Review Time
There is no option for a zero star review. This whole business is not fit for purpose. Greats multiple maximum fee charges to payment accounts without authorisation for any vehicle charges. Takes multiple amounts of unauthorized payments without providing any service at all, every time you try and use it. Beware.
It absolutely amazes me that these clowns have a government contract. When the Scottish government is implementing EV zones left, right and centre yet they don't have the infrastructure to charge literally anything. The whole RFID card system very rarely works, the stability of the chargers is very poor, with over 50% out of action or charging at a small % of what they should. Every charger works differently, meaning you need to go through a specific step by step way of charging, which still rarely works successfully. The reality of this poor infrastructure is often being stranded somewhere in the cold, having to call in to eventually be told the chargers don't work, can you find another one. That then means sitting in a car for 2 hours on a poor charger whilst the kids get fed up until you have enough charge to limp out to a proper charger like ionity.Literally the worst infrastructure I've ever had the displeasure of using.
Absolutely horrific service. App doesn't work. It's a lottery if the chargers accept cards. When you call them up the operators are clueless. Surely the Scottish Government should be looking at this company contract and awarding it to another more competent company. It's a disgrace and would put people off EVs. Looking at reviews of the APP and the service online line reads so bad. Does anyone from Charge Scotland or the Scottish Government even have cognisance of this, or even care!!!!It shouldn't be allowed to go on.
..if you go off the main road network and need charging with ChargePlaceScotland. We are now stuck after 3 different chargers failed with the app. None allowed contactless - a special rfid card is needed on the older chargers. Even with rebooting/resetting by the operator it failed to charge. And a £40 deposit for each attempt. Now stuck miles from any other charger. Hearsay says they've messed up the app and it's showing chargers it's not compatible with or if it is it doesn't initiate charging. This is a national disgrace for Scotland.
New to EVs and had no idea just how challenging it would be living in Scotland and trying to charge my car. I’ve tried 3 times in the last two days to charge via CPS chargers using PAYG as the app won’t let me register for some reason or order an RFID card. Charged 3x£35 preauthorisation fees on chargers that stated they were available but then an ‘error’ occurred and no charging commenced. Apparently I have to wait what could be up to 30 days for a refund!! Reluctant to try again as how many people can afford for £35 just to be pumped out of their account continuously on the hope ones car ‘might’ be charged. Having seen all the terrible reviews I’m so shocked this is allowed to happen and to continue for so long. Surely the government need to step in and do something asap. Whomever is running this project needs to be sacked pronto and this important infrastructure given to someone… literally anyone else.
I cannot believe how bad my first experience with Charge Place Scotland was today. On a short trip to Aberfeldy for New Year with friends. Downloaded the app before coming and created an account, so I thought that I would be ready to go. How wrong I was. Tried multiple times to get a charge point to work but simply wouldn’t work, and all the time I was having hundreds of pounds in my account being put on hold. When I noticed, I called them up and spoke to someone who clearly didn’t care and who actually laughed when I asked for my money to be released. Truly appalling. Cannot wait to get south of the border again.
Awful!!! Tried to charge up, after plugging in and validating my payment through the app it said the plug was unavailable and did not charge. I then tried the other plug and went back and forth several times....not knowing they would deduct £35 each time....they now have £385 of my money! I'm not happy about having to wait 5 days either for it to be refunded. Absolutely ridiculous charging system. Thankfully only in Scotland for a break and don't have to deal with this horrendous supplier which seems to have the monopoly on ev chargers.
New EV owner and transition using CPS has been horrible. I've been successful less than 1/3 if the time and a hold is placed on the money each individual time you attempt to charge. The hold is not always cleared quickly either. One week there was over £200 held on my account while I'd managed to get less than £30 of charge. Issue is clearly with the payments system and communication with the charging points as not having this issues with other networks.
Horrific. Couldn’t get on chargers due to Electroverse compatibility made to order their own RFID card and it does not work either. A lot of their chargers broken no sign of repairs being done. Got a charge this morning after calling in, jumped back in vehicle and it booted me off again. Horrendous company and unfortunately in my area they seem to have all the monopoly on chargers. If I could give them zero I would. Absolute shambles if you can avoid their chargers do so.
This company exemplifies exactly why government should leave commercial businesses to run services and especially technology. Chargers all over Scotland that don’t work. Chargers that are already out of date needing an RFID card that you have to buy for £12 and it takes months to arrive! Atrocious.
