Using John Charcol as our mortgage broker was a really good experience, I would definitely recommend. We needed to remortgage a flat in order to buy a house, with the added complication of non-standard build, and with limited budget and relatively little knowledge (at the start!). Our advisor, Daniel Williams, was always cheerful, friendly, professional and extremely helpful and proactive. I can’t recommend John Charcol, and specifically Eric Appollodorus and Fiona Allan, highly enough.Our situation wasn't straightforward. Being self-employed, up against a tight deadline and age not on our side we weren't sure we'd find a mortgage. From the start, Eric was honest and realistic, explaining what we were up against, but he still managed to find us a mortgage provider and product that suited our needs perfectly.Fiona then dealt with the paperwork and coordination with the lender and solicitors. She was on top of everything, keeping the process moving smoothly, regularly checking in, and making sure we met our deadline.Both Eric and Fiona were informative, supportive, and lovely people to work with, which made a stressful situation so much easier.I will be recommending them to anyone who needs a mortgage, and I’d use John Charcol again without thinking twice. John Charcol were fantastic throughout the entire process of my partner and I buying our first property. She was very friendly, approachable and responsive and took the time to chat over the phone on many occasions to answer our questions and explain the process, which was really helpful.Once the mortgage product was agreed on, Meg Jones took our application forward quickly and effectively, giving us regular proactive updates on progress and again being a great help whenever we had any queries. Meg was also in direct contact with our conveyancers and chased for updates on next steps and outstanding information all the way to completion.Finally, Thomas Bridle helped us set up our health and life insurance policies in interaction with the property. He was extremely knowledgeable, laid out the options available to us in great detail over a couple of calls and was attentive to our preferences and needs. He was also flexible on timings, rearranging calls on multiple occasions at our request without any fuss. Again, once agreed on policies, these were seamlessly arranged by Tom without any further input needed from us.We could tell that our three contacts all clearly communicated with each other as they were up to date on our progress throughout and it really was a very smooth process thanks to John Charcol.We would highly recommend to anyone looking for advice on mortgages and/or insurance.
