Promoted a deal to receive cashback on a hotel offer, Clermont in Victoria, London. We booked 2 rooms and did everything as per the deal. Two months later and copious messages and we still have not been rewarded. Same response for 2 months 'We have escalated this'. Absolute waste of time and a con to be honest as it seems they have no intention of honouring their offer.
My son-in-law and daughter both carry the American Express Platinum and have been suggesting that I apply for it as well. Since AE's initial spend requirement is high ($8000 within 6 months) in order to get the bonus miles, I didn't think I would be able to meet the requirements to qualify. However, recently I needed to buy a new car. Since I could pay a certain amount by credit card, I could almost meet the AE $8,000 requirement. My son-in-law sent me the link to apply for the Platinum - allowing him both to get a referral bonus and for me to get a 175,000 miles bonus. I was on the road, trying to multitask, working off my phone instead of the much preferred computer for this kind of work. I thought I was applying via the link but somehow, the application went direct to AE website. So instead of getting 175,000 bonus miles, I got 125,000.I immediately called AE as soon as I realized what had happened but ... alas, the much vaunted AE Customer Experience was nowhere to be found. Nothing a big, global corporation can do about the 50,000 bonus miles. No possible way AE could come up with any other solution to make up for the 50,000 miles. A credit statement? Deducting the dollar value of the 50,000 miles from the annual fee ($695)? I also let my son know that I was applying for the Platinum so the whole family could use some of the AE perks together. He applied and got 150,000 miles bonus. I got 125,000, even though I referred him, and my son-in-law got 0 for referring me. In about 30 minutes, AE got 2 instantly approved customers. Not a bad day's work ... and it wasn't even their sales/marketing dept that did any work."Once they have you as a customer, they don't care" seems to be on point. But AE seems to forget that after the first year of using the benefits I paid for, I can always cancel. So what if my credit score takes a temporary hit ... it's high enough to withstand it. The search for a card with the level of customer service their marketing materials boast continues.
Amex does not help you if you become the victim of a SCAM.I hired a car via an airline which was passed via a portal to an Italian Car Provider. On the day it was impossible to contact the local company and I had to hire a car via another operator. Amex refused the dispute saying that I was a "No Show" despite the fact that the airline flew me there. Amex has zero interest in their customers or in preventing fraud.
Hi, the staff at the Counter at the MXP airport between gate A & B at the time 5:15 pm on 1 Oct 2024 racist against Chinese. I am worried this kind of staff is destroying your reputation and business, please investigate. This guy refused to talk with me and answer any questions just because I am a Chinese. Appeared normal when he see other Caucasians. I think really ashamed of this as Italy is generally a welcoming country
What I do like is you’re able to transfer the funds to the card and it’s available in seconds but I have been having some issues using the card and the interest are super super high. I wish they were bring down the interest rates help more people.
They dont protect their cardholders like they used to. I had to open dispute twice because of hidden fees. Hotel Verdanza in San Juan PR. were charging us 45.00 dollar per day for a special hotel fee because their pool was under construction and they have to charge everyone for the transportation to a pool outside the hotel. Everybody had to pay it regardless you didnt used it. American Express last word was " Get legal representation.
When using AMEX chat the agents abandon the chat because they have not got the knowledge or the Skills to handle the call , they avoid raising complaint’s and have little or no customer service skills , be aware if your reporting scams or fraud as they have not be trained to deal with these issues,I’ve been a customer for 40 years, this company has hit rock bottom and I now will close my account and so will my partner. Shame on you AMEX
When it works it works well, but they are deploying tech without actually considering how it works for their customers! Their payment methods are awful unless you pay via DD. That aside it is not widely recognised - I will be cancelling it shortly - certainly NOT worth their annual charges
