Review Time
It became very apparent my home needed new windows. I researched and made in home appointments. Then Donna with Champion Windows walked in and I knew I had found my replacements. Every little detail was explained. The installment was smooth and fast with no mess! I feel my maintenance free home is now complete!
In March of 2018 we purchased $36,000 worth of doors and windows for our house. All exterior doors and windows were with a guaranteed and it was transferable based our contract. In March 2019, we had Champion out to repair a poorly installed bay window. They came with in a reasonable time and fixed the window. In February of 2020, we called again because the storm door on the back of the house was pulled off in a storm. We also had some screens that needed to be repaired. We waited, called several times, used the forms on the website. Sent pictures and yet no contact. We were patient because of the pandemic. We understood. We called again in February of 2021, we had a date for them to come out to fix things or to look over the job. The young man arrived with out a mask, a contract, or a tape measure which I had in front of me and provided to him. He said he would go write up an order for a new door and that when they came back to install it he would fix the screens at that time. Well, a week later we get a call from a woman in Macon telling us that our storm door wasn't apart of our warranty. We called back to ask how much a new door would cost, she said she would get back to us. I week later we call her back and ask for the price. She finally called back with a price of $635 for the door and $800 additional dollars for a warranty. We already paid for a warranty based on my reading of our contract. They say it doesn't apply. The woman then said that the man who came to our house never said anything about screens. I am so angry that we waited a year for them to come out, that they forgot everything we asked for, that they are charging us for something we already paid for and that they have behaved like we are doing them a favor by doing business with them. We were a multi-generational Champion family but we recommend that everyone run as fast as you can away from them. They are not as billed. They do NOT honor their contracts and they make you wait over a year for service. I am infuriated by how they have treated us. I am currently waiting for a manager to call me back but I am not holding out hope for that either. We made an investment and have expectations.
I called number they sent me via e mail, as expected with Champion, no one knew anything about it. Said, " sorry, I can't help you."What's with this company?Again, no help for sun room leaking, puddles of water, with algie and mold. Pictures online. Smells musty and moldy. Not proper instillation.All furniture in center of sunroom. Not usable.Truly needs to be torn down and made right, but last several visits, just patch jobs.Maybe they know how to install a window or two, but they have no idea how to build properly a sunroom. Several have mentioned how expensive they are for what you get, I found that out after we signed a contract and they didn't show up. The reason they didn't show up, they decided they "needed more money" and this is what we get.Go with a local company or builder in your area, not someone national. If you go local, their work sells, word of mouth. Take pride in their work and you know who's doing the construction. Not some young people looking for a job in between jobs.Do your homework. Google and make few calls and get 3 estimates.... in writing.We had written one from Champion, AND SIGNED, but they did not show up on the date as promised, decided “ could not start work until we gave them more money.”That was our first red flag. Never had the common courtesy to call us, we had to call them a few days later. We are still waiting for them to make it right. If someone in management, or owner of this company had to live with this sunroom, they might understand. A nightmare. Can’t stress enough, go local. Their quality and pride in work sells. That’s what we did with sunroom in other home. Several on same street used same guy. Quality, never had to come out and fix a single thing. Never a problem. Had the sunroom 16 years, until we moved. You don’t want Champion for building. May be able to install a window, but to build, is not their strong suit. It’s a nightmare. Always leaking, mold, algae, musty smell. The ceiling constantly and loudly snaps, crackles and pops, and I mean loud. Not quiet by any means, not restful, it’s scary, like going to fall in on you. We can’t and don’t use the room. It has scared company, ask what’s going on. Can’t say it enough, go local.
Terrible service. Had to call multiple times to set up an appointment. During the whole appointment the guy bashed his previous client then tried to get us to commit on the spot to purchase. He did not even have an estimate but told us he could write one up right away if we were to purchase today and it would be half price if we committed that day. I have to question why the price doubles if you do not and even told him that was shade business and we would not be pressured into committing that day. I asked when I could expect an emailed quote for consideration and was told within a couple days. Never got the quote. Super shady salesman and felt like I was at a used car lot. Stay away
I ordered front doors 6 months ago, October. They couldn't be installed (December)) because they were made wrong. So here it is March 2021 and I guess I'm no longer a priority. My doors aren't in and absolutely no one communicates on a regular basis. The original salesperson (out of Perrysburg) has never called me back. I's not normal. I've used Champion in the past but I will most likely never do so or recommend Champion again.
Great communicationThis company has high quality products and installation. Replaced 1/2 of our windows last year and have just contacted Mike to have the remainder replaced. Easy people to work with! Mike Bradley is simply the best. Job well done! I would highly recommend. Suzette Mitchell
