We bought a vacation package from Costco travel to Cancun Mexico in August 2025. The vacation package included airline tickets (Air Canada), 7 days stay at a resort and transfer from airport to resort and back. Unfortunately, the airline re-routed our flight and we ended up arriving 1 day late at Cancun airport. Costco travel were completely disconnected from everything. I called them to re-arrange our planned transfer from the airport to the resort and also to inform the resort of our late arrival. They charged me $$ and promised to update the transfer company and resort with our new arrival. They did NOTHING, the ONLY thing they did was to LIE to us about what they will do.. Completely dissatisfied with their service. SHAME on Costco Travel, will never use them again!
Costco Travel didn’t inform us about flight departures time change, they blamed it on the airlines even though they are the ones who should have informed us about the change, got to the airport at 5:30 am to find out flight is not departing until 10:30. Horrible experience, customer support not helpful, they did not take any accountability for it. The airline had sent them an email about the change, the day before, but they did not bother to let us know. They like the money but they don’t care about the customer’s experience
We also had a flight cancellation due to technical issues. . We could not get a hold of anyone at Costco. We booked another flight that we had to pay for out of pocket. They said they would take care of the change with transfers that did not happen. I spent hours on the phone after our trip arguing with them. The support staff work limited hours which does not help when you have a flight cancellation. The representative was rude and confrontational on the phone. I would never recommend them to anyone.
I have been a loyal Costco member for years, but my recent experience with Costco Travel was deeply disappointing and unacceptable.We booked a family trip to Meliá Caribe Beach Resort through Costco Travel, trusting the Costco brand to stand behind its offerings. Instead, we encountered unsafe and unsanitary conditions from the start: mold, humidity, broken outlets, and dirty linens. Things only worsened when my infant son became severely ill, requiring hospitalization and an air ambulance transfer to the U.S., while my mother-in-law contracted COVID during the stay. The resort clinic documented visits but repeatedly sent us back to the room without meaningful medical help.To make matters worse, when I asked to extend my stay one night due to my son’s hospitalization, the hotel refused to provide accommodations and forced me to book online at my own expense—over $700 for a single night.I documented everything with photos and medical reports and submitted a reimbursement request to Costco Travel. Costco’s response was to dismiss the entire matter, claiming the resort “resolved” the issues with a room upgrade. They ignored the fact that my family suffered serious health problems, incurred major expenses, and endured unsafe conditions at a property Costco promotes.Costco Travel has a duty to its members, but in this case they passed responsibility back to the resort and offered no meaningful support. I never imagined Costco would stand behind a partner that puts families at risk. This experience has shaken my trust in the Costco Travel program, and I would strongly caution other families to think twice before booking with them.
Booked my 25th year anniversary Hawaii vacation though Costco travel, and saved nearly $3.5K for an 8-day trip to two islands. The hotel Costco suggested was magnificent both at Kauia and Maui. In addition, the convertible vehicles we rented were top rate and hassle free. What I spent on the car and hotel at both islands was almost as much as one island when I tried to book on my own. And the hotel I selected was not even on the water. Costco put us in an ocean front resort, and it was just perfect. I will never travel again without checking Costco travel first.
Costco Travel Review – Extremely DisappointedWe booked a "4-star resort" through Costco Travel and had one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever encountered — unsafe conditions, unsanitary rooms, unusable amenities, and a complete disconnect between what was advertised and what was delivered. Worse, Costco Travel did very little to advocate for us or hold the hotel accountable. After exhausting back-and-forth, we got two nights refunded — but only because we kept pushing.Costco Travel might offer good deals on paper, but when something goes wrong, don’t expect them to have your back. We won’t be booking through them again.
I had booked Cancun vacation thru Costco Travel in 2018 and we thoroughly enjoyed! Everything was perfectly arranged, airline flights, pickup at Cancun, 5 Star Hotel!! As a family we were completely satisfied with the Costco Travel. So I booked another vacation through them. This time to Costa Rica. Unfortunately, due to medical emergency we had to cancel it. Costco Travel Agent Vivian called and said, though usually Airline deducts $500 per person for cancellation, since our cancellation was within 55 days they have refunded it full. So we got 100% refund! I admire the honesty of Costco Travel besides their service! I would recommend it all the time!!
American Airlines cancelled a flight and rescheduled for next day. No notification was provided by Costco since they are third party and don’t have any automation to provide to their customers. I ended up with losing money by scheduling with another airlines and paying over 300% more. Costco and airline will make you do the leg work since they’ll just blame each other. Do not use Costco travel.
We booked a Bora Bora package. We were notified that the hotel would be experiencing extension renovations (noise), so we cancelled. Costco Travel would not refund the Air portion and would NOT contact the Airline to rebook. Terrible service. You always get someone different when you call in. Not a full service agency...effectively all they do is booking. Buyer beware if you need a real travel agent to advocate and correct problems on your behalf.
Costco travel was nothing short of a nightmare traveling to a foreign country. It’s one thing to book your Disney trip or something stateside. DO NOT BOOK FOR OVERSEAS TRAVEL. Unless that is you want to not get picked up at the airport or get a ride back to the airport. Both trips no shuttle for supposedly the biggest contract out of Cancun. Costco travel is trash I would highly recommend against using its service as it’s not streamlined, smooth or will work as expected. Instead you’ll get ghosted, the runaround with NO solution, acknowledgment of the issue or remedy. Would rate 0/5 if possible.
