I'm new to electric cars, but I'm shocked how bad Chargeplace Scotland is. If the government want people to move over to EVs they need to offer a reliable app, service and chargers. The app is constantly crashing or unavailable. I've had to phone in a few times for assistance when the app has crashed and I can't stop a charge. Sometimes I've not been able to start charge as I can't log in. The app wants to send an activation code, but it wants to send it to someone else's email address. I've been trying to start a charge and had numerous £40 deductions trying to start the charge. It turns out even though the chargers are listed on the app, and there is no information on the charger saying otherwise, the charger can't be controlled by the app. It is RFID card only. If it's not connected to the app how does it attempt to start and deduct £40 each time? So many of the chargers are broken. The app can't navigate to the charging stations. The app defaults to Edinburgh as the location. I've to manually work out where I am. There is not one aspect of the Chargeplace Scotland service that is acceptable. It's unbelievably bad.
Absolute shambles of a company. Changed from paying monthly to pay when you charge. Then you get invoices through charging for a time 4 weeks previously when you thought you paid. Chargers are broke and take weeks to fix, then only work a few days and out of service again.
Can't change email address on account "it's not possble".Can't set up new account as instructed to get around their lousy website as my phone number is already in use. Can't transfer account as a 3 year old bill they claim is not paid - which they have never taken from my Direct Debit, or asked for. This organisation is comically inept.
Another negative review on my inability to charge my car. I went to the 50kWh charger in Aberlour and was away for 1hr and 10min and the charger only added 13.4kWh to my car. Of course there is a premium price of 56p/kWh @50kWh chargers but this was not the service I received. Pre-payment of £40 was taken. Assuming that this was a one off issue I tried another CPS station in Hopeman. The 1st attempt took another £40 pre-payment but the charger came up with a fault. Resetting didn't work but as I was desperate to add charge to my vehicle, I tried again. Guess what, another £40 pre-payment. So in total I prepaid £120 to CPS and achieved little in return. I called the helpline and although the agent confirmed the second point was faulty, they could do no more to help. Another issue I have with CPS is the £10 surcharge if you stay over 100minutes. These charge points also have a 22kWh charging option, so if like me you have a car that is 77kWh capacity, you will be unable to fully charge your car in 100min time limit and thus a further £10 charge will be your reward. In the meantime, I'm waiting for the refund of almost £113. In the end I went to a PodPoint in Tesco, 10 miles away to get a 50kWh charger that worked first time.
Haven’t managed to charge my car yet using chargeplace Scotland. App is a shambles, full of bugs and does not work, £100s of pending payments on my account, charge sessions which have started, not actually charged and can’t end them. This company and services are a complete shambles.
Making a family trip up the west coast of Scotland unnecessarily stressful. Three failed payment attempts on the app in Inveraray and no EV charge, travel onto Lochgilphead and a further failed EV charge now £120 down on pending bank charges!!! A quick call to the ChargePlaceScotland operator who tells me ‘these old chargers in rural locations don’t work with the app’???? But they’ve taken my money!?!?! The same helpful assistant tells me he can start the charge at Lochgilphead remotely. 25 minutes later and an entire reboot of the system we finally get a charge.
This company are cowboys Authorised £35 from my card and charger didn’t work told it’ll take 7 days to get my money back Stupidly had to use one of their chargers today preauthorised £45 got back after charging said bill was )35 but no there’s hidden overstay costs £57 not only that they then take the £57 from my account on top of the pre authorisation which again takes 7 working days to be refunded so they have £80 of my money and I have to wait more than a well to get it back and hat if I had no money they are a joke and I’ll never ever use one of their chargers again
Absolutely shocking company. The app will tell you there's points available nearby to use, then you'll arrive and they're broken. So you go somewhere else and everything should be working. You plug it and ask the app to charge (why you can't just present a card at the machine, I don't know!) and it takes a £40 pre-authorisation charge out of your account. Then you get the error message and try to start the charge again. ANOTHER £40. You decide against a third time because of this and then you noticed you haven't had your £80 returned. You read reviews on here saying it takes 7-14 days. This is daylight robbery and quite frankly, this company needs investigating.
Shambolic!!They are outdated and even if they do work, which is hit and miss, the chargers are too complicated. Why on earth do they insist on putting them in car parks where we have to pay to park? Would anyone pay to park at Esso to fill up? Why are they not taking a good look at the reviews and trying to do better? If I were Scottish I would be embarrassed to have the Scottish name on this poor excuse for a charging network, come on over to England and see how it should be done.
