I have used Ancestry.ca in the past with a lot of success. However, recently most of inquires were hopeless and consisted of United States information and even that was limited. So I ran a names I had already researched in the past (2 years ago) which I received several pages of information. These same names which were previously researched resulted in only census and voters list entries. I know the information is with Ancestry.ca because I have copies on file. I contacted Ancestry.ca representatives (Philippines) and they admitted they were in some kind of upgrade and will be til sometime in the new year. hence the limited available information. He was good enough to give a refund. FYI...
I was experiencing a problem with accessing document images with my account. The Ancestry representative Jacob who I dealt with by telephone was very polite, friendly, and consistently checked that he had accurately taken down the information that he requested to solve my issue.I was successful, with Jacob's help, in identifying what was causing the problem, and it was successfully resolved.
I would like to send a big thank you to the Ancestry team!! Briefly my story; a couple of years ago I had submitted my DNA as I was researching my mother's side of the family. Last year I received a DNA Match Alert for a first cousin. At first I thought nothing of it until it dawned on me that this was a first cousin I did not know, please understand I know all my first cousins. I decided to contact the match and to my surprise she was from the side of my biological father! I have never known my biological father, only his name. This year 2020 even though the world is going through a pandemic, my world had an amazing connection with my biological father!!! After 54 years I finally have meet my father who did not know of my existence and was welcomed with open arms!! So in brief without Ancestry this blessing would have never happened. I am most grateful for Ancestry DNA and would recommend that more people do the test. You never know who you may find. Thank you again Ancestry. You brought a world of happiness to my family during a time of despair!!!!!
Got my DNA done with Ancestry.ca a few years ago BUT this year, I retraced my family tree and discovered I have enough Native blood to qualify for my Certificate of Indian Status in Canada. There was 0% Native ties found with this DNA test. I compared my results from the DNA test to my half-sister and the results were exactly the same. Impossible. How can they be the same and why did my Native ties not show up? Something very wrong with this test.
Took me three browsers to cancel subscription.Button cancel in chrome and firefox doesn't work.My experience tells me this is deliberate, each browser has a problem with a different cancel button in their aggressive form to keep you paying subscription. The only way to cancel is to connect your account in Microsoft Edge for Christ Sake.
