I stayed at the Best Western Hotel in Sheffield (the cheaper one) with my mates on Thursday night for 1 night, we went to the darts and then our in Sheffield for a couple of hours then back to the hotel. I took my watch off and left it on the side when I went to sleep, I woke up and we had to be out for 11am in which I packed all my stuff ready to leave and must have left my watch there. I rang up when I got home 1 hour 30 mins later at 12:30pm and asked about my watch. I got a call back at 4pm to say it hasn’t been found and none of my friends have it so I can only assume it has been took by someone who works at the hotel. My friend confirmed he saw it earlier on in the morning on the side but didn’t pick it up.
Stayed at the Gables Hotel, Falfield for my sister's 50th, taking place at the hotel. I have stayed at a few Best Western hotels and they've been not great tbh. BUT From the moment we arrived at The Gables check-in the staff were so friendly and helpful. Even though the team were short handed both the function room and main bar were keeping up with the orders. On top of the bar, all the food orders were sent out with great quality and without an excessive wait. Breakfast in the morning was great again with well cooked bacon and proper grilled tomatoes and mushrooms (not the grey ones). Special mention to Zilo who is an absolute credit to this hotel; but all the staff working this weekend deserve praise and a big thank you.
would rate it 0 stars but cant, Absolutely disgusting rooms, loud noises and screams at 5am, people calling out for Alan's Snack bar. Lazy people, cant be bothered to walk downstairs to the dining room so the scream for Alan for ages in the morning. Never again.
Just got back from a four night stay.We were very comfortable. Had a sea view room. Breakfast was excellent and we had an evening meal. We stayed in the Douglas one in the Isle of Man. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Only let down was the hit and miss with the WiFi.
Stayed at Best Western Hotel Andover for one night. Flaking paint and rust on towel radiator,no flush button on toilet, human excrement on bed base, stains on head board, loose wires on radiator, undesirable brown substance around sink overflow, wall light hanging off wall and cupboard and drawer fixtures hanging off.Paid £159 for one night to stay in this horrendous bedroom.
Not a good experience at this hotel at all.Paid for the deluxe room, arrived at the hotel and been given room number 234 that had a very strong cigarette smell inside, it was extremely hot inside absolutely unbearable with no air conditioning or at least a fan to be able to breathe in there, window was impossible to open due to millions of bugs and flies right outside the window from the hotels pond so I had no choice but to refuse the room.Reception employee assistance was not existent, she was not even interested in why we would refuse to stay there so we had no choice but to leave the hotel 5 minutes after arriving. It is a shame that hotel conducts business this way. I was charged £135 for 1 night when I was not able to use the facilities at all, only entered the room and left after 5 minutes due to hotel not being able to provide a decent room that you can actually stay in.
This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at.1. The rooms are extremely hot with no apparent temperature controls in the room. The only option is to open a window and then your sleep is disturbed by noise from the car park which goes on for most of the night2. There is a small dome on the room ceiling, presumably a smoke alarm or something similar. This emits a pulse of bright white light every few minutes which although not noticeable during the day, lights up the whole room at night time. Again no way to switch it off.3. The hotel appears to be frequented by contractors who happily communicate with walkie talkies or something similar for the most part of the night. These can be clearly heard through the paper thin room walls. After complaining to my neighbour he stopped making a noise at 11:30pm, only to start up again at 4am in the morning.4. There are no phones in the room so I could not call reception, and given the standard of service I received I doubt that it would have been manned anyway.5. The general condition of the room is poor with cobwebs and encrusted dirt on the inside of the windows and gaps in the skirting board in the bathroom6. The hot water temperature is fine however the water pressure in the bathroom basin is so low that you get barely more than a trickle.7. Breakfast was acceptable but some of the advertised items were unavailable eg porridge and as the breakfast bar was not properly manned there was no one to ask I raised my main concerns on checking out and was told that someone would call to try to put things right. Around 3 weeks later no one has called.A number of these issues have been raised by other reviewers going back more than 6 months, so it is clear that the management do not take them seriously and have absolutely no intention of raising their game.Enough said; an expensive and nasty hotel, avoid like the plague.
We stayed at a best western in brome in Suffolk, we got into our room and the first thing that we noticed was the smell of wet dog followed by an infestation of silver fish, we had a room change and staff were great but the beds were hard and very uncomfortable. The whole stay was unpleasant and we will think again about staying at a best western.
My wife booked 3 nights at a satisfactory, convenient hotel we have stayed at before. Tried to check by phone that breakfast was included in the price. (She had had 3 'Rewards' emails promoting 'Year of the Free Breakfast') Could not understand the person she spoke to and went on to make the booking online. Later found that she had been transferred, without her knowledge, to the HotelsOne booking platform. At no time did she see her monitor screen show anything apart from Best Western.(Several similar complaints from travellers in the USA) So the Free Breakfast is NOT included. The hotel can do nothing about it. Sharp practice? We feel we've been conned.
Misleading adverts, a year of free breakfasts they said if you pay in advance at a special rate. Well they blocked my card but according to them 'not actually took the money' and charging a special more expensive rate for the 'free breakfast rate' is not actually a free breakfast is it.
