist, and absence of a responsive customer service team are deeply concerning. I expected much more from a company of this caliber.

American Express is a horrible company…

American Express is a horrible company to buy gift cards as if you did not make an authorized purchase, as was the case, the gift card was sent via American Express. When I wanted to check on the balance available, it had an unauthorized charge and had not been used by me yet.They said they would investigate the claim and it would take 30 to 90 days to restore the original $100 available balance. That is a fraudulent business practice for a multi billion dollar company. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY GIFT CARDS FROM THIS GREEDY COMPANY AS THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!!!!!

American Express Customer Service Terrible. Have had AE CC for 50 years

Have had AE CC for 50 years, many platinum now green as 84 yo no longer travel worldwide. Have likely charged $2 Million or more. Over the last five years AE has routinnely taked the vendors side of a dispute. I call and badgered endlessly to use useless chate or web site wasting time. Then finally connected to CS in India who are instructed by Management to lie. I try to sove problems with vendor. AE refusses as a condition of getting a vendor account to require a phone number answered by a person. Thrn when unable talk to the vendor all you get from CS in India is lies, deception, and dishonesty. CEO should bfe fired . This comes from top down.

No medical service assistance

Their medical assistance service while travelling and duly insured a family member under my platinium card, in the specific Amex Platform with a stamped insurance in the name of my platform, the new Europ assistance service just refused to cover my sibling. Which is a full non sense while providing the certificate in the name of my sibling. So I had to anticipate all the fees and I will not even ask them for a refund, as their service is horrible. I will just go for the national health insurance and ask them. But you have to know, the health travel insurance of AMEX italia has been infortunately in this one and only case bullshit for me.
